Della Reese, singer and actress, passed away yesterday 11-19-17. Here is a thread to remember this talented lady.

As we remember, let's listen to this inspiring song. This is a favorite of mine.

Della had a great voice--very pure, clear, and strong, with perfect diction and excellent phrasing. This was her big #1 hit. The melody is a reworked version of Musetta's Waltz, an aria from Puccini's La Boehme. We've lost a major talent.

She was a beautiful lady who was also a great actress and made great strides for "women of color". She was quite underrated as far as singing went in my opinion. Rest in peace, Ma'am.
