They also have a nice-sounding way of twisting the facts and figures to make it sound as if it's a good thing. Safe and effective? Pfffft! ^_^

So much for the "herd immunity" idea being so effective either.....

Who is testing positive for COVID-19 in Israel?

Unlike in many other countries, most of the people testing positive in Israel are vaccinated, reported The Washington Post.

    • But this should not be surprising, according to epidemiologist Katelyn Jetelina, per The Washington Post.
    • “The more vaccinated a population, the more we’ll hear of the vaccinated getting infected,” she said.
And Israel has one of the most vaccinated populations in the world. About 60% of the nation’s entire population of 9.3 million has received at least one vaccine dose, reported Reuters. Among adults, about 85% have been vaccinated which means that Israel’s vaccinated community is five times larger than its unvaccinated community.

“Countries with high vaccination will see mostly vaccinated people getting ill from COVID,” wrote Arieh Kovler, a political analyst, on Hat Tip.

Here's the rate for vaccinated and unvaccinated for those over 60 in Israel (from https://twitter.com/EricTopol/status/1425089101926080514):

Sure looks like it's better to be vaccinated than not. And that's leaving aside the greater degree of protection against severe disease.

So what was the argument, exactly?

I nearly spurt my iced tea when I read this statement:

“The more vaccinated a population, the more we’ll hear of the vaccinated getting infected,” she said.

It's like, the more we clothe people, the more we'll see clothed people... without clothes. (But, clothing them is effective, except when... it's not).

    It does seem logical.

    Nothing odd about it.

If 100% of a population is vaccinated, 100% of cases would be with vaccinated people.

Nope, nothing about Bill Gates, microchips, and the illuminati. Perhaps you're thinking of a different thread?

Yep, much like if everyone wore their seatbelts, 100% of car accident fatalities would be from people wearing seatbelts... however, the number of fatalities in car accidents would be much lower, as seatbelts have been proven to reduce the risk of dying in a car accident...much like covid vaccines have been proven to reduce the risk of dying from covid should one be exposed to it.

Great. What is the argument, though? Israeli data demonstrates that vaccination reduces the rate at which people contract covid-19, even with the delta variant, and greatly reduces the rate at which they get seriously ill and die. Therefore vaccination is bad?

Sure... but then, there's no risk that putting on your seat belt will harm you either.

I think the OP point is the ineffectivity of the vaccines. As in, the unvaccinated should be MUCH more susceptible to covid. If your chance of getting covid is 1 in 10, and your chance of dying from covid if you have it is 1 in 1000, then your chance of dying from covid is 1 in 10,000. The real numbers are all over the place so this is a ballpark. But still, is it worth the risk of a 1 in 25,000 chance of death from the vaccine? Which is only 39% effective? Is it worth the 1 in 50 or whatever risk of permanent side effects from the vaccine for a slightly lower risk of dying from a virus that probably won't hurt you more than the flu?

85% vaccinated means herd immunity has supposedly been achieved.

Or a basic failure of a "safe and effective" vaccine to do its job.

Most doctors say it is worth the risk of the vaccines.
