I would say genuine "love" of keeping the Holy Commandments, because and out of love, cause you realize that it is about love, and that you having true, genuine Godly Love is key to keeping the commandments...

All others trying go up and on over the wall, some other way, will, most of them, will be deceived into only "thinking" that the are keeping the commandments and obeying God, when, really they are not, but are children of the Devil...

What is the Physciains oath, first and above all, "Do no harm", do not make things worse, or more evil...

But, sometimes it is necessary to do some harm, for the greater good, of making things even better in the end...

    God Bless!

The cup of Christ, and the Cup of demons...

The Old covenant and following it insted of the new, now that we have the new, is drinking from the cup of demons

In the old Covenant, everything was what the demons "demanded", and the new Covenant, is what God provided, in response to that, that is centered around Christ...

It was His (God's plan) to have their way (O.C.) fail, and what God would do with it/about it when it failed...

Now at the end of the N.C., the law stands at the end of it, but will be about how God fulfilled it, through Love, and is the only way we can fulfill it, any other way, as I said above, fails... And has been proven in the O.T. to fail, and to fail us, and point to the beginning of the N.C. when Christ will be with you as your God, then... Helping you to walk in Love, and fulfill Love...

    God Bless!

About the law (or O.C.) being the beginning and end, but not the in-between, cause the Commandments are like were shooting arrows, (making attempts) at the target, and we keep missing the bulls-eye, but, with and through Love, you aim will be perfect or perfected, and you'll hit the bulls-eye, one day...

Any other way, always misses the bulls-eye...

    God Bless!

Dear mmbattlestar. Yes, Love is the fulfilment of the Law. Jesus told us in Matthew 22: 35-40: " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. the second is like it: love thy neighbour as thyself." Verse 40 tells us: on these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets. God is Love and God wants loving sons and daughters.
The Bible tells us: give up all selfish and unloving word and deeds, Love God with all our beings, and love our neighbour as we love ourselves. Love is very catching, and Love will ALWAYS be victorious. Jesus died out of Love for all of us, and God wants our LOVE, and care and joy. Love will soon be with us, if we give love a chance, In Matthews 7: 7-10: we are told: Ask and you shall receive, that is easy and straight forward. We ask God for Love, then we thank God and share all love and care, and joy and compassion with our neighbour. Why not try it, mmbattlestar, we will be always kind and loving and helpful, as God wants us to be. I say this with love. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.

I do not know about US but in Finland when cars were first bought, sold and introduced there were no laws for seatbelts. Speedlimits were also not so clear. However someone thought that seatbelts were a safer thing so it became the norm. Law saved lives. The law was out of love for peoples lives, not to make them miserable.

God is not a cosmic kill-joy. His commandments are out of love for His children and their joy on earth and in the heavenly realms.

    John 15:11
These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

    John 16:24
Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

What ARE Jesus' commandments and precepts??
CHALLENGE: List them here with Copy+Paste Scripture.

    1 John 5:3
For this is the (RETURNED!) love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

It seems that some here have forgotten that the mosaic law includes but is not limited to animal sacrifices, aka old covenant while we are under the new covenant in which Christ is the Lamb that was slain for our sins thus the law was fulfilled. While that is true, Love is summary of what the law told us and what the prophets told us thus is not expired but takes on a different role.

Post edit. I decided to remove what I said.
I believe my words will be of benefit in another time and place.

Its very, very simple. Love is the way, the only right way, to keep the law. Its how we obey by the Spirit rather than by the letter, and its only accomplished as we enter communion with God, 'apart from whom we can do nothing'. John 5:15

How do you love God with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself? This too, in my opinion, is a work of the Spirit. I don't think we can keep those commandments, but we can cooperate with the work of the Spirit. For example, I know I have not arrived in my ability to love my enemies. However, when I have an enemy come against me, I turn to prayer and seek the Lord so I can respond the way He wants me to respond. But it is not automatic.

So basically you're saying without love there is no way we could be saved? I guess I agree with that.

I don't believe we can fully keep those commandments either. I've tried, (Including trying to keep the Sabbath) and It's really hard to fully keep the 10 commandments. But then again, only Jesus fully was able to keep the 10 commandments. Hope you eventually are lead to love your enemies as well. I know it can be hard sometimes. Good luck.

I can understand how you misunderstood my statement since I had quoted the whole verse. I was not equating the Mosaic law as being the same as the law of sin and death. The law of sin and death are the forces affection creation because of Adam's fall. But the law of love is higher than the Mosaic law (although it is an umbrella that law that the Mosaic law is under) because the Mosaic law could not cover all possibilities and that the Lord knew that it was impossible to fulfill the Mosaic law while we are sinners, so it was meant to magnify sin. Only a sinless man, Jesus, could fulfill the Mosaic law, and he did.

If I take your meaning the way I think you mean, yes, not lusting in your heart would be fulfilling the Mosaic commandments. However, it is not possible to not lust in your heart while unregenerate, and it is still difficult when born again.

You are now addressing something that I made no comment on. However, I am in agreement that grace has always been given to repent, not as license to sin. But your statement regarding Gentiles is misleading. We were never under the Mosaic law but have always been under the law of righteousness. This is the argument that Paul gives in chapter 2 of Romans. To be under the Mosaic law means to be a participant of that covenant. Only Gentiles who converted to Judaism (OT meaning, not Talmudic meaning) joined the Mosaic covenant.

The Mosaic covenant with its laws do not cover every law of creation. It is not possible to list every law, so God distilled it down to a manageable size, whatever that number is since the 613 laws I have been told includes laws penned by rabbis.

Thank you. As the days become more evil, we will all need to know how to love our enemies.

One thing that is clear but is often difficult to grasp ... agape love is not a feeling. It is an attitude, a determination, both leading to action. Thus you can love your neighbour even when your neighbour is your enemy. God loved us when we were still his enemies ... that didn't stop his action.

the only thing I would add is that it does sometimes come with strong emotion look at Christ's prayer in the garden. It's emotion, action, attitude and more and just for the record you are the first person other than my husband and I that I have heard say that Love is an attitude...which btw is scriptural...bravo to you, I am impressed.

    Hi
Jesus came as the Lamb of Atonement, where at baptism by John in the Jordan River, He took upon the sin of mankind "Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the World" (John 1:29)
Jesus fulfilled the law of redemption, hence she'd His blood to death remiting all sin of the World.
