That came up at the end, and WI law states your barrel as to be a certain size for for minors. The length was legal for his age according to WI law. The short barrel guns are restricted, and his wasn't short barreled. I believe that area is also open carry.

If I were guessing? WI has plenty of very rural areas in which you may need a weapon against animals and what not. No doubt that was part of the thinking when the law was written. You have to take into account the population where the law is.

From what I heard while listening to the trial while we were catching up on projects? Rittenhouse has a pretty good chance of acquittal. I was actually surprised at HOW MUCH the media had got wrong about this case so far, and now that the trial is over? Keep repeating it even though it has been debunked.

I mean I had NO idea Mr. Bicep guy was carrying a gun that night. He also lied to the police, and wasn't cooperative either. In his video that night? He called Kyle a proud boy, etc - the extremist groups we hear about. Come to find out? They went though his social media, phone, etc and found nothing there. Yet, Mr. Bicep guy was affiliated with extreme groups himself. What threw me? When the DA told the jury that just because Mr. Bicep guy pointed a gun at Rittenhouse's head? He shouldn't have shot him, because Rittenhouse's gun was bigger. I mean ???? what??!

I think your last comment has to do with the court base in Georgia. Al Sharpton is there - not in Wisconsin.

I found a new clip regarding the length of it.

    Got it.

Still, what would you think seeing a teen running through the streets toward a protest with
a firearm like that ? If I had a gun on me, I'd try to stop him. Perhaps this is what happened ?

    Question for all:

Given Rittenhouse carrying that weapon to a protest, if anyone had shot him, would they also be able to claim self defense?

No, as self defence requires an imminent reasonable perceived threat of death or great bodily harm.

    For Kyle...
Rosenbaum had verbally threatened his life twice, chased him despite Kyle being armed, lunged for his gun, placing his hand on the barrell and yelled abuse whilst doing so.
Yellow pants man, kicked him in the head so hard he spun 180
Huber twice hit him in the head with a large skateboard and was pulling the gun from him
Grosskruetz pointed an illegal, loaded pistol at Kyle, and was only shot after that. (Permit was not valid)

He didn't shoot the guy who hit him in the head with a rock and knocked off his hat
Nor the guy who was charging him but put up his hands and backed off.

Prosecution said Kyle should have been a man and dropped his gun and had a fist fight or just plan taken his beating from the mob.

It was more riot that night than protest. No doubt protests could have been happening in other parts of Kenosha.

According to the video they showed and the testimony? Rittenhouse was actually running away from Rosenbaum when poop hit the fan. He wasn't running towards a protest.

I guess rioters had started a fire in a dumpster, and Rittenhouse used the fire extinguisher to put it out. Then the chase was on when Rosenbaum became irate over the fire being put out - which according to testimony from others wasn't the first time he did so that night (acting irrationally). He was going around threatening people - along with Kyle and party a couple of times. Just my opinion here - they should NOT have allowed him to leave the mental hospital that night. The man was jacked up, and wasn't in his best mindset. The videos of him in action that night that they showed in court? He was out of his mind. He was characterized as highly aggressive and irate from witnesses. Poor guy was a disaster waiting to happen IMO. I think they said he chased Kyle for 2 blocks - if memory serves - and when Kyle turned around in the car lot after he heard a gunshot behind him. Witnesses said Rosenbaum yelled FU and lunged at him like a football player while going for his gun. They found stippling on his hands, and gun powder on his arms - and bottom of his chest. I guess Stippling - which I never heard of - comes out the barrel lands close range. Gun powder lands I think it was 6-8 inches away from barrel.

Many people from the video they showed had guns that night. He had no issues until he put out that dumpster fire. I wasn't impressed with the DA at all. The defense? They were okay, but no great shakes either IMO. The judge seemed fair, and I'm not sure what trial some of the media was watching. Although, he did get heated when the DA tried to use Rittenhouse's 5th amendment right against him. I guess that is a HUGE no no in court, and then he tried to enter aspects that the judge denied being allowed in the case because it wasn't relevant. He got pretty heated then to - especially after he did the 5th amendment deal.

    I'm confused by the question.

There would be alot of dead people that night if just carrying gun - many others were too - to claim self defense. lol I mean the person that shot them would be guilty too if that is all the justification needed.

Yeah. That comment kind of blew my mind as well. They claim he was coward that wouldn't just fight and get beat up.

And we've seen people beaten to death in these riots. And kicked in the head.
But yeah, you have no right to defend yourself if a violent pedophile or mob decides to kill you.
Be a man and take it. Meanwhile, they call the people who burned down the city heroes. I am really disgusted by this prosecution, this is what passes for public service these days?

That DA was awful. His closing arguments? What was he thinking?! Seriously. He was saying things like he Rosenbaum wasn't grabbing the gun - which goes against his OWN forensics witness. lol and more than one witness on the ground that was there. lol which were HIS witnesses for his side! Then he says that Mr. Bicep man never pointed his gun at Rittenhouse - which Bicep man admitted to and they video evidence of. He is now claiming the gun was pointed at Rittenhouse AFTER his arm was shot off. Claims it was an involuntary moment.

The way Rosenbaum was acting that night? Just my opinion, because he was acting violently and irrationally. If he had got that gun away from Rittenhouse? No doubt in my mind he would have used it, and not just against Rittenhouse either. He clearly should have stayed in that mental hospital. He wasn't stable at all.

The part I'm more worried about at this point? People are going to target the jury if he is acquitted. They have already tried to take pictures of them to dox, etc. Will they have to courage to render a verdict they want to - or feel for their safety have too.

One of the things that really bugged me about this trial is that it seemed like the prosecution would just blatantly lie, and that was okay. These are the people who are supposed to represent us, but they are viciously and deceptively trying to destroy this kid's life. Just to further their own career, I guess.

I won't even get into the way the media has twisted this case.

The media won't bring up key issues in this case, because they will want to save face.

The public no longer has the right to know IMO.

Even the small lies by the prosecutor team, must surely hurt them, such as guns don't have handedness.
Or pointing a gun at the jury and placing your finger on the trigger.

Letting people like Al Sharpton into the court room really bothered me.

He had nothing to do with this case and was there for the mere purpose of
intimidating the jury. Hopefully, they'll stand strong and vote justly.

As has been noted before, I don't think Sharpton was present at the Rittenhouse trial. Apparently MSNBC "mistakenly" ran a story saying that the Rittenhouse defense wanted Sharpton removed, but they had it confused with the Arbery case, where Sharpton actually was. Sharpton has commented on the Rittenhouse case, but I don't think he actually showed up there, or at least I can't find any reference to it.

The news showed Sharpton and said he was there. However, now I'm not sure
he was at the trial or they just showed a video of him at some other event.

    He's a extortionist.

Yes, I googled it because you were not the only one I heard stating this. The new headline is that MSNBC inaccurately claims Rittenhouse attorney asked for him to be removed. No doubt they have corrected that in ways they can. I think they just got the two locations mixed up. It happens.

I'm a little surprised it took more than 1 day to reach "not guilty". Guess the jury was being really thorough. As testimony came out about the actions of those who confronted him, I thought it was really clear he was naïve and foolish to put himself in that position, but once there he was legally acting in self defense.

Conversely, I think the testimony has made it likely the defendants in the Arbery murder trial will find themselves under "guilty" verdicts early next week.

Both of these cases did not seem really difficult once all facts were brought out.
