I decided to redo my original thread. There are some changes that The Holy Spirit brought out, and rather than muck up that thread, it would be better to just start new.

Read the ruleset prefix for this forum before you post. If you don't agree with the subject, voice your opinion in your own thread, not this one. This is for people who wish to talk a bit and have questions,... not debate.

If people would rather that I start a peanut gallery for this thread, I can do that also.

Going from when they are mentioned in scripture,...

1) A Familiar spirit

2) A spirit of Jealousy

3) The spirit of Whoredom

4) A Lying spirit

5) A Perverse spirit

6) A Prideful spirit

7) The spirit of Heaviness

8) A Legion of Unclean spirits

9) A Dumb and Deaf spirit

10) A spirit of Infirmity

11) A spirit of Divination

12) The spirit of Bondage

13) A Seducing/Deceiving spirit

14) The spirit of Fear

I highlighted a change on the list. Divination is dealing with futurist practices that are normally profitable for a person, whereas familiar spirits are associated with people who want to talk to the dead, like family members and such. They are similar but mentioned separately by The Holy Spirit, hence why I separated the two in the list.

I will copy/post the content from the other thread and do a clean up on each as I do.

Definitions/behaviors are initially taken from the Strong's definition of the specific Hebrew or Greek word, then the surrounding text(s) are compared to help define the stronghold.

1) A Familiar spirit

Lev 19:31 Turn ye not unto them that have familiar spirits, nor unto the wizards; seek them not out, to be defiled by them: I am The LORD your GOD.

Lev 20:6 And the soul that turneth unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto the wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.

Lev 20:27 A man also or a woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.

Deut 18:10-11 There shall not be found with thee any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one that useth divination, one that practiseth augury, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

1Sam 28:7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

Isa 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits and unto the wizards, that chirp and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their GOD? On behalf of the living should they seek unto the dead?

H3049 yidde‛ōniy: A masculine noun meaning a familiar spirit, a conjurer, and a wizard. In Levitical Law, this type of person was considered an abomination to the Lord (Deu 18:11). King Saul consulted such a medium when he desired to know the outcome of his war against the Philistines (1Sa 28:9). King Manasseh's evil deeds included the practice of consulting mediums and wizards (2Ki 21:6). Isaiah condemned the people of Israel for turning to the way of the Canaanites, who sought out mediums and wizards in order to hear from their dead (Isa 8:19).

H178 ’ôḇ: A masculine noun meaning a conjured spirit, a medium or necromancer, or a leather bottle. The primary use of the word is connected to the occult practice of necromancy or consulting the dead. It is used to signify a conjurer who professes to call up the dead by means of magic, especially to give revelation about future uncertainties (1Sa 28:7; Isa 8:19); a man or woman who has a familiar spirit (Lev 20:27; 1Ch 10:13; Isa 29:4); the conjured spirit itself, particularly when speaking through the medium (1Sa 28:8; 2Ki 21:6; 2Ch 33:6). The Israelites were strictly forbidden from engaging in such practices or consulting mediums (Lev 19:31; Deu 18:10-12). Interestingly, the word is used once to signify a leather bottle that may burst under pressure (Job 32:19). There is no convincing evidence that this particular reference has any occult connotations. Rather, the connection between the two divergent meanings of this Hebrew word is probably that a medium was seen as a "container" for a conjured spirit.

The word familiar is from the Latin familiaris, meaning a "household servant," and is intended to express the idea that sorcerers had spirits as their servants ready to obey their commands. Those attempting to contact the dead, even to this day, usually have some sort of spirit guide who communicates with them.

Familiar spirits are common with the practices of spiritism and witchcraft, but their activities are not limited to just that. Necromancy (supposed communication with the dead) is a serious facet/deception of the familiar spirits operation with people. Familiar spirits can also counterfeit The Holy Spirit's work in some ways.

As with anything occult, involvement with familiar spirits constitutes idolatry and creates spiritual defilement (uncleanliness).

A Familiar spirit is involved in all forms of occult activity, ventriloquism, witchcraft, voodoo, etc.

2) A spirit of Jealousy

Num 5:14 and a spirit of jealousy has passed over him, and he has become jealous of his wife, and she has been defiled. Or, a spirit of jealousy has passed over him, and he has become jealous of his wife, and she has not become defiled:

Prov 6-34 For jealousy is the rage of a man, and he will not spare in the day of vengeance.

Prov 14:30 A healthy heart is the life of the flesh, but envy is the rottenness of the bones.

Prov 27:4 Fury is fierce, and anger overflows, but who can stand before jealousy?

H7068 ִqin’āh: A feminine noun meaning zeal, jealousy. This word comes from the verb qānā’ (H7065), meaning to be jealous or zealous, and describes an intense fervor, passion, and emotion that is greater than a person's wrath and anger (Prov 27:4). It can be either good or bad: Phinehas was commended for taking up The Lord's jealousy (Num 25:11); but such passion can also be rottenness to the bones (Prov 14:30). It is used to describe a spirit of jealousy, which comes on a man for his wife (Num 5:14-15, Num 5:29). Most often, however, this word describes GOD's zeal, which will accomplish His purpose (2Ki 19:31; Isa 9:7; Isa 37:32); and will be the instrument of His wrath in judgment (Psa 79:5; Eze 36:5-6; Zep 3:8).

Murder, anger, rage, revenge, vengeance, competition, suspicion, wrath, envy, fury, etc, can all fall under the stronghold of Jealousy.

3) The spirit of Whoredom

Lev 19:29 Profane not thy daughter, to make her a harlot; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.

Num 25:1 And Israel abode in [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse]tim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab:

H2181 zānāh: A verb meaning to fornicate, to prostitute. It is typically used for women and only twice in reference to men (Num 25:1). This verb occurs in connection with prostitution (Lev 21:7; Prov 7:10); figuratively, Israel's improper relationships with other nations (Isa 23:17; Eze 23:30; Nah 3:4); or other gods (Exo 34:15-16; Deu 31:16; Eze 6:9; Hos 9:1). As a metaphor, it describes Israel's breach of The Lord's covenant relationship (Exo 34:16).

Hosea 4:12 My people ask counsel at their stock, and their staff declareth unto them: for the spirit of whoredom hath caused them to err, and they have gone a whoring from under their GOD.

Hosea 5:4 Their doings will not suffer them to turn unto their GOD: for the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not The LORD.

H2183 zenûniym: A masculine noun meaning fornication, prostitution, adultery, idolatry. Judah's daughter-in-law Tamar was accused of prostitution (Gen 38:24). This word can also be used to describe cities like Nineveh (Nah 3:4). Most often, it is used in a religious sense to describe, for instance, the unfaithfulness of Israel. Jezebel practiced idolatry (2Ki 9:22); and Jerusalem's idolatry was portrayed in a story where she was the prostitute Oho-libah (Eze 23:11, Eze 23:29). GOD commanded Hosea to take an unfaithful wife (Hos 1:2), who was also a picture of Israel (Hos 2:2; Hos 2:4; Hos 4:12; Hos 5:4).

All forms of idolatry and idol worship, love of money, love of self can be identified with this demon. All forms of prostitution, fornication, adultery, and unclean manifestations of the body can come under this stronghold.

4) A Lying spirit

1Ki 22:22 And The LORD said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt entice him, and shalt prevail also: go forth, and do so.

Jer 23:14-16 In the prophets of Jerusalem also I have seen an horrible thing; they commit adultery, and walk in lies, and they strengthen the hands of evil–doers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them become unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah. Therefore thus saith Jehovah of hosts concerning the prophets: Behold, I will feed them with wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall; for from the prophets of Jerusalem is ungodliness gone forth into all the land. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they teach you vanity; they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of Jehovah.

Ezek 12:24 For there shall not again be every vain vision, nor slippery divination, within the house of Israel.

H8267 šeqer: A noun meaning a lie, vanity without cause. This word is used of a lying witness (Deu 19:18); of false prophets (Jer 5:31; Jer 20:6; Jer 29:9); of telling lies (Lev 19:12; Jer 37:14); and of a liar (Prov 17:4). In other cases, it describes something done in vain (1Sa 25:21; Psa 33:17); or an action without cause (Psa 38:19; Psa 119:78, Psa 119:86).

Lies, vanity, actions without cause, deception, and superstition. This particular stronghold can be over all religious types of activities. Displays incorrect usage of the gifts of The Holy Spirit in services, outside of services etc. Displays outward control over situations, forcefulness, and stubbornness. Can also manifest itself as Godly, as always right and righteous, and gifted.

5) A Perverse spirit

Isaiah 19:14 Jehovah has mixed a perverse spirit in her midst; and they led astray Egypt in all his work; as a drunkard strays in his vomit.

H5773 ‛iw‛iym: A masculine plural noun referring to distortion, dizziness. It is a collective plural noun indicating staggering, dizziness. In context or figurative references, it describes a deluded and misled Egyptian people (Isa 19:14).

Prov 2:12 to deliver you from the evil way, from the man who speaks perverse things;

Pro 6:14 Perversion is in his heart, he deviseth evil continually; he soweth discord.

Prov 16:28 A perverse man causes strife, and a whisperer separates close friends.

H8419 tahpuḵāh: A feminine noun meaning perversity. It is used of a generation of Israelites who deviated and distorted the Lord's ways, turning from Him (Deu 32:20), for their true life is found in Him. It describes deceptive and corrupt speech, things that are distorted (Prov 2:12). Evil itself features perversity; a distortion of what is straight and right (Prov 2:14). Evil persons create perversity in their hearts (Prov 6:14). GOD hates a perverted mouth, perverted speech (Prov 8:13). A slanderer is a perverted person (Prov 16:28).

Prov 2:15 men whose paths are crooked, and who are devious in their ways.

Prov 3:32 For the perverse is an abomination to Jehovah; But his friendship is with the upright.

Prov 14:2 He that walketh in his uprightness feareth The LORD; but he that is perverse in his ways, despiseth Him.

Prov 23:33 Your eyes shall look on strange women, and your heart shall speak perverse things;

H3868 lûz: A verb indicating to be crooked, to be perverse, to be devious. It indicates what a person or nation trusts in. In context it indicates guile, deviousness, etc. found in political alliances with Egypt rather than trust in GOD's word (Isa 30:12). The wicked and perverse follow a path of perversity, crookedness, deviousness (Prov 2:15; Prov 3:32), and The Lord abhors them. Their way of crookedness shows that they despise and reject the Lord (Prov 14:2). In two passages, it has the sense of losing sight of something or of something being lost sight of (Prov 3:21; Prov 4:21).

To turn or twist throughout, or to distort and pervert. It describes deceptive and corrupt speech and behavior, things that are distorted, crooked, and having a twisted nature. Used metaphorically meaning to pervert, to turn away, seduce, mislead, and lead astray.

This demon hates GOD and His creation, but it is usually a hidden hate. It is discerned by the things they say. Perverse means to twist the truth, to corrupt it, to turn the truth around somehow. It uses scripture to approve its rights and deeds before mankind. Everything a person under this stronghold says is a lie that they believe to be truth. It’s the only demon that twists scripture to fit and validate itself and its deeds. Very devious in its ways. A very strong demon to remove, and must be discerned carefully. Controls all forms of Homosexuality, Lesbianism, Transsexualism, etc. All forms of lust and degenerate behavior can possibly fall under this demon. Incorrect and false biblical scholarship can also be under this stronghold.

6) A Prideful spirit

Prov 16:5 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to Jehovah: Though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished.

Prov 16:18-19 Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.

H1347 gā’ôn: A masculine noun designating pride, majesty, arrogance, excellence. It refers to the exalted majesty or excellence of the Lord (Exo 15:7; Isa 24:14; Mic 5:4) and even to His redeemed people and their pride in Him (Isa 4:2). It is used in a neutral sense to describe the proud, high waves of the sea (Job 38:11) and the thick growth or thicket around some areas of the Jordan (Jer 12:5). Israel, Jacob, Judah, and Israel are all depicted as possessing excessive pride (Jer 13:9; Amo 6:8), or, in some cases, these references may have a positive thrust to them.

H1363 gōḇah: A masculine noun referring to height, grandeur, dignity. Used literally, it refers to the tall aspects of something: buildings, trees, persons, heaven (1Sa 17:4; Job 11:8; Eze 1:18; Eze 19:11; Eze 31:10, Eze 31:14; Amo 2:9). It is employed figuratively to depict grandeur or dignity (Job 40:10) and in a negative sense excessive pride or arrogance (Psa 10:4; Pro 16:18; Jer 48:29).

Arrogance, excellence, exaltedness, majesty, pomp, pridefulness, proud, swelling, gossips. Domination, self-righteousness, wrath, fighting, contentions, division, mockery, stubbornness, control, can all fall under the stronghold of Pride.

7) The spirit of Heaviness

Isaiah 61:3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

H3544 kēheh: A feminine adjective meaning faint, dim, dark. It is used of the fading or healing of a skin disease causing discoloration (Lev 13:6, Lev 13:21, Lev 13:26, Lev 13:28, Lev 13:39, Lev 13:56). It describes eyes becoming dull or weak (1Sa 3:2); and a faintly burning wick (Isa 42:4). Isaiah uses it to describe a person's weak or fearful spirit (Isa 61:3).

Identified through certain behavioral traits. Grief, despair, hopelessness, depression, rejection, self-pity, gluttony, gloominess, loneliness. This stronghold tends to also take hold of people who were abused emotionally.

8) A Legion of Unclean spirits

Mar 5:1-9 And they came to the other side of the sea, into the country of the Gerasenes. And when he was come out of the boat, straightway there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, who had his dwelling in the tombs: and no man could any more bind him, no, not with a chain; because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been rent asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: and no man had strength to tame him. And always, night and day, in the tombs and in the mountains, he was crying out, and cutting himself with stones. And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him; and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, Thou Son of The MOST HIGH GOD? I adjure Thee by GOD, torment me not. For He said unto him, Come forth, thou unclean spirit, out of the man. And He asked him, What is thy name? And he saith unto Him, My name is Legion; for we art many.

G169 akáthartos; gen. akathártou, masc.-fem., neut. akátharton, adj. from the priv. a (G1), without, and kathaírō (G2508), to cleanse. Unclean.

Unclean as applied to the devils who are frequently called unclean spirits in the NT because, having lost their original purity, they are become unclean themselves and through their solicitations have polluted mankind with all uncleanness and every abomination which the Lord hates (Mar 5:2, Mar 5:8, Mar 5:13. See also Mat 10:1; Mat 12:43; Mar 1:23, Mar 1:26-27; Mar 3:11, Mar 3:30; Mar 6:7; Mar 7:25; Mar 9:25; Luk 4:33, Luk 4:36; Luk 6:18; Luk 8:29; Luk 9:42; Luk 11:24; Act 5:16; Act 8:7; Rev 16:13).

G3003 legeṓn; gen. legeṓnos, Lat. legio, A masculine noun. A legion, which is the largest division of troops in the Roman army, varying greatly in number at different periods as 3,000; 4,200; 5,000; 6,600. Used for an indefinitely great number of angels (Mat 26:53); of demons (Mar 5:9, Mar 5:15; Luk 8:30).

Additional scripture references related to the identification of this stronghold:

Mat 8:28 And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gadarenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming forth out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man could pass by that way.

Luk 8:29 For he commanded the unclean spirit to come out from the man. For oftentimes it had seized him: and he was kept under guard, and bound with chains and fetters; and breaking the bands asunder, he was driven of the devil into the deserts.

A large amount of demons acting jointly together as a stronghold. A person under such a strong influence of demonic power can demonstrate superhuman strength, violent and untamable behavior, criminal activities, and at times deliberate self-injury/harm tendencies, as was described in the text by him cutting himself with stones. This stronghold is easily able to take over a person’s will. It is a very strong demonic force to remove. It was able to resist Jesus to some degree.

9) A Dumb and Deaf spirit

Mark 9:17-25 And one of the multitude answered him, Master, I brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; and wheresoever it taketh him, it dasheth him down: and he foameth, and grindeth his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast it out; and they were not able. And he answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him unto me. And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him grievously; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long time is it since this hath come unto him? And he said, From a child. And oft–times it hath cast him both into the fire and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do anything, have compassion on us, and help us. And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst! All things are possible to him that believeth. Straightway the father of the child cried out, and said, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. And when Jesus saw that a multitude came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I command thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him.

G216 álalos; gen. alálou, masc.- fem., neut. álalon, adj. from the priv. a (G1), without, and laléō (G2980), to speak, utter sounds. Not speaking, unable to speak, dumb, incapable of making any noise with the mouth (Mar 7:37). In Mar 9:17, Mar 9:25, "dumb spirit" is a malignant spirit, dumb or silent through obstinacy or imposed by a higher power which is contrary to one's usual character (see Mar 1:24, Mar 1:34; Mar 5:7), hence Christ says this type of demon is difficult to be cast out (Mar 9:29).

Additional scripture references related to the identification of this stronghold:

Matt 17:14-15 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is epileptic, and suffereth grievously: for oft–times he falleth into the fire, and oft–times into the water.

A Dumb and Deaf spirit tormented the young boy, giving him suicidal thoughts and epileptic seizures. All forms of epilepsy, insanity, and seizures can come under this stronghold. Anorexia also falls under this stronghold as “pines away” means to wither away by weakness, weight loss, etc. This stronghold can also affect eyesight (Matt 12:22).

10) A spirit of Infirmity

Luke 8:2 and certain women which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary that was called Magdalene, from whom seven devils had gone out,

Luke 13:11 And behold, a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years; and she was bowed together, and could in no wise lift herself up.

Acts 19:12 insomuch that unto the sick were carried away from his body handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out.

G769 asthéneia; gen. astheneías, fem. noun from asthenḗs (G772), weak, sick. Weakness, sickness. In the NT, this word and related words, asthenḗs (G772), weak, sick, and asthenéō (G770), to be sick or weak, are the most common expressions for illness and are used in the comprehensive sense of the whole man. However, it can also refer to a special form of bodily weakness or sickness. Figuratively, asthéneia can mean general impotence, weakness (Rom 8:26). The noun occurs only seven times in the gospels. In Mat 8:17, a quotation from Isa 53:4, He (Christ on the cross) took our infirmities (astheneías), which means that, in His manhood, He took upon Himself the consequences of our sins without sinning Himself. He became mortal so that He could die for us.

Feebleness (of body or mind), malady, moral frailty, disease, infirmity, sickness, and weakness. All sicknesses and disease can come under the stronghold of infirmity.

11) A spirit of Divination

Act 16:16 And it came to pass, as we were going to the place of prayer, that a certain maid having a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying.

G4436 Púthōn; gen. Púthōnos, masc. proper noun. Python, the Gr. name given to the mythological serpent or dragon which lived at Pytho beneath Mount Parnassus and guarded the Delphic Oracle. The name then became the surname of Apollo, the god of divination in Greek mythology, and hence applied to all oracular and divinatory spirits. Such persons generally spoke with their mouth closed, uttering words considered beyond their own control, and so were also known as ventriloquists. Act 16:16 speaks of Paul meeting and subsequently exorcising such a spirit of divination from a young woman at Philippi. Luke uses the word manteuoménē (pres. part. of manteúomai [G3132], to divine, soothsay, never used of true inspiration or prophetic utterance, only here in NT) to describe her oracular speech, which was obviously inspired by a demonic power.

G3132 manteúomai; fut. manteúsomai, mid. deponent from mántis (n.f.), a soothsayer, diviner, which is from maínomai (G3105), to be mad, beside oneself. To divine or utter spells. Such soothsayers raged, foamed and screamed, making strange and terrible noises, sometimes gnashing with their teeth, shaking and trembling, with many strange motions. Plato calls people caught up in such ecstasy possessed of madness mánteis, from Muses which excited and inspired the mind into enthusiastic songs and poems. In many instances there was a real possession by the devil, e.g., in the case of the prophetic slave girl (Act 16:16, Act 16:18). The mánteis (pl.) were possessed of a maniacal fury which displayed itself by rolling eyes, foaming mouth, and flying hair. It is quite possible that these symptoms were sometimes produced by the inhalation of vapors or other drugs, as they were often aggravated in the seers, the Pythonesses, Sibyls, and the like. No doubt such belonged to a spiritual world not related to the true God, a relationship not with heaven above but with hell below.

As defined by Baker’s Evangelical Dictionary of Biblical Theology, Divination is the communication with a deity for the purpose of determining the deity's knowledge, resulting in a clarification of a decision or discernment of the future.

The term “divination” originates from Latin divinare "to foresee, to foretell, to predict, to prophesy" related to divinus, divine, or "to be inspired by a god." Divination is the effort to obtain insight into a question or situation by way of an occultic, standardized process, or ritual. To engage in divination is to reveal mysterious knowledge by supernatural practices. It is correlated with the occult and involves fortune-telling or soothsaying, as it used to be called.

Jeremiah 14:14 spoke of the false prophets of the time, saying, “They are prophesying to you a lying vision, worthless divination, and the deceit of their own minds.” Therefore, in contrast to God’s truth, divination is corrupt, dishonest, and fruitless.

A spirit of Divination is involved in all forms of ventriloquism, astrology, horoscope activity, tarot card reading, fortune telling, false prophecy, etc. It appears holy, all knowing of the future, and friendly. It has similar activities as a Familiar spirit.

12) The spirit of Bondage

Romans 8:15 For ye received not the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

G1397 douleía; gen. douleías, fem. noun from douleúō (G1398), to be a slave, to serve. Servitude, dependence, the state of a doúlos or slave. That state of man in which he is prevented from freely possessing and enjoying his life, a state opposed to liberty. In the NT, used only figuratively as a slavish spirit, in contrast to the spirit of sonship (Rom 8:15); of the condition of those who are subject to death (Rom 8:21); of those under the Mosaic Law (Gal 4:24; Gal 5:1); of those subject to the fear of death (Heb 2:15).

Bondage is all types and forms of fleshly and mental addiction. Every type of addiction can be under this stronghold: drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, social activities in life, etc.

13) Seducing/Deceiving spirits

1Tim 4:1-3 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which GOD hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.

G4108 plános; gen. plánou, masc.-fem., neut. plánon, adj. from planáō (G4105), to deceive. Deceitful, deceiving, seducing (1Ti 4:1); as a subst., a deceiver, impostor (Mat 27:63, 2Co 6:8, 2Jo 1:7).

This demonic stronghold misleads and deceives people with false teachings, not lustful thoughts and feelings. The word “spirit” is plural in the scriptures as there are many of this demonic force specializing in many types of false teachings. It deceives the mind of a believer, and then attempts to persuade the believer to mislead other believers with its false teaching. It asserts reasoning from the mind as truth under the premise of it being from GOD without sufficient scriptural support. Ultimately, it seeks to mislead a believer away from a direct personal relationship with The Lord Jesus throughout their Christian walk.

A false teaching can eventually be a person’s doctrine that they continually assert unto others, and can be discerned through this desire to talk/teach/preach relentlessly about it and associate with material and people who justify their incorrect doctrinal stances. All thoughts, beliefs, and teachings must be thoroughly tested by the believer with the truth of GOD's word and the revelation of The Holy Spirit.

The known documented false doctrines of Christianity that can be possibly associated with this stronghold are immense. Such things as bible codes, oneness Pentecostalism, Modalism, universalism, baptismal regeneration, etc, can all fall under this particular stronghold.

14) The spirit of Fear

Job 4:14 Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake.

2Tim 1:7 For GOD hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

G1167 deilía; gen. deilías, fem. noun from deilós (G1169), fearful, timid. Cowardice, timidity, reticence, fearfulness (2Ti 1:7, "a spirit of timidity" [a.t.], i.e., a fearful spirit).

Fearfulness, cowardice, timidity, reticence, terror, torment, nightmares, worry, inferiority complexes, phobias, inadequacies, all can be from the stronghold of fear.

Those are the 14 spiritual strongholds that I have found listed in our bibles. If anyone knows of one that I haven't listed here, present it and we can discuss it, but it has to have "spirit of" associated with it.

This whole thread kinda makes the cessationists who like to get mad every time they hear someone say, "I COMMAND YOU SPIRIT OF INFIRMITY TO GO IN JESUS NAME!" look dumb since they don't believe that "spirit of *whatever*" is biblical...

I guess the extent to which they 'look dumb' would depend on if there is a spirit of infirmity present and whether it obeys the command of the Charismatic. God Bless :)
