Carter is one of the best Presidents the United States ever had. And for that, he got no respect.

Happens in other countries, too. Everyone says how much they long for a good king. And then the people show zero respect when they actually get one. Pretty soon he gets assassinated. Gustav of Sweden and pretty much all the good czars of Russia come to mind.
