To you, bold soldier in Him, who is willing to exegete in seeking out His implied truths, through study of scripture.

    Jeremiah 30

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord. This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: “Write down on a scroll all the words that I have spoken to you,
Jeremiah 30:1-2 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:1-2 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

for the days are certainly coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel and Judah” —the Lord ’s declaration. “I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors and they will possess it.”
Jeremiah 30:3 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:3 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

for the days are certainly coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel and Judah” —the Lord ’s declaration. “I will restore them to the land I gave to their ancestors and they will possess it.”
Jeremiah 30:3 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:3 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Ask and see whether a male can give birth. Why then do I see every man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor and every face turned pale? How awful that day will be! There will be none like it! It will be a time of trouble for Jacob, but he will be delivered out of it.
Jeremiah 30:6-7 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:6-7 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

“On that day”—this is the declaration of the Lord of Hosts—“I will break his yoke from your neck and tear off your chains so strangers will never again enslave him. They will serve the Lord their God and I will raise up David their king for them.”
Jeremiah 30:8-9 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:8-9 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

As for you, My servant Jacob, do not be afraid— this is the Lord’s declaration— and do not be dismayed, Israel, for without fail I will save you from far away, your descendants, from the land of their captivity! Jacob will return and have calm and quiet with no one to frighten him.
Jeremiah 30:10 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:10 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

For I will be with you— this is the Lord’s declaration— to save you! I will bring destruction on all the nations where I have scattered you; however, I will not bring destruction on you. I will discipline you justly, and I will by no means leave you unpunished.
Jeremiah 30:11 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:11 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

For this is what the Lord says: Your injury is incurable; your wound most severe. No one takes up the case for your sores. There is no healing for you.
Jeremiah 30:12-13 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:12-13 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer look for you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins. Why do you cry out about your injury? Your pain has no cure! I have done these things to you because of your enormous guilt and your innumerable sins.
Jeremiah 30:14-15 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:14-15 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Nevertheless, all who devoured you will be devoured, and all your adversaries—all of them— will go off into exile. Those who plunder you will be plundered, and all who raid you will be raided. But I will bring you health and will heal you of your wounds— this is the Lord’s declaration— for they call you Outcast, Zion whom no one cares about.
Jeremiah 30:16-17 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:16-17 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

This is what the Lord says: I will certainly restore the fortunes of Jacob’s tents and show compassion on his dwellings. Every city will be rebuilt on its mound; every citadel will stand on its proper site. Thanksgiving will come out of them, a sound of celebration. I will multiply them, and they will not decrease; I will honor them, and they will not be insignificant.
Jeremiah 30:18-19 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:18-19 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

His children will be as in past days; his congregation will be established in My presence. I will punish all his oppressors. Jacob’s leader will be one of them; his ruler will issue from him. I will invite him to Me, and he will approach Me, for who would otherwise risk his life to approach Me? This is the Lord’s declaration. You will be My people, and I will be your God.
Jeremiah 30:20-22 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:20-22 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Look, a storm from the Lord! Wrath has gone out, a churning storm. It will whirl about the heads of the wicked. The Lord’s burning anger will not turn back until He has completely fulfilled the purposes of His heart. In time to come you will understand it.
Jeremiah 30:23-24 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 30:23-24 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

    Jeremiah 31

“At that time”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they will be My people.” This is what the Lord says: They found favor in the wilderness — the people who survived the sword. When Israel went to find rest, the Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore, I have continued to extend faithful love to you.
Jeremiah 31:1-3 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:1-3 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Again I will build you so that you will be rebuilt, Virgin Israel. You will take up your tambourines again and go out in joyful dancing. You will plant vineyards again on the mountains of Samaria; the planters will plant and will enjoy the fruit. For there will be a day when watchmen will call out in the hill country of Ephraim, “Get up, let’s go up to Zion, to Yahweh our God!”
Jeremiah 31:4-6 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:4-6 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

For this is what the Lord says: Sing with joy for Jacob; shout for the chief of the nations! Proclaim, praise, and say, “ Lord, save Your people, the remnant of Israel!”
Jeremiah 31:7 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:7 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Watch! I am going to bring them from the northern land. I will gather them from remote regions of the earth — the blind and the lame will be with them, along with those who are pregnant and those about to give birth. They will return here as a great assembly! They will come weeping, but I will bring them back with consolation. I will lead them to wadis filled with water by a smooth way where they will not stumble, for I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My firstborn.
Jeremiah 31:8-9 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:8-9 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Nations, hear the word of the Lord, and tell it among the far off coastlands! Say: The One who scattered Israel will gather him. He will watch over him as a shepherd guards his flock, for the Lord has ransomed Jacob and redeemed him from the power of one stronger than he.
Jeremiah 31:10-11 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:10-11 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

They will come and shout for joy on the heights of Zion; they will be radiant with joy because of the Lord’s goodness, because of the grain, the new wine, the fresh oil, and because of the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like an irrigated garden, and they will no longer grow weak from hunger. Then the young woman will rejoice with dancing, while young and old men rejoice together. I will turn their mourning into joy, give them consolation, and bring happiness out of grief. I will refresh the priests with an abundance, and My people will be satisfied with My goodness. This is the Lord’s declaration.
Jeremiah 31:12-14 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:12-14 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

This is what the Lord says: A voice was heard in Ramah, a lament with bitter weeping— Rachel weeping for her children, refusing to be comforted for her children because they are no more. This is what the Lord says: Keep your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for the reward for your work will come— this is the Lord’s declaration— and your children will return from the enemy’s land.
Jeremiah 31:15-16 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:15-16 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

There is hope for your future — this is the Lord’s declaration— and your children will return to their own territory. I have heard Ephraim moaning, “You disciplined me, and I have been disciplined like an untrained calf. Restore me, and I will return, for you, Lord, are my God.
Jeremiah 31:17-18 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:17-18 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

After I returned, I repented; After I was instructed, I struck my thigh in grief. I was ashamed and humiliated because I bore the disgrace of my youth.” Isn’t Ephraim a precious son to Me, a delightful child? Whenever I speak against him, I certainly still think about him. Therefore, My inner being yearns for him; I will truly have compassion on him. This is the Lord’s declaration.
Jeremiah 31:19-20 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:19-20 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

Set up road markers for yourself; establish signposts! Keep the highway in mind, the way you have traveled. Return, Virgin Israel! Return to these cities of yours. How long will you turn here and there, faithless daughter? For the Lord creates something new in the land — a female will shelter a man.
Jeremiah 31:21-22 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:21-22 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

This is what the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore their fortunes, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities, ‘May the Lord bless you, righteous settlement, holy mountain.’ Judah and all its cities will live in it together—also farmers and those who move with the flocks— for I satisfy the thirsty person and feed all those who are weak.”
Jeremiah 31:23-25 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:23-25 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

At this I awoke and looked around. My sleep had been most pleasant to me. “The days are coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and the seed of beast. Just as I watched over them to uproot and to tear them down, to demolish and to destroy, and to cause disaster, so will I be attentive to build and to plant them,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah 31:26-28 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:26-28 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

“In those days, it will never again be said: The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge. Rather, each will die for his own wrongdoing. Anyone who eats sour grapes—his own teeth will be set on edge.
Jeremiah 31:29-30 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:29-30 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

“Look, the days are coming”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. This one will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt—a covenant they broke even though I had married them” —the Lord’s declaration.
Jeremiah 31:31-32 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:31-32 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

“Instead, this is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after those days”—the Lord’s declaration. “I will put My teaching within them and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be My people. No longer will one teach his neighbor or his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least to the greatest of them”—this is the Lord ’s declaration. “For I will forgive their wrongdoing and never again remember their sin.”
Jeremiah 31:33-34 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:33-34 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

This is what the Lord says: The One who gives the sun for light by day, the fixed order of moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea and makes its waves roar — Yahweh of Hosts is His name: If this fixed order departs from My presence— this is the Lord’s declaration— then also Israel’s descendants will cease to be a nation before Me forever.
Jeremiah 31:35-36 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:35-36 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

This is what the Lord says: If the heavens above can be measured and the foundations of the earth below explored, I will reject all of Israel’s descendants because of all they have done— this is the Lord’s declaration. “Look, the days are coming”—the Lord’s declaration—“when the city from the Tower of Hananel to the Corner Gate will be rebuilt for the Lord . A measuring line will once again stretch out straight to the hill of Gareb and then turn toward Goah.
Jeremiah 31:37-39 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:37-39 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

The whole valley—the corpses, the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Kidron Valley to the corner of the Horse Gate to the east—will be holy to the Lord. It will never be uprooted or demolished again.”
Jeremiah 31:40 - Bible Gateway passage: Jeremiah 31:40 - Holman Christian Standard Bible

New Covenant of Jeremiah 31 Hebrew 8
    Jan 3, 2009

    Jeremiah 31:
    31
Behold! days, ones coming a declaration of Yahweh
and I Cut a New Covenant with the house of Yisra'el and with the house of [email protected]
32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they broke, although I was a husband to them, says Yahweh.
33 That this the Covenant which I shall Cut with House of Yisra'el after those days, declarations of Yahweh.
I give My Law within them and on their heart I shall write it,
and I become to them for an Elohim, and they shall become to Me for a people.

    Jeremiah 31 Orthodox Jewish Bible

31 (30) Hinei, the days come, saith Hashem, that I will cut a Brit Chadasha with Bais Yisroel, and with Bais Yehudah; 32 (31) Not according to the Brit that I cut with their Avot in the day that I took hold of their yad to take them out of Eretz Mitzrayim; which My Brit they broke, although I was Ba'al (Husband) to them, saith Hashem; 33 (32) But this shall be the Brit that I will cut with Bais Yisroel [T.N. the Book and the Brit called the Brit Chadasha is Jewish]; After those days, saith Hashem, I will set My in them inwardly, and I will write ketuvim on their hearts; and I will be their Elohim, and they shall be My People.

    Hebrews 8:

"For faulting to them He is saying 'behold! days are coming, is saying Lord,
and I shall be together finishing upon the House of Israel and upon the House of Judah a New Covenant,
9 Not according as the Covenant which I make to their fathers,
in day of taking of Me their hand, to be leading them out of land of Egypt,
that they not remain in My Covenant, and I, I un-care of them, is saying LORD.
10 That this the Covenant which I shall be Covenanting to the House of Israel after those days, is saying LORD.
Giving My laws into their minds and upon their hearts I shall be engraving them.
And I shall to them into a God, and they shall be to Me into a People.

    Hebrews 8 Orthodox Jewish Bible

8 For, when Hashem finds fault with them, he says, " HINEI YAMIM BA'IM, NE'UM HASHEM, VKHARATI ES BEIS YISRAEL V'ES BEIS YEHUDAH BRIT CHADASHA" (" Behold, days are coming, says Hashem, when I will establish with the Beis Yisroel and with the Beis Yehudah a Brit Chadasha" ).

9 Not like the Brit that I made with their forefathers on the day I took them by the hand to lead them out from the land of Egypt; because they broke my Brit, though I was a husband to them)

I then put each Hebrew verse together with the Greek verse to better compare the words and how and where they are used in other places of the OT and NT.

    Return, not rapture:

Jeremiah 30:23-24 See what a scorching wind has gone out from the Lord, a sweeping whirlwind, coming down onto the heads of the wicked. The Lords anger will not be turned aside, it will accomplish His purposes. In days to come, you will understand.
This is the Lords Day of vengeance and wrath, the next prophesied event.

Jeremiah 31:1-6 At that time, I shall be the God of all the families of Israel and they will be My people, a people that have escaped the sword and found favour in the wilderness. From afar God has appeared to Israel. He loves and cares for them and will build them up again. Once again, they will be happy and the Land will be fruitful. They will worship God in Jerusalem.
The great story of the redemption of God’s people, all faithful Christians who will live in the new nation of Beulah, Isaiah 62:1-5, in peace and prosperity. They will build the 3rd Temple and worship again, as in ancient days.

Jeremiah 31:7-9 The Lord says: be joyful for Jacobs sake, sing praises and say- God has saved His people, He has preserved a remnant of Israel. See how He brings them from all parts of the earth, among them the blind and the lame, women and children. A vast company, they come with weeping and prayer, God will comfort and escort them. He will lead them by streams of water, on smooth paths, for He is the Father to Israel and Ephraim is His eldest son.
Israel and Judah, scattered around the world. The remnant-“a vast company”. So, if the remnant could be several million, then it must be that the Israelites are now 100s of millions. NOT just the Jewish people.

Jeremiah 31:10-14 Listen to the Word of the Lord, you nations, make it known to people far away. He who scattered Israel, will gather them again and will watch over them as a shepherd watches over his flock. For God has redeemed Jacob and delivered them from their enemies. His righteous people will come with great joy into a Land of plenty and peace.
The Israelites enemies will be defeated, then they will be gathered and settled into Greater Israel, all that area promised to Abraham, so long ago. Ezekiel 47:13-23

Jeremiah 31:15-20 Rachel weeps for her children. [Rachel, the spiritual mother of Israel] Shed no more tears, for they will leave the nations and return to their own Land. God has disciplined Ephraim, like an unruly bull calf [Bull in Hebrew= aegel, became Angle, then Anglo-Saxon. Saxon= Isaac’s sons] After Ephraim strayed, he repented and now in shame and remorse, reproaches himself for the sins of his youth. God says: Ephraim is still My dear son, in whom I delight, I still remember him and have compassion for him.
Ephraim, was the leader of the 10 tribes, conquered in 722BC.

Jeremiah 31:21-22 Set up signs to mark your way, the path for your return. Come back virgin Israel to your towns. How long will you wander, My wayward child? The many ‘dolmens’ across Europe.
This will happen: a woman will protect a man.

Jeremiah 31:23-25 The Lord says: When I bring My people back from exile, they will live in all the Land and be satisfied. Once more will these words be heard in the Land; God bless you, the home of righteousness, the holy mountain.
The Holy mountain, the Temple mount. The 3rd Temple will be built and the ordinances reinstated.

Jeremiah 31:26-28 The days are coming, says the Lord, when I will plant Israel and Judah then increase their people and livestock. In the past My intent was to uproot and inflict disaster upon them, now I shall watch over them, to build and plant.
The sins of the forefathers are expiated by the Israelites long exile. Isaiah 27:7-9

Jeremiah 31:29-34 It will no longer be said that children will suffer for their parents sins. Only those who sin will be punished for it.
The days are coming when I shall establish a new covenant with Israel and Judah. It will not be like the one that I made with their forefathers, when I took them out of Egypt, that covenant they broke, though I was patient with them. This will be the new Covenant that I will make with the whole House of Israel, in the latter days; I shall set My Law within them, in their hearts, all of them will know and obey Me. I will forgive and forget their wrongdoing.

Jeremiah 31:35-37 The Lord says: As the sun and stars are set in their courses, as the wind and the sea roars- only if this fixed order changes, then, no more could Israel ever cease to be a nation before Me.

Jeremiah 31:39-40 The days are coming when Jerusalem will be rebuilt in My honour. It will be holy to Me, never again to be demolished.
    Ref: REB verses abridged.

This passage from the book of the prophet Jeremiah, tells the story of how the Lord will judge the unrighteous, then how His people, every faithful Christian, the Israelites of God, will go to live in the Land that He promised to their [spiritual] forefathers.

God will make a new covenant with them, in order for them to fulfil their destiny to be a light to the nations, and to spread to gospel of the coming Kingdom of God. Isaiah 66:19 – also described in Revelation 7 and 14 as the 144,000.

Many more prophesied events will take place, then, will come the culmination of this age – the Return of Jesus, to reign for 1000 years.

I needed to see this. As different views are getting shared, there’s something special about seeing how a sibling in Christ hears the Holy Spirit as they read scripture!

I Love this post and should never forget how wonderful it is to simply enjoy the love for Jesus and scripture that a sibling in Christ has.

    Thank you for this!

    Hi Grip Docility,

Can I get your exegesis on Jeremiah 31:35-36 and how it relates to the 70 weeks or sevens in Daniel 9?

Jeremiah 31:35-36 Thus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name: if those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

These verses seem to indicate not that the physical sun, moon and stars will have to cease first before Israel is to cease as a nation before God but only that the ordinances of the sun, moon, and stars would have to cease.

Genesis 1:14 And God said, Let there be light in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

If the 490 years or 70 sevens in Daniel 9:24 have a parenthetical gap or they are still yet to be completed in some way, then the ordinance of the sun, moon, and stars being used to determine days and years has indeed ceased. 2 Peter 3:8 seems to indicate that the Lord no longer views the actual sun rise to sun set as 1 day. Do you think the 70 sevens are already fulfilled? Or do you have some other interpretation on this?

I agree with your summary of 2 Peter 3:8.

As for the 70 sevens and Daniel... In a round about way, I am working towards answering that, but hadn’t desired to go to Daniel for it, as I am already slowly working on exegeting Several chapters, scattered throughout scripture for a purpose not unlike what you are kindly asking about.

I’ll edit in the links to those OP’s and I will add Jeremiah to the list, on your account.

All blessings in Jesus Christ to you!
