We know their faith has distinctions from ours....the point is, most people don't know all the ways it overlaps. Also....there is so much hate (and untruths) about Muslims....I think it's a beautiful thing for us Christians to welcome them as friends (in spite of our differences).

It is uncanonical to allow them to use our church buildings, especially for purposes of denying the deity of our Lord.

Church 'deeply distressed' by Koran offence, says primus - BBC News

Just thought i would post this news story on this event.

Police probe abuse aimed at cathedral where Koran read - BBC News

Disturbing how they apparently wish to criminalize dissent. Thankfully the First Ammendment denies the ECUSA an equivalent potential, or else I expect websites like Stand Firm, and indeed members on this site, might experience unpleasant incidents for offering legitimate criticisms of the decline of the Episcopal Church, the mass lawsuit campaign against departing parishes, et cetera.

You're certainly free to believe that (when even what you posted as a definition disagrees). I have no problem with that.

St. John of Damascus classified Islam as a Christian heresy, a variant form of Arianism, and I think he was right to do so.

It's not "dissent" being criminalized. There have been criminal threats against the church and the prevost:

Glasgow cathedral receives threats after Qur’an readings

The Provost, and the Cathedral in general have been subject to the spectrum of disapproval from commentors as a result, from the “disgusted” to the slightly less honest “Sad and disappointed” to the full “we’ll burn you down you heretic” threats of physical violence. ~ Taking Offence

Queen's Chaplain Who Questioned Quran Prayers in Cathedral Steps Down After Attempts to 'Silence, Defenstrate' Him

The queens Chaplian who spoke out against the actions of the Church leaders has been punished.

“I am fairly clear in my own mind that my duty to my conscience, to my orders, to my understanding of Christianity and my vocation, is that I’m supposed to be speaking out in the public space on behalf of the Christ I serve”.

The Reverend Ashenden has been a target of controversy for his outspoken views on faith in the modern world for some years. The Independent reported in 2015 on his remarks on Islam, which he said “invites people to violence”, and that passages in the Quran “tell you to kill your enemies”.

When warned his comments could be found offensive by practicing Muslims, the Rev. replied: “If they are offended by my quoting the Koran they are not offended by me, they are offended by the Koran”.

Standing up for the truth will get you punished.

Come quickly Lord Jesus

I am wondering if this verse in the Bible applies here,
Revelation 18:4
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Comeout of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

I don't see why I would need to apologize for what I said about Brietbart. It's true.

Opinions everybody is entitled to one right or wrong.

The statement below is from a man of conviction unlike the leaders of the church. He is standing in the breach for Jesus.

“I am fairly clear in my own mind that my duty to my conscience, to my orders, to my understanding of Christianity and my vocation, is that I’m supposed to be speaking out in the public space on behalf of the Christ I serve”

A passage from the Koran that denies one of the central tenets of the Christian faith was sung aloud at a cathedral service in Scotland.
The passage from Surah 19, which specifically denies that Jesus was the Son of God and says He should not be worshipped, was sung during a Eucharist service at St Mary’s Episcopal Cathedral in Glasgow to mark the feast of the Epiphany.

A video of the recital was posted on YouTube showing a girl singing the passage in a typical Islamic style. It narrates the Islamic account of the birth of Jesus, which includes the claim that Mary was “ashamed” after giving birth, and the infant Christ miraculously spoke from the cradle – something not found in Christian scripture.

She then concludes by singing verse 35, which states in translation: “It befitteth not the Majesty of Allah that He should take unto Himself a son,” and then verse 36, which has the infant Jesus saying: “And lo! Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. That is the right path.”

The cathedral praised the reading in a Facebook post, calling it a “wonderful event”.

However, retired Anglican bishop Michael Nazir-Ali strongly condemned it, saying it was especially inappropriate for the feast of the Epiphany, which celebrates the revelation of Christ as the Son of God.

Christian Today quotes him as saying: “The authorities of the Scottish Episcopal Church should immediately repudiate this ill-advised invitation.”

“Christians should know what their fellow citizens believe and this can include reading the Qur’an for themselves, whether in the original or in translation. This is not, however, the same thing as having it read in Church in the context of public worship,” he added.

“It is particularly insensitive to have this passage read in Church on the Feast of the Epiphany when we celebrate not only Christ’s manifestation to the gentiles but also his baptism and the divine declaration, ‘you are my beloved son in whom I am well pleased’.”

The Scottish Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which also includes the Church of England and America’s Episcopalian Church.

Koran Verse Denying Divinity of Christ Sung at Episcopal Cathedral Service

The cathedral’s Facebook page also proudly publicises a press report on the provost’s Christmas sermon, in which he compared U.S. President-Elect Donald Trump to the biblical King Herod, who ordered the massacre of children.

God have mercy!!!

Praying!!!
