When someone goes to heaven after death do they have freewill in Heaven? If so if the choose to disobey in Heaven are they kicked out? If so where do they go and what must they do to return to heaven?

We teamed up with Faith Counseling. Can they help you today?

    Hi, Chaplain drstevej :)

You put this in the LDS section, for debating "Other Religions & Faiths". In case you mean to have a debate in relation to Latter-Day Saints beliefs, would you please share what are these beliefs which you might want to get attention?

LDS affirm the doctrine of free will. I am seeking to clarify their beliefs and the implications. I say we have no free will when we go to Heaven. This is a debate of LDS afterlife views.

People *will* still have a degree of free will, even in the afterlife.

People still have the right to, even in front of Heavenly Father, reject him.

That's how devoted Heavenly Father is to giving us the right to choose.

When they reject Him what are the consequences?

Same thing as what happens when they reject him on Earth.

I know this is about LDS believes---but why do you think there is no free will in heaven? Perfect love requires the freedom to choose. Or is that another thread?

    Great question!

    Mormonism:
I was told there is freewill, but those who were so obedient to earn godhood won't sin. ???

    • “The prophet Nephi describes the Final Judgment in terms of what we have become: ‘And if their works have been filthiness they must needs be filthy; and if they be filthy it must needs be that they cannot dwell in the kingdom of God’ (1 Nephi 15:33; italics added). Moroni declares, ‘He that is filthy shall be filthy still; and he that is righteous shall be righteous still’ (Mormon 9:14; italics added; see also Revelation 22:11–12; 2 Nephi 9:16; Alma 41:13; D&C 88:35). The same would be true of ‘selfish’ or ‘disobedient’ or any other personal attribute inconsistent with the requirements of God. Referring to the ‘state’ of the wicked in the Final Judgment, Alma explains that if we are condemned by our words, our works, and our thoughts, ‘we shall not be found spotless; … and in this awful state we shall not dare to look up to our God’ (Alma 12:14)” (in Conference Report, Oct. 2000, 41; or Ensign, Nov. 2000, 32).

    Book of Mormon, Mormon 9
14 And then cometh the judgment of the Holy One upon them; and then cometh the time that he that is filthy shall be filthy still; and he that is righteous shall be righteous still; he that is happy shall be happy still; and he that is unhappy shall be unhappy still.

Generally speaking, whatever kind of personality we have here on Earth is what goes with us to the afterlife.

As such, there are people who can and will reject and refuse even at that very moment.

I believe that when a person becomes perfect in one they will have no desire to sin:
    (New Testament | John 17:21 - 23)

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

In Mormonism, perhaps a person's personality was what it will be afterwards before coming to earth.
