Last full U.S. combat brigade pulls out of Iraq - World news - Mideast/N. Africa - msnbc.com
Thought it would be a change of pace from all of the "Mosque being built vaguely near Ground Zero" threads that have been plaguing this forum. Last truck rolled through about an hour ago now. Saw it live on MSNBC.

Is this much different from this:

Mission accomplished... yet still there all these years later.

The last "combat" troops are now out... but there are still 50,000 American military personnel in the country.

You can say that the "war" is over, that "combat operations" are over, as much as you like, but it should be clear to everyone when you have 50,000 American servicemen and women on the ground, this is far from over. It is pure spin.

Yep pure spin. It is also in time for the November elections.

Now when Democrats come to the voting booths and ask, "So, what have you done for us?" They will say, "we won a war."

It is most certainty baloney but it's about the closest thing to an actual success that they have had so far.
