There seems to be a lot of controversy on this topic. If you look it up, there are 600 sins in the bible.

There are so many! So many that I bet you can find 5 or more things that you presently do.

Do you think God knows sin is inevitable and the reason he created the rules is so that when we fall short, we keep going back to him?

Is it part of our human development to experience these sin and to continually work on them?

Senario: If someone is in a sexual relationship without being married, they decide stop the sexual relations. Then they fall into touching yourself. Then they are consistantly haunted by this sin because they know no matter what, sin will always be there. They run themselves in circles based on religious laws. What does one do? Accept that sin is inevitable and go on living? Or do they continue to become depressed that they are just not good enough?

It is written that the righteous man falls seven times a cay. We are not talking about mortal sins. And as we grow ever closer to God we can see our sins more in a way (dark night of the soul). That is to say things we did not even consider become considered. And it is not a matter of not being good enough. God selected us even before our birth and we are His 'pearl of great price' the price paid with his suffering and blood so we are precious.

Yes, they are inevitable, but that doesn't mean we give up.

The laws of God are to guide us to becoming more and more like Him. That is the best, positive way to look at them. And it is true that the more holiness you take on the more depravity you see and you abhor what you may do in disappointing Him. The promise ,however, is that HIS grace is sufficient for OUR righteousness is a filthy rags.

The answer is yes, sin is inevitable. That's why we need Christ. Because we can never fully stop sinning.
And even if we did COULD stop sinning (which we can't), and become perfect in our ways (which we can't), we'd still go to hell unless we trusted in Christ as our savior.

Why? Because we are perpetually cursed with sin from birth.

As a mere mortal with a sinful nature, sin is inevitable.

But if one, through Christ's Spirit is effectually "crucified with Him", and "raised up in newness of life", then righteous living becomes the "new inevitability".

This is what the faith of Christ says to my soul.

Most everyone else tries to tell me, sin's going to happen no matter what. I've never cared for that attitude, even though it may seem to be somewhat true.

On the other hand, it also appears that one can put too much emphasis on how well they "perform", and thereby embrace a wrong spirit regarding the "Gift of Salvation".

It's good to believe in God's Ability to "make us perfect, even a He Is Perfect". Anything which denies that, must be from a contrary source...but there's also the potential for "believing it in the wrong way". Like in a way where one would become hypercritical and unmerciful as a result.

So to try and confuse us, Satan offers up a distorted form of believing on one hand, while showing credible reasons why such a "belief", is unsound on the other...while the true way of belief remains obscure, except to those who seek and find it directly from their Heavenly Father, and the "Rock" which can't be prevailed upon lives on...

It is written that the righteous man falls seven times a day.

Well, not exactly...but through combining a number of different verses, in a particular way, one could imply something like that.

For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief. <-----> Proverbs 24:7

Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus said unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
<-----> Matthew 18:21+22

It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.
<-----> Lamentations 3:22+23

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: <-----> Ephesians 4:26

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. <-----> Psalm 4:4

Dear leavingeden. We live in an imperfect world, where temptations surround us day and night. I would not go as far as thinking that sin is inevitable, but I do agree that sinning has become our second nature, and that is inevitable. Jesus gave us loving advice in Matthew, chapter 22, verses 35-40. " The first and great Commandment is: Love God with all our hearts, with all our souls, and with all our minds. The second is: Love our neighbour as ourselves." Then Jesus states this very important fact: "On these two Commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." God wants our love, freely given and NO conditions made. God is Love, and God wants loving children/sons and daughters.
That is straightforward, and easy to remember. How do we achieve that?To start, we treat all we know and all we meet, as we would love to be treated: with kindness, friendly words, and helping hands. (if needed) Jesus has promised us His Love and Joy, and the Holy Spirit will give us His Love, also. Jesus told us: " Ask and ye will receive," then we thank God, and share all Love and Joy with all around us. God will see our sincere efforts, and God will bless us. People around us will notice the love and care for each other, and they will try to do the same. Love is very catching and many might want to join us. God will also know that we love Him, Why? Because we are following His Commandments to love and care.
God loves us all, and God made us in His image, and we are quite able to love, if we once start. Life will become joyful, and we will slowly change into the men and women, which God wants us to be.
We might stumble and even fail at times, but we get up, ask God`s forgiveness and carry on, showing the world at large, whom we love and follow. God will forgive us as we will forgive others. Is sin inevitable?? Not if we remember that Love is our weapon and will help us to overcome all enmity and adversity. Everything we say, or do, or advocate, should be done in love and charity. I say this with love, leavingeden. Greetings from Emmy, sister in Christ.

The closer we come to God in Christ, the brighter the light of God's Holiness
becomes and the more we will see our own imperfection compared to God's Holiness and perfection.

As we continue to seek God in our surrender to His will, the more God will
cause our sins to lose power over our lives as we allow God to become
the focus of our lives as our Friend, Father and the lover of our souls.

In Christ we have a right standing with God and so we have access
to Him as a child has access to their father so sin does not come between
us and God because of Christ's righteousness given to all that believe
in Him for their salvation and for their right standing before God.

So what is left if we have right standing before God?

A relationship with our Father in Heaven based on our obedience.

Just as Christ was obedient to His Father, we too are to enter
into a relationship in which we who are already SONS AND DAUGHTERS
of God in Christ begin from that point of adoption, seek to
please our Father by listening to His loving and wise counsel and
bringing our lived in submission to His good and perfect will for our lives.

All who are in Christ belong to the Father as His sons and daughters
but not all are at the same place in their developement as His children.

God knows how to bless us and to cause us to become more like
Jesus Christ when we trust Him and allow Him to do in us
what we cannot do in our own strength and power.

Sin has been dealt with in Christ who has died for all our sins to bring us into
adoption into God's family as His children so that what is left is the relationship.

We are invited to partake of a deep and loving relationship with our heavenly Father.

How that relationship is worked out in our daily lives is determined by our willingness
to surrender our lives to the God who has given us His life in Jesus Christ.
