• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I used to be overcome with anxiety... But when I started to focus more on the Lord and less on the world it really helped! I understand that medication can work for some people, but they certainly never worked for me. Only until I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour and started focusing more on Him than the world, did I finally find myself to be free of anxiety (As well as depression, and psychosis). Now I'm not saying you need to reject the idea of meds entirely. But I do believe it is best to pray on these things and worry less about what people have to say about issues like this. God should be leading your life not this world. Why worry and be anxious about ANYTHING, when everything is in the hands of the Lord? Once you accept that He is truly in control and will protect you, perhaps then you will have no need for medication... Or perhaps you will! It is all for the Lord to decide. Though I must stress, the scriptures always push us to rely on Him for our every need. I hope none of us forget that, since God really does love us and wants for us to lean on Him in all our struggles :(

Here is some scripture concerning issues like this, hopefully it will help you!

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Anyways... I hope that your anxiety leaves you soon! May Jesus Christ wash it away from you, and may God through His divine love help you to overcome it - in whatever way He deems fit!

Very good post; yes, we need to keep 'looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith, Who for the joy that was set before Him endured the Cross' (Hebrews 12.2); otherwise, it's easy to become introspective, right?

Anxieties can be caused by things such as genetic, hereditary or environmental issues, but I believe that you may be able to be cured if you are anxious about something or are having excessive worries. Green tea, meditation and cognitive therapy are the best solution if you're diagnosed with something like GAD or OCD. If you have an actual illness and not just anxious thoughts, then medication is the best but. although, one time I prayed when I was very anxious and going through a tough time, and a few days later I no longer worried. this might just be a placebo effect, but I believe that it really worked. just keep your faith in God.

Glad to have helped you, sister... My prayers are with you! Whenever we struggle, or are battling through storms, let's take it to God in prayer and simply trust in Him. He certainly know what He's doing!! x
