Paul was giving a nod to the laws of the state being needed to keep order. The new covenant church was not to be in the law enforcement business as was ancient Israel (the 'old' was 'passing away'). Session's statement reflected this.

What kind of parent would risk being separated from their children just to be in a different country? Matter of fact, what kind of parent would risk not only their own life, but their children's lives to be in a different country? But anyway, the gushy people on this seem to forget that the laws that are in place on this issue have been in place long before this sudden outcry of self-righteous "compassion", and that Democrats have not been cooperative in efforts to make changes to immigration.

They are not our neighbors they are other nations.

Were we supposed to invite in the Canaanites?

What? The Bible clearly states that all men are our neighbors, even our enemies.
Do you see Sessions error in invoking one Bible verse to support what is being done to families when other verses are contrary?

Even in the first century church they didn't blindly follow the law of the land. Christians died because they wouldn't bow done to Caesar. They wouldn't agree with the government that Caesar was a Deity.

There was enmity between the Samaritans and Jews of Jesus day. The Samaritans were mixed race and worshiped at a temple on Mt. Gerazim near Shechem. The Jews worshiped at a temple in Jerusalem. They both used the Torah, although the Pharisees put more emphasis on the prophets than the Sadducees or Samaritans.

A man was robbed, stripped of his clothes and left half dead along an 18 mile mountainous road from Jerusalem to Jericho. A priest did not want to help the victim. He did not recognize the man as a neighbor. A Levite who was supposed to be more Holy than other Jews did not want to help the man. A Samaritan who was not even Jewish put the man on his donkey and transported him to an inn where he payed for the man's room and board (Luke 10).

Jesus approved of the Samaritan more than the two Jews who thought they were holier than Samaritans, because the Samaritan did what God wanted.

To think we wouldn't be having this discussion if the Democrats would get on board with building a wall. I mean, it's difficult to imagine a parent tossing their child over a wall, but then again I wouldn't put it past some people.

Did you read my post at all. I don't think so.

I think you both have a point, but here comes the cavalry outcry of "separation of Church and State" and the misinterpretation thereof. What could Sessions seriously do about it in his position? Not a whole lot.

Sessions could stop invoking Bible scripture to support a heartless policy. People who don't know what the Bible says and why will just take away the idea that Christians are brainless followers of their government no matter what the government does.
He was all proud of himself thinking that he had said something so brilliant that Christians couldn't object to what the government does. Shame on him.

Shame on the Democrats for fighting Trump on the boarder wall. Freedom of speech allows Sessions to quote all the Scriptures he wants, and he could take the compassionate approach, but would it amount to a hill of beans in preventing what has been a problem to immigration for God only knows how long? Where was the the outcry years ago and what was done about it?

All Christians should know that story very well by now. I don't see where it has anything to do with our illegal immigrant situation.

Doesn't quoting Romans 13 (Paul speaking to Christians under imperial Rome) to would-be immigrants, therefore equate the immigrants with the early 1st century AD Christian faithful, and equate the US to the pagan Roman empire, whose laws should be brooked wherever possible ?

Wouldn't that be admitting, to a half billion Latin Americans, that the US "federales" really are a bunch of [pagan] "Imperialistas" ? And that the would-be immigrants are actually God's chosen righteous ?

If managing border crossings is in fact the right thing to do, then maybe one could cite other Scriptures in support of the same ?

There is and never was a "law" that dictates the separation of parents from their children. You listen to too much of Trumps crapola
