If you are interested in JavaScript as well or instead of Java, I would recommend https://www.codeschool.com/paths/javascript. I learned RSpec from their site and it was great.

The textbook I used was called Java Foundations: Introduction to program design and data structures. It's a really good book for someone who is interested in computer science. However, it might assume the reader is already familiar with structured programming.
