Boy, now that's a terrible typo! Isaiah 11:6 says: "the wolf also shall dwell with the lamb", not the "lion shall lie down with the lamb". Shameful inaccuracies! Go figure...

The misreading "the lion shall lie down with the lamb" seems to date from around 1800. I can't find any record of it from before then.

I think that your memory of John MacArthur also has problems.

He seems to only use the phrase in his commentary on Luke 1:67-80, and does not pretend that it's a scriptural quote.
