Judge rules against Trump in records dispute with Congress
WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge in Washington ruled Monday against President Donald Trump in a financial records dispute with Congress.

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, who was appointed by President Barack Obama, said Trump cannot block a House subpoena of financial records. He said the Democratic-led House committee seeking the information has said it believes the documents would help lawmakers consider strengthening ethics and disclosure laws, among other things.

The committee's reasons were "valid legislative purposes," Mehta said, and it was not for him "to question whether the Committee's actions are truly motivated by political considerations

The "ruling" still has 2 levels of federal court to go through, district and supreme court. Let us see how other high ranking political figures will fare when this ruling is applied to them. I would wager that other high ranking political figures won't be so ready to open all their records to congressional scrutiny for the purpose of "the documents would help lawmakers consider strengthening ethics and disclosure laws, among other things."
The old guy thinks this is an overly broad term which could open everyone's records to government scrutiny. Seems I read a book and saw a movie about something like this written in 1948 by George Orwell the title was "1984."

I can't even keep track of how many times President Trump has obstructed justice since the publication of the redacted Mueller report. Emboldened by the cover-up orchestrated by the Attorney General, Trump feels he needs to be accountable to no one, including the American people. Trump's son, Donald Junior, has said that his father was kept afloat by Russian loans when his credit was too poor to get American ones. For that reason alone we need to see his tax returns. Fear that his creditors will call in their markers is a powerful motivator, and he has acted very oddly about Russia, so oddly that the idea of Russian blackmail needs to be explored fully.

Obstructed justice???
Seriously? What justice is there when the opposing party spies and tries to take down an elected President?

They work with other governments to create documents full of lies and fabrication that they pass off to the FISA courts?

This is so far from over! The democrats are going to be so unhappy that they pushed the issue! Truth and justice will reign supreme!

Yes, we've heard the Republican talking points, unfortunately for the Republicans it takes more then screaming and stomping their feet for everyone not committed to believing all the myths Republicans want their base to believe.

shouldn't you should be presenting your evidence of this happening to law enforcement instead of here? Because I'm sure they would all be interested in seeing your proof for the above.

This is so far from over!
On this point we can agree. ;)

The democrats are going to be so unhappy that they pushed the issue!
Or they wont because, as you said, it's far from over. :)

Truth and justice will reign supreme!
After Jesus comes back, that will be true. Till then? We'll just try and do our best. :sigh:
