Why? Because the President of the company - the son of an immigrant, a minority owned and run company thanked the President publicly.
I suddenly think I need a bunch of Goya ingredients.

One, many of the people calling for the boycott are Latine themselves. Two, Robert Unanue is a third generation American. Three, while Goya does market to Latin AMerican communities, the Unanues themselves are Spanish, so saying that Goya is minority owned isn't really accurate. And he didn't "thank" the President as much as praised him. Saying we are "blessed" to have him as a leader is more then thanks. It implies an endorsement of the President, who many Latines feel is biased against us.

I posted about this the other day. Completely unreasonable and ridiculous.

From the article:

Bob Unanue praised Trump during an event at the White House

Goya Foods President and CEO Bob Unanue said on Friday that he is not backing down in the face of a boycott over his visit to the White House.

“We were part of a commission called the White Hispanic Prosperity Initiative and they called on us to be there to see how we could help opportunities within the economic and educational realm for prosperity among Hispanics and among the United States,” Unanue told "Fox & Friends."

Unanue said that the United States is the second-largest Hispanic country in the world behind Mexico.

Can’t go against the thought police! Any narrative that goes against them results in immediate attempts at intimidation.

How dare immigrant families donate millions of dollars of food to food banks and then say something positive about the President.

It’s absolutely insane. There is no defending it imo.

Remember when people used to respect presidents, even if they didn't agree with them on everything?
It's gotten ridiculous.
So maybe that's just when Democrats had the White House under Clinton and Obama for 16 years? Seems I ALWAYS heard that on CNN almost SHOCK and what a horrible thing that there would actually be some who didn't wish the President well as he led the nation.

Goya Foods Boycott Takes Off After Its President Praises Trump

That’s right, speak well of someone they don’t like and there is no toleration. If it was the Republicans, we would be hearing racist.
How could it be racist when it's started by the same ethnic people? They are racist against their own people? This is purely political and maybe even somewhat religious, saying that "We are truly blessed to have a leader..."

Goya Foods manufactures all kinds of staples you’ll find in the pantries of Latinx and non-Latinx families, not only in the United States but throughout Latin America: adobo sauce, beans, olives, seasonings. It’s also the largest Hispanic-owned business in the country. Now it’s become the target of a boycott led by Latinx activists.

Why does the far left hate the First Amendment so much? It's sad.

Maybe it will just end up being where companies will set up shop and do business in whatever region they feel will support them. Perhaps it needs to become a part of strategy and planning....were either going to be a red state company or a blue state one. People who won't allow diversity of thought may just end up forcing it that way. If that's the type of nation they want that's the type of nation they might get. Sad beyond belief!

Don't they already do that as a part of their marketing strategy?

I don't see anybody calling for the government to take action against the Goya company. The First Amendment protects speech from government interference, not private actors. This boycott is itself a form of free speech, saying that since they disagree with the statements made, they didn't think anybody should support them.

Could you explain this portion of your post please. Thanks.
Sure. The Unanue Family, who owns Goya, are not from Latin America. They are Spaniards from Europe. So saying they are minorities isn't really accurate.

Thank you, that does make a difference in the information that had been provided and the response to Unanue's remarks.
