Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Is it a good or bad idea for me to prep to be able to get theologically minded friend and/or spouse?

I have Bible Study softwares that I've paid for, several of them. I have two actual large main accounts that I use myself. Then I have one of some size that I could give away, plus one that might be best shared. Additionally I have two with few books.
The question pertains mainly to the one of some size that I could give away and one of the accounts that has few books. Is it a good or bad idea to prep with these accounts, in order to be able to give them to a friend and/or to a spouse, to entice them and inspire them to become theologically research-minded?

I know from experience that it's not that difficult to make someone interested, especially if they have some Biblical original language skills.

The thing is that all this costs me some money. EDIT: TODAY Friday I would be looking at spending another approx $438 to complement the account I can give away, with an added bonus of a few books to the account that would be best shared. That $438 would include among other things a good Greek-English lexicon. EDIT: Haven't finalized the price yet, if the seller and me don't agree it's no deal, I'm not willing to pay more than that, what complicated things was that I said after I had already placed a bid without, that I wanted the Boice-set as well. You can see a recent discussion here on CF about this: what are the best academic biblical commentaries and why? biases, credentials, etc.,

You who are preppers, even if You don't use actual real Bible Study software yourself, what do You think of the idea that I really want to meet a friend and/or future spouse (and preferably have these accounts fully ready) and be able to give the accounts?

A note: It does take maximally 1-2 Weeks almost full-time work for someone to start from scratch, buying all the stuff, it's that complicated to know what to buy. By that I mean a cold-start when You are unfamiliar with basically all titles, since before. True, there are some discounted packages sold, but there are several such differing options that it's not necessarily a time-saver to buy one of those, nor do I necessarily recommend such packages that are curated by and heavily promoted by the Bible Study software companies, one of the reasons being they usually contain lots and lots of fluff.

After this $438 I wouldn't be spending more. It's used digital books btw. No, they are not e-books. E-books have no tagging. These have tagging so that they have functioning links between books, many search possibilities, and it's also possible to either manually or half-automatically organize them.

Either way I'm trying to get in touch with Christians.

No, I'm not going to let several people share either one of the two accounts I would give away, that's neither allowed nor feasible.

It may sound obvious to You to say: No, don't do it. But after all the experience I've gathered during several Years, the process of hand-curating libraries flows fairly smoothly now, when I do it, and I can't think of some other more relevant gift.

I've thought several times about what titles are the necessary ones. I've also been looking for deals for a while, especially used items.

Those books would belong to the digital library not yourself and you are only renting it. As a librarian I can advise that the person borrowing books is responsible for any fees incurrred. You can't gift your membership to someone else.

Everyone needs their own membership, that's how we keep track of titles/books.

If you want to give someone $438 worth of books thats up to you, as a gift. But borrowing from a digital library thats not a gift, you need to pay and return those eventually (or lease them for a specific period of time).

The whole spouse thing is confusing. Everyone has to login with their OWN name. If they want to share the account, sure but the person who's name it is in will need to take responisbility for the borrowing period of those titles.

Make sense? And this has nothing whatsoever to do with prepping that I can see.

Well the main spare account is basically a made up email and name, it doesn't belong to anyone and I've checked - I'm allowed to have multiple accounts that I've paid myself - at least the Logos account is clear as I've made clear to them that the account is used by no-one. The two other brands are not necessarily 100% OK to do it this way, that's why I'm checking with the companies now in the last minute. Pretty much each company is different.
It's prepping in the sense that I've spent years doing this solely to win friends and a spouse, it has been prepping for that.
I'm making up my mind very soon.
But I'm grateful You told me the precautions! Everything You say is true.
I've just been careful not to touch the books.

Do you go to a Christian Church????
You would find that one on one personal contact is more beneficial than anything online.

Non of what you are talking about above has anything to do with prepping, or preparing for what is to come.
    Luke 12:22-34New International Version (NIV)
    Do Not Worry
22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. 24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your lifea]">[a]? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

27 “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 28 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today, and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, how much more will he clothe you—you of little faith! 29 And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. 30 For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well.

32 “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom. 33 Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will never fail, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. 34 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

So don't worry about friends, a partner or anything else, give it to God and get on with what God has given you to do now, leave the rest up to Him.

You will meet people! Your school must have other Christians or Christian Groups. The local churches will have single groups, bible study group and Sunday fellowship. So step away from the computer and go forth and fellowship!

Well I made a best friend but she moves back and unless a sizable dowry is possible (reversed compared to how it was historically done of course as she's the one who both makes money and would need to bear costs such as a loan) and she realizes I can take out my money anywhere and actually contribute, nothing will be possible. And meeting her has raised my standards so much that now anything and everyone pales compared to her to the degree that I can't even look at anyone else nor feel optimistic at finding anyone like her who I'd be as successfull or more successfull with.
