In fact, it was divided for 6 years. And of course, Obama was often criticized by liberals for example, for deporting a record number of illegal aliens.

North Korea is a long way from here. But you might also find that to be the rule in Venezuela. And there's always Russia. Just a suggestion.
I meant, "suck it up and live through political nonsense" just like everyone else had to do in previous administrations. You aren't special today, simply because someone whose policies you dislike is in the White House. Happens to all of us.

You don't remember all the howling and whining and outrage? C'mon. We knew the first black president was going to unhinge some people. But the great majority of the republican party went bonkers. They didn't sit down and shut up, they screamed their heads off.

If you want "sit down and shut up", there are places you can go for that. I mentioned some of them for you. Don't let the door hit you. You're acting like you're angrier about winning than the democrats are about losing.

Advising that adversaries simply need to tolerate the current administration, just as everyone needed to tolerate the last administration, and will undoubtedly be tolerating some future administration is not cursing said adversaries in any way. Speaking ill of them, calling them names - that would be cursing them.

If you are instead giving yourself that reminder, than do so, but no need to advertise it.

Your memory is faulty if you believe "the great majority of the republican party went bonkers", and doubly so if you think anyone objected to President Obama's melanin production. He had some bad policies and passed some bad law. That's all that anyone cared about (excluding fringe crazies on either side - they are always there in any administration).

This is silly. Demographics suggest a slow movement of the population to Democrats. By the time Democrats have the necessary political support to do this, it won't be necessary. I certainly hope we don't see Republican gerrymandering replaced by Democratic gerrymandering. I think there's reason to believe that at the point we get liberal control of the Supreme Court, the Court will be willing to deal with issues like gerrymandering and vote suppression, and fix the problem on a party-independent basis.

The one suggestion that I do support is direct election of the President.

I agree. It's not worth it.

Apparently, "sit down and shut up" is offensive. And it should be.

Your memory is faulty if you believe "the great majority of the republican party went bonkers"

I notice that Mitch McConnell went from "our job is to do the best we can for America", to "our job is to see that President Obama fails." That's bonkers. Or worse. A majority of republicans think Obama might not be an American citizen. Bonkers is the gentle word for that.
Poll: Majority of Republicans still doubt Obama's citizenship

They just couldn't deal with it and went off the deep end.

and doubly so if you think anyone objected to President Obama's melanin production

Well, let's take a look...

A Republican candidate here in Kentucky won a legislative seat, even though he had posted images of the Obama family as a band of monkeys, but he says he is not a racist.

Yes, you are.

A public official in West Virginia said she will be glad to have a dignified white first lady, instead of seeing an ape in high heels. But she says she is not a racist.

Yes, you are.

In Sheridan, Ind., people made a parade float of President Obama in a toilet, but said they are not racists.

Yes, you are.

A mayor in Pennsylvania ran a picture of Michele Obama on a wagon of orangutans under the caption ‘Move-in day at the White House’, but denied being a racist.

Yes, you are.

The people who insist that President Obama is not a native-born American deny they are racists.

Yes, you are.

A candidate in Tennessee posted a billboard with the caption “MAKE AMERICA WHITE AGAIN,” but he denied that he is a racist.

Yes, you are.

A mayor in Washington State ran an image of Michelle Obama as a gorilla, saying she could be attractive only to another monkey like her husband. Of course, he says he is not a racist.

Yes, you are.

When a gorilla escaped from a zoo in South Carolina, a GOP politician in South Carolina posted a Facebook page telling people to be on the lookout for Michelle Obama’s ancestor, but he says he is not racist.

\They said despicable things about the Obamas but say they’re not racists. Yes, they are

There's more. Do you want to see more?

No point in denying the facts. There were decent republicans, like McCain who described Obama as a good American with whom he had some fundamental differences. But they are definitely in the minority in the republican party right now.

I feel as if Republicans have been tilting the balance in their favor for years. The gerrymandering after the 2010 census was horrible. There are so many districts that the courts deemed "illegal," but that only helps if the courts aren't stacked...and we know how that's been going.

The Citizens United decision puts profits above people.

Net neutrality elimination will make it easier for the wealthy to buy elections.

Voter suppression laws work against the poor, young people, Native Americans, people of color.

Two of our last three presidents lost the popular vote. Bush was appointed by a 5-4 Supreme Court decision.

While I honestly feel that a political party that can only keep its power by monkeying around with district boundaries, preventing likely Democrats from voting, and being anti-immigrant desperately needs to earn votes honestly---by having good candidates with good ideas--Republicans don't seem interested in doing things that way.

Democrats need to try to level the playing field.

I thought that horse left the barn years ago.

They actually believe that Trump started it. In their minds, there is no such thing as fighting dirty when the cause they are fighting for is righteous. In Trump they have finally met an opponent who will not fight by Queensbury rules after all the shots to the groin they've delivered in the past...

They sure don't lose graciously, do they?

Pitiful

And due to their tactics losing more of the mainstream each and every day.

Some people just don't like all of the hate.

Yes, the polls seem to indicate that. Even with Gerrymandering and voter suppression schemes, the republicans seem likely to lose the House this time around. And even though far more democrat Senate seats are up for election than are republican Senate seats, there's an outside chance that the Senate will go democrat as well.

The mainstream is just about fed up. And here's an even better indicator:
When it came to his time in the office, however, a majority of respondents in both polls had mostly negative opinions.

The McClatchy-Marist poll asked participants whether Trump's conduct as president made them feel proud or embarrassed and, while there was a significant partisan split, 58 percent of all those surveyed said they felt embarrassed
POLLS: Majority of Americans embarrassed by President Trump, say he is not level-headed

Being the first American president to be laughed at, addressing the United Nations probably didn't help any.

Sigh. I voted for cooler heads prevailing!

America is always best and at its healthiest with two decent parties. Two ways of looking at things, and less dangerous drama.

Everyone needs to cool their jets.

While I agree that they do need to....

There’s a reason they won’t.

Too many people now seek their meaning through politics.

They are worshipping government. This isn’t a new thing - it was instituted in ancient Babylon.... And to the political parties - this is a dream come true because those people are “true believers” in government and in the political party.

It is time for Christians to be involved inside political parties. It’s critical that we reach out to these the people who are empty and crying out for meaning to find that meaning in Jesus and worship the one true God.

It is time for Christians to be involved inside political parties.

That's what the right-wing evangelicals were preaching. And now they're worshiping a man who has wiped his feet on everything a Christian holds dear. No. God neither wants nor needs political power.
