Marbles, I think you and Interpreter may have a lively conversation -- and remember what I said, that I have almost never agreed with him.
As for what you've said,
1. I acknowledge that there will come a time when there are three entities on the earth: the Dragon (who is explicitly called Satan), the beast, and the false prophet.
2. I have tried time and again, to figure out who the False Prophet is; but I come up empty every time. He will obviously be someone with political/economic power (The boundary line between the two is getting blurred nowadays), and will have a religious or quasi-religious aspect to him. He? She? It? He compels people to worship the image of the beast. What's the image? Television? Who's the idol? Oprah Winfrey? I just can't piece it together; and I don't think God wants me to -- not just now. When the time comes, I think those who trust in God will know who this guy is.
3. The beast: It seems a composite of beasts from Daniel, which represented world powers (Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome). Seven heads would seem to be Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Persia, Greece, Rome and New Rome (Holy Roman Empire). Ten horns would seem to be the European powers that succeeded the HRE, and essentially ruled the world from about 1750 to 1950. Their tenure was succeeded by the Cold War and then, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, by the USA. Because of this, I count America as the "little horn" that grew up during those 200 years, from a British colony to a superpower. Because the little horn is described as having a mouth and boasting great things, I take it to be a person -- most likely an American President (not Obama, in my book)
4. Babylon, Mother of Harlots. Allegorically she's Rome; but since the prophecy places her destruction as during the time of the ten horns (1750-1950 or later), I don't think she represents the literal city of Rome. She is a great commercial center, a place of luxury and a place of tremendous consumer spending. She cannot be the Little Horn; because the ten horns give their power and authority to the little horn, whereas those same ten horns strip Babylon naked. Her commercial prowess makes me again think of America; and the "smoke of her burning" makes me think of the Twin Towers; but America has not been and will not be "stripped naked" by the nations of Europe. I think Babylon is a metaphor for the Catholic Church, which was largely stripped of its political power, its property and its prestige by the increasingly secular Western leaders.
As I say, I don't know who the False Prophet is. Perhaps he is the same as the Antichrist. I think he's in the near future, and is at present a mystery. I believe the FIRST battle of Armageddon (not the final one, which takes place AFTER the Millenium, 1000 years after the beast and false prophet have passed from history into the lake of fire) is the battle described in Zechariah 14. It is described as being fought by ALL THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD (Literally, the "United Nations") against Israel, and led by the Beast (the United States). As I said, it will be in the near future, perhaps ten or 20 years. I don't count the current conflicts as being part of that battle.
The First Battle of Armageddon will end in a nuclear exchange, as described in Zechariah 14 -- "World War III", in other words.
Shalom shalom
