Love by Karl May (1843-1912)
A great word was written by the Lord,
How bigger there is no other, second there is:
If you want to find love, you must also love yourself,
Because only receiving love loves again.
And if it remained without a counter-donation,
It is the power of God,
The ones out of themselves and without end
Constant abundance, creating new gifts.
A great word was written by the Lord,
How bigger there is no other, second there is:
Only he knows how to love right and true,
Who continues to love the received love.
Thus, from victory to victory, they should constantly strive,
Ubiquitous as the sunshine,
Become omnipotence also in earthly life
And be the liberator of humanity.
A great word was written by the Lord,
How bigger there is no other, second there is:
Once upon a time, the child will love as the Father,
The creature as the Creator loves.
O God, O love, take me entirely;
I give me to you through you.
Bring me into you, and let me go up to you,
Until Once I am only love, love!

Karl May was a German folk writer who became famous for his American stories with "Old Shatterhand" (the first-person narrator) and Winnetou, the Apache chief.
At a young age, he was often in prison, where his faith increased. He wrote many religious poems like this one, as well as cantatas and even a small opera.
I was impressed by this poem, and I tried to translate it for you.
