You are mistaken: God made promises to the descendants of Jacob, and he is NOT a God that breaks promises. And this very city you call unholy is the very city to which Jesus will descend. Jews and other Hebrews have just as much right to believe in Jesus as we do - in fact, MORE right, because they were the original tree. And the day will come they WILL believe - but most probably not until they see the holes in Jesus' hands.

According to John, She IS. You just don't believe it yet.
Aforehand? Why not follow scripture instead of human reasoning.

Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.

Revelation 18:10 Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.

Revelation 18:17 For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off,

Revelation 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

So WHEN does this happen? It is in chapter 18. Just so you know, the events of chapter 18 will take place JUST before Jesus returns as shown in Rev. 19. The 70th week has finished, the Beast leaves Jerusalem with His armies, heading towards the valley of Megeddo. Satan HATES Jerusalem and through the Beast and these "ten kings" and their combined armies, they will destroy Jerusalem and set everything on fire that will burn. Jesus returns just in the nick of time to rescue some that are probably held captive there. The point is, it is the last hour.
Not during the last hour they don't!
It is not at all "obvious" because it is not the intent of the Author.
No, it is because most use human reasoning. Everyone reasons differently
Now you have left scripture and entered human reasoning. What did Daniel write?

Dan. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

Sorry, but human imagination usually is against scripture. The 70th week is for DANIEL'S people and the Holy City of Jerusalem. This is scripture! It is the Author - the Holy Spirit's intent.

And that city will be the very city to which Jesus will descend when He returns.

    Daniel 11:45
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

What is the glorious holy mountain? Mt. Zion - another name for the temple mount in Jerusalem.

    In Psalms 2
1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

    _______________________________________________________

The beast, the false prophet, and Satan - all three will be there on the temple mount when Jesus returns. Satan will be exposed for all the world to see, when the statue image of the beast is brought to ashes.

One hour is an expression of a short period of time. It is not a specific amount of time in every verse. It depends upon the context.

The ten kings rule with the beast for one hour - the one hour is the forty months in Revelation 13, as in that chapter, the ten horns have their crowns.

Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

The one hour in Revelation 18 which the world's economy at the time will collapse is a very short amount of unspecified time. In Revelation 6, that the world's economy will have collapsed is indicated by the rider on the black horse having scales.

Revelation 6:5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

    Revelation 17:1
And there came one of the seven messengers, who were having the seven vials, and he spake with me, saying to me, ‘Come, I will shew to thee the judgment of the great whore, who is sitting upon the many waters,
    No
    Revelation 18:1
And after these things I saw another messenger coming down out of the heaven, having great authority, and the earth was lightened from his glory,
    Revelation 19:1
And after these things I heard a great voice of a great multitude in the heaven, saying, ‘Alleluia! the salvation, and the glory, and the honour, and the power, [is] to the Lord our God
    No
    Revelation 20:1
And I saw a messenger coming down out of the heaven, having the key of the abyss, and a great chain over his hand,
    Revelation 21:1
    And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth did pass away, and the sea is not any more;
    Revelation 4:1
    After these things I saw, and lo, a door opened in the heaven, and the first voice that I heard [is] as of a trumpet speaking with me, saying, ‘Come up hither, and I will shew thee what it behoveth to come to pass after these things;
    Revelation 7:1
    And after these things I saw four messengers, standing upon the four corners of the land, holding the four winds of the land, that the wind may not blow upon the land, nor upon the sea, nor upon any tree;
Babylon also goes down in chapter 14

    interesting, almost like:
    Matthew 21:43-45
Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you (unfaithful israel), and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit(body of christ); 44and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.’
45And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaketh, 46and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.

I disagree. Yes, they will be there for almost all of the last 42 months, but they do not remain as the city is burning. They have an appointment elsewhere.

Rev. 19:19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

    Revelation 16:16
And he gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon.

Sorry, but the three horses of chapter 6 are to represent church age things.
Have there not been famines and hunger many times in Africa over the past hundred years?

Where did the black plague hit two different times, each time killing about a third of the population? Of course Europe. Africa and Europe would be in that quarter of the earth mentioned.

iamlamad, when do the nations come up against Jerusalem in Zechariah 14 - before or after gathering themselves together at Armageddon? And why do you think the Mount of Megiddo is the glorious holy mountain? Daniel 11:45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.

I am saying that the nations assemble themselves their armies together at Armageddon and march down to Jerusalem, which would put the beast in Jerusalem, on Mt. Zion the temple mount.

Zechariah 14:2 For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle.

There are MANY GREAT CITIES, both Jerusalem and Babylon are called GREAT CITIES, and of course Babylon is used for the Kingdom of Satan. Its Metaphoric in nature.

Most Royals and Priesthoods wore those very colors, they were expensive thus exclusive. Trying to pin this on a certain peoples/nation/city can do nothing but create a situation where we have to PICK and CHOOSE via our own preferences on the subject, whereas ALL FALSE RELIGIONS is a much better description/fit.

This is just a vision in Revelation as per the END TIMES. Jerusalem was not killing the Saints during the Inquisition, False Religion was killing them. Islam is also False Religion, thus all Saints that it has killed would be a part of this also. When Kings of Jerusalem served FALSE GODS and a Prophet came unto him and said "thus saith the Lord" one of two things happened, they REPENTED like David or they killed the Prophet of God !! Thus FALSE RELIGION killed the Prophets. When Rome killed the Christians its because they would not serve their false gods, thus FALSE RELIGION killed the Saints and Prophets.

That is not a correct quotation per se. Jesus lands in Jerusalem, he fights at Armageddon, but the NATIONS THAT FALL are seen as Babylon the Great, NOT JERUSALEM.

Rev. 16:19 And the great city(Jerusalem) was divided into three parts(Jesus Lands on Mt Zion), and the cities of the nations fell: (The NATIONS that gather against Jesus are the 10 European Kings, the Beast, and the Kings of the East or Arab Nations, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Turkey etc. ALL ) and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

So God does not see Jerusalem as the Harlot or Babylon the Great, that is just a FALSE ASSUMPTION my Brother. You are missing the plain clues staring you in the face. God says the CITIES (Multiple) of the NATIONS (Multiple) FELL or FALL and thus we know who He sees as Babylon the Great by looking back at who it was that Gathered at Armageddon. This is not hard stuff to comprehend, its not difficult logistics.

The Beast or Anti-Christ/Little Horn comes out of the Fourth Beast (European Union) and his 10 Kings do also. So he will bring most of Europe with him to Armageddon. Then there is this:

Rev. 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.

13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

So lets add this up and lets figure out who God sees as Babylon the Great in verse 19, the CITIES of the NATIONS that FALL (Babylon is Fallen, is fallen). Notice a clue is given unto us, it says the way of the Kings of the East will be prepared and they seemingly are in the area of the Euphrates River basin.

    1. Europe and the Beast
    2. Kings of the East (NOT CHINA)
    3. Iran
    4. Iraq
    5. Turkey
    6. Syria
    7. Saudi Arabia
    8. Egypt
    9. Qatar
    10. Yemen
    11. Pakistan
    12. Afghanistan
So all of Europe, the Kings of the East AND...........then in verse 14 it says three lying spirits go out around the WHOLE WORLD to Gather them unto battle at Armageddon.

So its Europe, the Kings of the East or Arabs/Muslims and the rest of the WHOLE WORLD that comes to Armageddon to battle against Jesus/God. So BABYLON is the WHOLE WORLD !! Just like I have been telling you all here for over two years. ADD IT ALL UP !!

Against the nations that FALL !!

This is so illogical it kinda grates me that I have to actually keep repeating an argument against this trivial misconception. Its SEVEN KINGDOMS that God reduces to KING THAT HAVE FALLEN. It has absolutely nothing to do with Mountains since we know the Beast Kingdoms of Daniel are a part of the Seven Heads and that means its DIFFERENT KINGDOMS in DIFFERENT PLACES.

World Wide False Religion is FORNICATION AGAINST GOD !! Jerusalem was only WORSHIPING THOSE SAME FALSE GODS !! Read about the false gods they were worshiping. FALSE RELIGION !!

False Religion rides the back of False Governance. Nowhere does it say hes a Jew, just the opposite, hes a Gentile/Assyrian.

Do you see literal prophets returned in Revelation 11

Do you see literal plagues brought by the two witnesses?

I disagree with your interpretation and opinion, the scripture presented in the OP is without a doubt, a scripture has interpreted the fact?

Jerusalem Is Mystery Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots.

To say that Jerusalem (the original Israel) is not the whore is to ignore the entire chapter of Ezekiel 16.

Seriously. When an entire chapter is dedicated to explaining why she is the whore you'd have to literally favor your own ideas over scripture to say that she's not.

Considering we're all Bible believing Christians, this shouldn't even be a debate. It's akin to debating whether or not Nimrod built the tower of babble. We don't have to debate it. The Bible tells us it is so.

Pretty insightful post IMO, assuming you are correct about these things. Do you feel Jeremiah 50 and 51 can be of any help to us here? Or do you feel those two chapters are talking about events that have already been entirely fulfilled?

Douggg, I am not sure. I think this scripture is showing the attack by the ten kings that throw in with the Beast for one hour. Perhaps once they have set the city on fire, they head for the valley.

I think one thing is certain: When the battle of Armageddon actually takes place, in the valley of Megiddo, no one will mach away from the valley to Jerusalem. Dead people don't march.
