It's amazing how the most horrible thing can happen like an innocent person raped or killed, etc. something horrible, and yet Christians continue to say "God is in control".

I am going to just say it how it is. The society we are living in right now is a terrible place filled with evil, I see no sign of this being from God. It's frustrating to just hear after that "God is in control", as if we are told to just read, believe, and accept without questioning or examining anything else. If God is in control, then he is not going to redeem until one time all at once - but what's the point of this? Will this undo the instances of injustice in the physical world? So God is working in society right now, he just seems dormant apparently because I see no even slightly obvious or detectable sign. So what is the point?

I am emotionally worn out and feel misunderstood.

AN ENEMY HAS DONE THIS !!!!

We are in the middle of a spiritual/cosmic war ... and it's not over yet. We are on a battleground .... until He returns.

You can understand war can't you? Yeah, innocent people are caught up in it as well.

He helps through this awful world, He knows the struggles ... all of them ... and BTW He told us it would be very difficult.

Thank God we know how it ends and that it WILL end.

God's plan has not been fully executed yet (more yet to be saved) ... the point is to remain faithful until He returns and ends this mess/war for eternity .... AMEN!!!!

Even so ..........COME LORD JESUS!!! AMEN!!!

It took me many years to arrive at the conclusion God is in fact NOT in control of everything. At least not in the absolute-complete way many people think. I put it all in a book "The 'God is in Control of Everything' Myth."
God is sovereign and can do whatever He wants... but that does not mean He is writing all the screenplay and pulling all the strings. A mere observation of the world around us proves conclusively that a loving benevolent God is in fact not in control of everything.
Essentially the world is a free running creation of the possible that operate according to a "course of nature" where anything can happen is the default setting. Fate and circumstance occur to everyone. As I said, God can intervene anytime He wants. But it is more than evident from the world around us that He does not, and in fact these interventions are few and far between.
There is a mountain of scriptural evidence that proves these concepts are true.
Most importantly this will change your prayer life. Once you see that the world around you is in a fallen/falling condition, you we see that you must be proactive in your prayers rather than reactive. Don't wait for your life to fall apart around you and then pray. That is like waiting for the dam to break and then rushing for high ground. Be in constant prayer against the fallen world around you.
If you do not go into a war stance against the devil, he is going to devour you, your family, your home, your community, your church, your life.
The book mentioned is over 350 pages of scriptural and logical proof of these things. Too much to include in this thread.

Innocent people aren't raped or killed by people who God is in control of.
    They are protected by them.
So, I agree with your statement.
People, I feel, are not quite what people think they are.
    People are like doors.
I heard someone say once "there's so much evil in the world, that I can't believe in God"
But isn't this precisely when we need more God
    And not less?

"Behold, I stand at the door and knock"

Luke 17:20-21 was particularly eye opening for me

20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:
21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.

Now, go look at the Lord's Prayer again...

Our Father, who art in Heaven
    Hallowed by thy name
    Thy Kingdom Come...

...What's going to happen when that Kingdom comes within you,
    Who art on Earth?

    Thy Will Be Done
On Earth as it is in Heaven

At least the evil people can still revel in themselves, at least temporarily.

I mean, I have heard about God intervening on an individual person before, but nothing like changing an entire group. I never seen any evil on the mass scale struck down before it was too late. And if God can only help those who believe and have faith in him, well, then God is selective or sin/evil acts as a kryptonite to him.

God gave us all free will.

It is up to us to follow the narrow path.

We choose heaven or hell by the way we live.

Consider that salvation is an intervention against the universal curse of death.
Consider that healing is an intervention against the universal curse of sickness.
Consider that deliverance is an intervention against the universal curse of poverty.
God created the universe in this way for a purpose. He created it as a free-running "machine" that runs according to a "course of nature."
Of course, God has intervened in our lives more times than we could possibly know. I know of half a dozen times God has saved me from death. That is just the ones I know about. I am sure there are more that I never knew about. I think everyone has had similar occurrences!
    For instance, you said:
"I never seen any evil on the mass scale struck down before it was too late."
How would you know? Since it did not happen, how could you not see it come to pass?

You are approaching this completely backwards and attaching your cynicism to God.

Imagine the whole world misunderstanding you. There would be some consolation in knowing that one day you would make it unmistakably clear to all.

I don't know much what to say... except God is still powerful to do, and he is good, there is no darkness in him, if you knew a bit of how is the Holy spirit, you would like God too.

It seems God created a world that after people disobeyed him, he does not stop rapist and murderers from commiting evil, well, first, its people fault if they commit an atrocity not Gods, if more people listened to what God says it would be less things like these happening.
Humans are held highly responsible for the world they were given and given autonomy to do.

Many of us have suffered abuse or seen family members murdered. The idea that God is in control is very comforting. It doesn't mean that bad things won't happen but it helps us to redeem the bad and to forgive those who sin against us.

You are not alone, I think everyone struggles with the brutal reality of the real world. That's why escapism, fiction, avoidance of reality, are so powerfully innate in our nature.

Not everyone should be thought of as an innocent person. I have known a lot of people during my life and I would not call anyone of them innocent. And especially not myself. Not only have they exerted considerable selfishness towards others in need. They are usually gluttons, lazy, judgmental, drunkards, opinionated, greedy, e.t.c. For some unknown reason, we look at ourselves in the mirror and see someone, who has never done anything wrong.

We have all rejected God and we all suffer the consequences of that rebellion. Whether you can accept this truth or not, it is the truth.

People are truly evil but few can accept this.

What if God doesn't want to strike people down? We know that God loves everyone, especially sinners. Apart of being conformed to his image is learning to love and pray for those who have made themselves our enemies. Afterall, no one was more abused to the point of murder than God made flesh in Jesus Christ. He is intimately connected to everyone who suffers.
I know for my part, I hope and pray for my suffering to mean something at the end of the day, I long for a final Judgement that will inform those who hurt me as I too wish to be enlightened. I do not want condemnation but repentance, embrace, and the love of sinners that I never received in this life.

Exactly. Everything is passing away. One day, we will all be on the other side of the Resurrection with Christ. He will wipe our tears away, there will be no sorrow or pain.

This is only an appearance and most of the time, not a very good one. All sinners are miserable.
