My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand

CHORUS
Whoa The Solid Rock
On Christ the solid rock I stand
Whoa The Solid Rock
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness veils his loving face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.

That is funny John but I was singing that song all day yesterday and today. It is a good one.
There is one similar to it that I remember. It is not sung at my church much any more though.

"Higher Ground"

I'm pressing on the upward way,
New hights I'm gaining ev'ry day,
Still praying as I'm onward bound,
"Lord, plant my feet on higher ground".

REFRAIN

Lord, lift me up and let me stand.
By faith on heaven's table-land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

VERSE 2

My heart has no desire to stay,
Where doubts arise and fears dismay.
Tho' some may dwell where these abound,
My pray'r, my air, is higher gound.

REFRAIN

Lord, lift me up and let me stand.
By faith on heaven's table-land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

VERSE 3

I want to live, above the world,
Tho' Satan's darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

REFRAIN

Lord, lift me up and let me stand.
By faith on heaven's table-land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Lift me up to a higher ground.

VERSE 4

I want to scale, the utmost height,
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I'll pray 'til heav'n I've found,
Lord lead me on to higher ground.

REFRAIN

Lord, lift me up and let me stand.
By faith on heaven's table-land;
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Lift me up to a higher ground.

ENDING

Lord plant my feet on higher ground!
But still I'll pray 'til heav'n I've found,
Lord lead me on to higher ground.

Great hymn with truly Biblical lyrics.

I love that one John, especially this:
On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

anyhow - we sing it at church on a fairly regular basis, it's been a while too - am going to have to remind some folks about it so we can sing it again

My fave is this one:

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.
O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
Refrain
In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
Refrain
To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.
Refrain

It makes me cry. :cry:

I found this on a head stone near Flowery Branch, Georgia about a year ago. It rang true with me so I had to go back up there today and write it down. I was written in the mid 1700's by Thomas Moore. I have never seen or heard of this before I found this on the head stone.

||"This world is all a fleeting show,
For man's illusion given;
The smiles of joy, the tears of woe,
Deceitful shine, deceitful flow,--
There's nothing true but Heaven!
