    Joe Biden Is Electrifying America
The United States has always been prosperous when it invests in its people, shouldn't we go back to the model that made this country prosperous? Shouldn't we select models that have a better return on investment?

    Of course we should.

Some Americans may be lulled into a false sense of security, thinking that when the stock market's happy, everybody's happy. TBT, 80% of capital gains go to the top 10%, and about 40% go to the top 1%.

Did you know (shocking fact) that if you have money in an IRA or 401K that when you withdraw it when you retire you are not paying taxes at capital gains rates but at ordinary income rates, even if you had your money invested in stocks the entire time?

Do you know that if you die with let's say $500,000 in stocks you bought for $100K over the years, that your children will inherit the $500,000 without paying any estate taxes--and that if they cash in the stocks a month after you die for $505,000 they will only pay capital gains taxes on $5,000?

But if you die and leave your children $500,000 in an IRA, they will have to put their shares into their own IRA's and won't even be able to spend the money without penalty until they're 59?

If the stock market's happy, it means little to average Americans. They should be stewing that businesses took their corporate tax cuts and, instead of increasing wages or hiring more people, they bought back stock to raise stock prices for the 1%.

Education and other intiatives to help children will lift up opportunities for children, for families, and for future generations. It is a far better investment than tax cuts.

The truest statement Biden made on 4/27 was that "Trickle down economics has never worked."

    Hmmm...

"The most important thread of Biden’s program is his plan to use child allowances to cut America’s child poverty in half. Biden’s main misstep is that he would end the program in 2025 instead of making it permanent; Congress should fix that."

    Not a misstep; political genius.

If Biden is re-elected (or Harris or some other Democrat takes the helm) in 2024, he can score some political points by extending it then.

If the GOP takes back the White House, they can either extend it, or commit political hara-kiri by letting it die on their watch.

In all fairness, what would be the point of posting "facts" to people who don't believe in facts?

No. We are now living in a different dispensation. We had the 1950's-1970's to "invest in people". We're done with that. Now we have decided that money should go to the people who will use it best: the ultrawealthy. Turns out poor people, while they spend money and keep the economy rolling, don't do a great job buying legislators. Legislators got a bit more expensive over the years so we had to start putting more money into that.

When we place our hope in government, surely tyranny is given a foothold. The amount of people begging for more government is astounding, and disheartening.

FDR's policies was the fabric that created the foundations for government dependency, forced and forces the fruits of our labors from us, and lays the tracks to transport us into socialism. No thanks. Get all of it repealed....all of it.

When we lose hope in government, surely anarchy is given a foothold.

The amount of people who until recently begged for the government of one man (and charged the Capitol, doing a lot more than begging) was downright frightening.

The alternative was the Great Depression and economic collapse. Perhaps you would've preferred that, but I, for one, am glad FDR fulfilled his Constitutional mandate and did what needed doing to protect the country.

One can lose hope in the federal government and still have hope in their lower ones. If one lost all hope in all government, then yes.

Yeah, pales in comparison to Ms. Susan Rosenberg and her friends though...can you imagine if one of them had set a bomb off in the Senate building? Whew...now THAT would have really fit the definition! But yet, are we to forget real insurrections and instead skew the definition to fit that of someone hopping through a window and getting shot by police?

"protection" at the cost of the American people. Seems unconstitutional.

The lower governments are subservient to the federal government. We are still the United States of America.

If nothing else, the Federal government can set a positive example for the lower ones... something it has failed/refused to do in recent history.

Well, she didn't, so your hypothetical is but a momentary distraction.

Hopping through a window of the US Capitol while chanting "Hang Mike Pence!" doesn't seem very skewed to me.

As for getting shot by police, who was it that said, "When the looting starts, the shooting starts"?

Without it, what would have been left to protect.

Don't think for a moment that I don't love the Constitution, but you know what they say about desperate times...

10th amendment is still a thing. Article V permits the states to change the Constitution.

We will differ in what we consider "positive" then.

    She didn't what?

If she had a weapon or some rope, I'd buy what your comment's selling. I'm not though.

What was she looting? Do you support that saying or attitude?

The rights of the people; that's always been the purpose of government.

Most days, I wake up and come to CF, and am more and more convinced the Constitution is in jeopardy. I am rather convinced people are willing to sell off their rights for money they didn't earn.

You’re living 150 years in the past. We love what little socialism we have. (Which is more properly termed a social safety net.) If you’re serious, you should try running for office on a platform of repealing Social Security, or Medicare, or unemployment. See how far you get.

Unemployment taxes are only paid by the employer not the employee. As far as Medicare & SS are concerned if everyone was going to receive a refund for everything they paid in, their employer paid in and the accumulated interest received.....yeah, there might be some serious interest in that since you can do much better return wise in the market. But to do what you suggest, just give it up and walk away......only a fool would do that.

I'd rather adhere to the founding principles of this country, namely for the sake of liberty for her people and the next generation, than bend the knee to socialists and tyrants. I have children to keep free and neighbors and countrymen I have concern for. I don't want to see them robbed (of their liberties or the fruits of their labors) either.

Why does it seem a large faction wants to be slaves to the state these days? Has history taught us nothing of socialist implementations, or are these members of said faction just ignorant of that history? Maybe they want to be slaves. Peaceful slavery is definitely easier than dangerous freedom, at least temporally.

IF enough of the states work together. One way or another, we are united.

    Obviously.

Get convicted for bombing the Senate --those charges against her were dropped.

In any event, that attack on the Capitol was far more coordinated and professional than the 1/6 riot... even though, as a terrorist attack, it was doomed to political failure (terrorism tends to backfire drastically in that regard).

Those who did have weapons and rope found her to be a useful bullet shield... proof that even the dumbest would-be "army" knows the value of cannon fodder.

I didn't care for it when it was said, but if we cannot have justice, perhaps we can at least have consistency. Either it was right then as well as now, or it was wrong then as well as now.

Like you, I don't approve when either side loots or riots.
I, however, acknowledge that both sides have done it.

The dead have no rights to protect... the government has to keep us alive to do its job.

Is the sky actually falling, or just in a rapid descent?

Ignoring the fact that "earned" is a subjective term, what will they do with that money if they get it?
