In Luke 20:37, Jesus Christ claims that Exodus 3, containing verses about the Burning Bush and Moses calling the LORD the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob, proves the Resurrection.

Exodus 3 is about God vowing to escape Israel from Egypt. The Hebrews called Egypt Mitzraim, from Ma-Osiris = Land of Osiris (literally). But Osiris was the god of the dead. Such that Egypt (Mitzraim) in Hebrew connoted "land of the dead".

Whereas Abraham, Isaac & Jacob are the patriarchal fathers of promise and the "living" (Luke 20:38).

So, figuratively, Exodus 3 describes God escaping the righteous from the land of the dead to the promised land of those alive in God's Grace.

Egypt being spiritually synonymous with death further appears in Revelation 11.

Which is why, as we find in Numbers, Moses was wrong to not only strike the rock twice but even to strike the rock when God said to just speak to the rock. Moses had already struck the rock. That ROCK that gave living water was a symbol of Jesus the Christ, who led them out of death (Egypt). Jesus did not need to die but the one time for our salvation.

Good post.
Revelation 11:8 shows both a City and Country. I can really think of only 2 places those could be symbolizing in the days of Jesus:

Revelation 11:8
And their dead bodies will lie in the broad-place of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom[Jerusalem?] and Egypt, [Israel?]
where also our/their Lord was crucified. [both mentioned in Genesis 13:10]

Very interesting.

That brings to mind these passages.

Matthew 4:16

The people living in darkness have seen a great light;
upon those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned.

Psalms 107:
10 Some sat in darkness and in the shadow of death,
prisoners in misery and chains,
11 because they rebelled against the words of God
and despised the counsel of the Most High.
12 He humbled their hearts with hard labor;
they stumbled, and there was no one to help.
13 Then they cried out to Yahweh in their trouble;
He saved them from their distress.
14 He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death
and broke away their chains.

Matthew 4:16 alluding to Psalm 107 suggests that from Christ onwards, the earliest Church applied terms such as "Egypt", "Sodom" and "Babylon" to 1st century AD Jerusalem and Judea, necessitating another spiritual Exodus, wilderness wandering (Matt 4:1ff), lifting up of the Moses serpent staff (John 3:14) = Crucifixion ~30AD

presumably a further period of "second spiritual wilderness wandering"...

a second spiritual entry into the (spiritual) Promised Land... = Mission to the Gentiles [40AD] ??

a second spiritual period of Judges... = Church Fathers age ??

a second spiritual David & Solomon = 2nd Coming (Revelation 19) = Constantine ???
