Is a pocket knife enough,,, a small hand gun, or bigger,,,,???
How much should we carry?.

Just need a giant Ark full of supplies. Probably best to bury it in remote land and hide entrance so you can ride out anything :)

Prepping Priorities:
#1 Food
#2 More Food
#3 Lots More Food
#4 Water supply
#5 Shelter
#6 Fuel
#7 Necessities (soap, TP, etc.)
#8 "Lead" is a Mineral Supplement, and not much is required

Get away from people. Keep your head down, the blinds closed, and eat a bowl of "porridge". Going out will only put you at risk. -- You've got 2 1/2 years to prepare for a ~1 year duration. Good Luck. Hope to see you on the other end ...

HI and I respect that you are aware of dangerous time approaching which is what REv 6 promises that peace will be taken from the earth and that men will kill one another and 1/4 die off as the price for a quart of wheat is now a days wage. Jesus did warn the Christians to flee Jerusalem when they saw it surrounded and in 70AD they took note and fled and were not there when the destruction occurred. The tribulation is coming and do the scriptures speak of what we should do when we see this day approaching? 1 thes 1 For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come.

Wait for Jesus who delivers us from wrath to come.. The tribulation is the wrath of God and we are delivered from that wrath as also the eternal judgment.

Mathew 24 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven,[fn] but My Father only. 37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. 42 Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour[fn] your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

The LORD comes when people do not expect on a day when they are eating and drinking like before the flood it hit them. This logically indicates that this parousa or coming of the LORD is different than the one that comes when antichrist armies are gathered against Israel in the valley of Armgeddon. Think is over of we see the abomination of desolation and the mark of the beast and the water turned to blood, the two prophets and all the other specifics this passage makes no sense as that would be the hour people would expect Jesus to come. In this rapture debate the coming of the LORD with his saints is a very specific day that is preceded by a great many specific signs. this is the day of vengeance and not the great day of hope. There is two ideas in scripture the coming of the LORD secretly, suddenly for His saints and the other Jesus coming with His saints on the day of recompense.

But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. 2 For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. 3 For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. 4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. 5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

the wrath comes upon them we are delivered from this wrath. We are told to comfort one another..
13 But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.[fn]
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. 16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words. These words are a hope of deliverance from the wrath and this hope comes at a time when no one will know the day or hour. The 2nd coming is 42 months from the abomination of desolation.

... Mathew 24 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, ...

Hey Brian,
I find it interesting that many carefully study Scripture, down to the original Hebrew or Greek to discover the literal text. Take for example when Jesus asked Peter if he loved HIM. Jesus asked him twice using the word "agape", and Peter answered twice using the word "phileo". The third time Jesus asked using "phileo" and Peter answered "phileo"

Here in Matt. 24, we ignore the literal: no man knows the "day" and "hour", and assign an extrapolated: no man knows "anything". Of course this doctrine flies in the face of 1 Thess 5:

2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. 4 But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.

If it turns out that Jesus' return occurs during a multi-day feast, then of course we won't know which "day" or "hour" to anticipate. But we will know the Feast; the Month; the Season; the Year (1); the Decade (10); the Score (20); the Century (100); the Daytona (500); and the Millennia (1,000). -- Or so it would seem, in compliance with 1Thess 5.

Thus we "prepare" not for an uncertain future, but one which we are to anticipate and equip for, as given in Luke 22:35-36.

Thanks,
DaDad

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the post.
Most Christian Preppers are not really prepping for the "end of the world" or even the tribulation. They prep for things like local and regional catastrophes, national governmental and social upheavals, and localized judgment of nations and peoples. Agreed that if the seals were to begin opening tomorrow, I suspect a room full of preps are not going to go far... especially against worldwide catastrophes. I recall 1/2 off all men die and then 1/3 of what is left die. It is not going to be a nice time.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the post.
Most Christian Preppers are not really prepping for the "end of the world" or even the tribulation. ...
As I provided in a different topic, most Jews did not anticipate the Holocaust. Perhaps they thought their futures held an oppression, but not some crazy murderous fanaticism. And so too those who may "prep" for some minor inconvenience, but not some extended period* of deprivation.

Scripture is clear**, -- are you listening?

Thanks,
DaDad

* Six months minimum, but with the post nuclear destruction probably closer to a year, which starts three years from this past ~November, which is to say ~November of 2021.
** In 1985, J.R. Church wrote the book "Hidden Prophecies In The Psalms", which proposes that this 19th Book of the Bible is Prophetic to the Jews for the 1900's, Chapter for year, such that: Book 19, Chapter 48 = 1948 International Recognition of the State of Israel; Book 19, Chapter 91 = 1991 Iraqi War; Book 19, Chapter 44 = 1944 Holocaust; etc.. -- So Scripture warned the Jews, and Scripture warns the Church, but who will listen?

I need to add, a robber wants to kill me,, fine, but if hew wants to kill a loved one, hes going down..a loved one could be a brother or sister I dont even know.

In Matthew, etc....

Robbers, thieves, deceivers, made it their goal and aim to kill Jesus.

What did Jesus say to do ?

Who did Jesus trust His Own Life To ?

The answer is that Jesus trusted his life to GOD. -- But that was Pre-Departure:

Luke 22:35 And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no purse or bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”

But NOW we live in the Post-Departure, also as given in Luke:

Luke 22:36 He said to them, “But now, let him who has a purse take it, and likewise a bag. And let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy one.

... so your analogy no longer applies. -- NOW we're instructed to have all the means necessary for self sufficiency, including a sword (as necessary). But good try.

Or so it would seem ...

Yes... trust God.
But sometimes His means to preserve you is for you to dutifully prepare for those things that you know can and will occur.
Anti-preppers have no response to the deaths of millions of good, faithful believers who have died in every kind of calamity known to man. Whether it be war, famine, pestilence, social upheaval, natural catastrophe, etc, etc. When mankind suffers and dies, Christians are right in there suffering and dying with them. Preppers acknowledge the historical facts and obey the word. We prepare because it is our duty to prepare for both our families and communities.
So if you see the dam above your house begin leaking and crumbling, don't sit back with your wife and kids and say
"no worry... God will prevent the flood from washing us away." He does... and that may include you using your common sense and legs to move to higher ground.
Be wise... if you see a problem coming.. get out of the way.
