I've been lamenting the lack of Protestant contributions to contemplative prayer. I was searching for sources and I came across this video where James K.A. Smith mentions that Calvin once considered the possibility of a place for a monastic vocation in Geneva. I wonder where to locate the source where Calvin mentions that.

The puritans wrote a lot about meditation. I would recommend Spiritual Exercises by Thomas Reade, The Raise and Progress of Religion in the Soul by Doddridge, The Valley of Vision, Piercing Heaven published by Lexham Press, Solitude Improved by Divine Meditation by Ranew...etc.
