LGBT ‘Pride’ Masses taking over multiple Catholic dioceses in England

ENGLAND, November 4, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – The Catholic diocese of Salford in north-west England has become the latest of multiple Catholic dioceses around the United Kingdom to begin hosting “LGBT+ Masses.” In Salford, as in the other dioceses, the LGBT+ Masses enjoy the support of their respective local bishops.

Advertisements for the Masses have become widely available in churches and on various official parish and diocesan websites. Many of these advertisements are emblazoned with the rainbow flag or popular Catholic images such as crosses or the Sacred Heart filled with the rainbow colours. Several of the groups involved in organizing these Masses take part in their local homosexual “pride” events.

In none of the advertisements or official publications about these Masses is the Catholic Church’s authoritative, constant teaching that homosexual sexual acts are inherently sinfulmade clear.

Playing a key role in the promotion and support of many of these Masses is the group “Quest.” Quest states on its website that it desires to see the “acceptance of homosexual relationships by the Catholic Church” and that its purpose is to help homosexuals reconcile their Catholic faith with the "full expression of their homosexual natures.” At their annual conference in 2018, Quest organizers showed a specially pre-recorded video presentation by the pro-homosexual celebrity priest Fr. James Martin.

This increase in LGBT+ Masses around the country has been welcomed by LGBT+ Catholics Westminster. This group has enjoyed the long-term support of Cardinal Vincent Nichols, who is both their local ordinary and the senior Catholic cleric in England. In March of this year, the group were given privileged seats at a papal audience in St Peter’s Square, Rome, after which they were invited to meet and take photographs with Pope Francis. They were introduced to Pope Francis by Martin Pendergrast, an ex-priest who has been in a civil union with Julian Filochowski, the former head of Cafod, since 2006.

Seems like sanity is arriving in the RCC.
With the first post-modern Pope in Francis who supports this, I see a crisis within the Catholic Church within months.

They ruined the Church of England (and the Episcopal Church in the USA) and now they're on to bigger things. Their victory is close enough to taste, having apparently captured the Vatican and now having the ability to choose all the bishops. Maranatha.

It’s sad to watch the church of my youth go through this crisis.

It's going to be interesting when there are joint Muslim/Catholic services.

Sanity? I suppose next adultery and sleeping around will be acceptable. Of course, we've just seen that idolatry is OK by some Catholic leaders. The problem is that God's word tells us that those practices disqualify people from the Kingdom of God. I would call that insanity.

That would be true of other denominations, but in this case...I don't know.

Catholics have been drifting away from the church over the past couple of decades because of disagreements with their leaders on one issue or another, but there is also a strong bond that other members feel regardless of everything else. That ol' "one true church" stuff keeps many of them in tow.

Look at the pedophile scandals. No longer can it be said that it's just a few bad apples here or there, but yet most members of the church continue to belong and attend, even if they are privately upset. Of course, that scandal is not seen; the idea of LGBT masses in the same church building, with advertising, could push the envelope.

It was the 'normalization' of "no fault" divorce (adultery) and premarital sex which opened the door for the 'normalization' of homosexuality in Western society.

There isn’t any rational parallel between “welcoming” divorcees to attend church and these “Pride masses.” You’ve compared apples to oranges.

Where will you be serving at the battle of Amageddon? Come back and fight.
If my prognosis is correct, I will be coming with the Lord by His Grace and Mercy. Lord willing a Captain of 100s or 1000s. :)

Traditional Catholics, I guess is now defined as those who actually follow the teachings of the Catholic church, will become isolated as Jorge Mario Bergoglio will not come to the rescue. He is endearing many of the cardinals and bishops John Paul II kept at arms length. Wonder if the SSPX ranks increase.

They are, as are FSSP. People vote with their feet and the happy clappy sin endorsing parishes lose out. Which is as it should be. Actually it should be that bishops shut down those parishes or replace the priest with a faithful one. Our archbishop did that for one parish, putting in a gung ho faithful priest. The 'leadership' took up residence at a Protestant church building down the way while he rebuilt the parish to be a normal and healthy one with immigrant outreach. The old 'leadership' fades away. Ever so slowly. I am sure they are buoyed by pope Francis and will hang on while he remains.
