Was Jesus middle eastern? Or was he Caucasian?
Jacob, the father of Israel, was the twin brother of Esau who is described as “Adomni” which is translated as ruddy, red haired, or golden haired in Gensis 25:25.

David, King of Israel is also described as “Adomni” in 1 Samuel 16:12 meaning he had red or golden color hair

Joseph of the Old Testament married an Egyptian woman in Genesis 41:45 however Egyptians at this time, particularly the Egyptian elite, were fair skinned people. An examination of King Ramses II, a Biblical contemporary at the time, has showed that this Egyptian Pharo was a natural red head. In addition thousands of red and blond haired mummies have been found in Eygpt and the famous King Tut shares DNA with 50% of modern Western Europeans.

In the Bible we are told that Jesus has white or red hair. Revelation 1: 13-16 describes his hair as white as snow, or another translation can read “burning in a furnace” which would indicate red, like a flame

Also, Christian visions of Jesus/Mary do not support typical dark-skinned, "arabic" or "palestinian" type of look, but a look much more similar to an European type.

Depictions of Christ as having fair or reddish hair are the most common place depiction of Jesus since the beginning of Christianity.

It is only logical that the look of the Son of God was atypical, extraordinary and esthetic.

Jews, Levantines, Persians, and Syrians were all light skinned at that time. It wasn't until the Muslim conquests that everyone in the middle east became so dark. The Jews were heavily mixed with the philistines and Canaanites who were descendants of Greeks. Christ probably would have resembled someone from the Mediterranean at the time.

Wow, scripture tell us: Is. 53: 2
He grew up before him like a tender shoot,

and like a root out of dry ground.

He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,

nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

Jesus was very plan looking, making him very approachable by the people in His area, which is what God wants from all of us.

Levantines such as myself are still light skinned by the way.

He was Israeli, and looked just like Israeli men of today.

Most modern Israeli men today descend from Eastern European Jewish converts, at least of the Ashkenazi variety

White refers to purity...I suppose.

It definitely does. White is what we see when all light waves are reflected. Purity is the absence of defects in an object, such as pure gold. Jesus is perfect; he is pure.

There is something else on a related note: white is the opposite of black, which is traditionally the color of death. Also, white brings light and black brings darkness. So both scientifically and artistically white is life (what Jesus gave us) and black is death (what Jesus saved us from).

Why, then, should we asumme just because Jesus lived in the Middle East, he is dark skinned? He can be, as the Son of God, "white" aqd without black hair despite his lineage to be as similar to the white lamb in Exodus as possible. I am not saying this strange idea holds water, but it is something to think about.

Thanks for that, but I gave a genetic tree; yours seems to be a combined genetic/language tree (and I'm not sure if that's even valid).

No, the one you posted was the one with a language component. it was also from the 1990s.

VERY doubtful...He fit in with other Jews...there was nothing about Him that appeared different from other Jews...

Supposedly the Iraqi Jews are the closest to the original Judeans, heres an old picture of them:

Middle Eastern. Not that it matters. He could have been black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Native American, Indian... wouldn't have changed a thing.

Actually, no, He HAD to be a Jew...

When discussing any perosn's appearance, you have to look beyond the skin and hair colors. His eyes are not necessarily brown - more often redheads have green or blue eyes. His head shape may not always be accurate in pictures either. People make guesses and come up with slightly different images.

The khazars, a eastern European nation that lived in what is now Crimea. They had an alliance with Byzantium for several centuries but they were all Jewish converts from Tengri (asiatic steppe paganism)

Later they settled in the Rus, Poland, and Hungary.
