Hello Alex,
I will pray for you now that I found your "thread".
I was never in a war, far from home like you are, but I do know now that when we ask Jesus to come into our heart, and be our Lord and Saviour, He does. He never leaves me, but I turn my back on Him at times. He is always waiting with his patience and love, for me to come running "home" to Him though.
I know how a desire for a woman, or like mine, my desire was to have my man. I wanted him so much, too much, because I put the Lord on the "back burner" All I could do was focus on my now, X-husband. My christian friends told me to look to Jesus, keep Him first in my life. Let Him "do the driving" in my life. But I didn't listen. Now I am alone, and 65. But then again, I am growing closer and closer to Jesus and He is more than enough.
Let Him take the lead in your life Alex, none of us are perfect at that, but I found if I took one, tiny step toward Jesus, it was like He took the rest of the steps to me. Pray/talk to Him, like He is sitting, standing and walking beside you, because He is.
Mat 1:23
“Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,”[fn] which is translated, “God with us.”
I also want to add, reading about David, (the guy who did ole Goliath in) brought me to a much deeper understanding of God. David made a ton of mistakes, but he always turned to back to God. You can find his story in the Old Testament (
1 Samuel 17). I'll leave you with a Psalm that David wrote as well Alex, and may God bless you. I know there will be a lot of prayers for you
:
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
