That would sadden me, too.
Very shallow.

We can only hope for the fellowship there, that they are not so shallow.

The Lord will be returning for a church 'on fire' for Him ...
and we know what He has said about the lukewarm church.
I don't think any of us here would want to be listed amongst the lukewarm.

And so, if I were 'church shopping', I do not think I would visit that church ...
until I knew more about it.

Honestly I think what is really sad here is that we are unsure if it's a serious call to join the congregation because of how their minister looks or a joke.

That says so much about how far the church has fallen.

I would vote that it was a joke, and probably one with local ties.
Maybe one of the local men's clubs is holding a contest to decide who is the handsomest man in town??
( Similar to a town beauty contest, only for men)
And so the church decided to get in on the fun, and nominate their Pastor...??

I went to Catholic High School & remember one of the Priests was super good looking.

Later on in the school year, we learned that priest was going to marry one of the Sisters who taught at the school.
It was pretty shocking!

Probably an inside joke, but it's unwise to put an inside joke out publicly like that when the public doesn't understand the context.
