Hello all. As Christians, I believe that it is important to spend some time in quiet reflection on the word of God--the Bible. Journaling is one of the best ways to accomplish this. While it is o.k. to do your journaling in a plain spiral note-book, or on plain paper, etc., the problem with these methods is that, along with your inner reflections, you may inadvertently jot down, other impertinent information on your journal pages such as phone numbers, shopping lists, etc. If you have a formal journal such as a bible-study journal, you will be far less likely to use it to jot down unrelated things. Additionally, you will want to have a journal to chronicle your Christian ideas and thoughts, so that you can go back and reflect on ways that you have grown and areas for improvement. I have journaled at various points in life. It seemed a good idea when young. Upon passing the marker of more of my days being behind me than in front of me, the question loomed of whether I want to leave a written record of all the thoughts and feelings passing through my mind. If one isn't brutally honest in their journal entries, what is the point? If one has to censor their own journal entries, what is the point?

On the other hand, the shredder is your friend. It is easier to rip pages from a spiral bound notebook than from a bound volume shamelessly promoted by the book creator's first post to CF.

I was waiting for that response that I knew would come from critics clothed in the garments of Christians. I suppose people who sell the bible are shameless promoters of self as well?

In that case, I am glad I did not disappoint you. It is customary here for one to make their first post in the "Introduce Yourself" section before posting elsewhere. And just so you know, your comment about "critics clothed in the garments of Christians" seems perilously close to violation of forum rules against suggesting that other members aren't Christians. But, welcome to the forum. Enjoy your stay here.
