Armed didn't you say you were not against "him" (god) that is, yet everything you say just like the previous statement is clearly against him?

Face the fact you are against him... and isn't the only reason you subscribed to this forum in the first place just to pick fights with "so called" zealous christians?

Seems the only kinda christian it's OK to be these days, is those that goes to church every sunday, but... never read their bible, never pray... pick and choose... beliving in stuff that supports the "popular" lifestyle and disregard the rest. (of the bible)

I don't think there is any point arguing with you though, seems you've made up your mind. Especially not for me that can't throw and scriptiures in your face cause I don't know any. :sigh:

You say you used to be a christian previously, what happened? Why did you become a christian at first and then later walk away? Or were you just a christian cause you're parants were.

As far as this game is concerned... my mom use to tell me that when I was a kid I used to start crying when I saw violence on TV. (eh I can't ever remember that myself).

Nowadays there is hardly a thing on TV that would even make me blink. So don't say violent games/TV shows don't affect people. Might not make you a killer but... since I started playing RPGs like diablo,... well I'd say the past 2-3 years have completly gone to waste. I've not done much else during my spare time then play stupid PC games,... it has to stop.

Im more or less adressing what Durelen was telling me. If someone told me to follow a hindu god, id obviously criticize it since its being specificly preached to me. Overall I dont believe in any gods, so im nuetral on the subject

Yay, assumptions!! Im not against your religious figurehead, I dont believe in it. I came to this forum because I used to be christian, and wanted to discuss and debate on religious subjects. Come check out the Open Debate and Discussion forum sometime.

To me, a good christian is someone who doesnt shove hell doctrine down your throat and acts like they are superior to non-christians. Someone whos more understanding and helpful, instead of zealous in their condemnation.

Technically there isnt a point in arguing with me , and id rather not argue with you anyway. I have nothing against you.

I was a christian because my parents were. Infact I was a christian up until about last year. I didnt see why people should go to hell for merely not believing in this particular religion, and why good people who werent christian couldnt go to heaven. This would mean people like Ghandi and Albert Einstein are toasting in the eternal lava pit right now. The literal YEC christians really turned me off also. I also didnt see any convincing evidence on why I should believe christianity over any other religion.

Lol, thats sort of cute actually. Im fine with fake blood and fake violence, because I know its all fake. I play violent videogames all the time actually. Youll never ever see me watching medical shows or whatever, the sight of REAL blood makes me cringe.

I think of videogames as interactive storys. Instead of sitting back and reading, your taking an active role in the story. I personally like that a lot more :)

Well, to be honest i don't like diablo 2 but then, christian are people, you are free, go ahead play it, but never do what you do in games, i play violent games sometimes but i'am smart enuff and so are you all that i would never ever in my life do any of does violence stuff. Some games show you the punishments you get. If any of you played true crime streets of la it shows you you cannot get away from something you do and containue, you always get caught. I think many of you heard of the cop killer in Los Angeles. This is unbeliveble he went alll the way to mexico and the mexicans sent them to USA. Whatever game you play just be smart enuff not to do it, and dont get mad over a game. I dont belive in game ratings cuz games are games. There is no good or bad games their just video games. If you think the stuff that happens in the game would be cool then you gotta slowly stop playing the game. If you cant stop playing it and you keep think its cool to do does stuff, if its on computer delete it and sell it on ebay so it never gets into you hands.

I also think game prices are really high, 50 dollars is alot but some of us still pay if i could change one thing in games i would make it no more than 20 to 30 dollars more.

A little plastic cartrige/cd/dish w/ little bits of information on it should never make someone question their standing in Gods eyes or their own. These things were designed purley for entertainment value and should only be viewed as such. it has no actualy effect on your conscience or you as a person. because you might harm someone in a game certainly does not mean you're a violent person by any stretch of the imagination. Play the games and enjoy them for the entertainment they provide. its as simple as that

If anyone would like a book based on this i recommend Kilobyte. Its a fantasy novel by Piers Anthony (sp?) and is about a virtual reality game involving trickery and cunning but also gives a good example of what some people playing these games can be like when you think outside of the self-concious, over impressionable youth

Look at the cover, you tell me.

Does that look like a game a Christian should allow the holy spirit to witness, I think not. This world is obscessed with death and the occult. It saddens me when I see Christians so pulled into the worlds way of thinking, especially through games such as this. You may kill "Satan" in this game, but the real Satan is sitting back laughing, because he certainly has you if you think playing this game is honoring God.

From an ex-Diablo2 player who knows exactly what this game contains, evil.

LMAO. Hilarious, delusional people = amusing.

But seriously though, Diablo 2 will turn you into Satan's offspring. Just look at that box art, it's pure evil, with a side-order of evil, topped with whipped evil, served on an evil Kaiser bun, with evil potato wedges.

First of all, there is not proof. Just because I play a game with cover art like that, doesn't make it evil. If thats your philosophy, then you can't spend a dollar since the pyramid on the back of the one-dollar bill is from the occult. Finally, prove that it makes a person demonic. Saying it, doesn't make it true. Plus, if you were so comfortable in your faith, then it wouldn't matter.

This saddens me, a child cannot even make a decision for himself without everyone pushing him one way or the other.

In any situation, go with your instinct, it will not lie.

And if you have indeed, followed your instinct: kudos!

Now for some much needed info--
As for the magic in D2, only a few characters use it...
Necromancer: reanimates corpses for aid in combat, poisons enemies, and create golems
Sorceress: relies on elemental magic to destroy her enemies
Druid: Allies himself with Nature, transforms into a werewolf/werebear
Assassin: martial arts/trap expert--NO MAGIC USED
Amazon: female warrior of the jungle, specialises in bow/arrow, spears, etc.--NO MAGIC USED
Paladin: holy warrior, uses auras and prayer to aid him in battle--NO MAGIC USED
Barbarian: Tribal fighter, has access to amazing feats of strength--NOTHING EVEN REMOTELY MAGIC ABOUT THIS GUY

...this is a fantasy game, fantasy=not reality. If this game is a threat to someone's spirituality...they must have a weak mind.

With this I have to disagree... it does lie from time to time...

But in any case, I don't think playing games is worse than watching films or listening to music. But anyone of these really CAN become an addiction and one shouldn't be completely oblivious to this possibility either. If games are pulling you further away from God then don't play them. If not, I don't see a problem.

As for Diablo II... well I enjoyed it. Pretty much like all Blizzard games :D. But one might want to concider if it's suited for all ages...

I agree with you Skellybones. According to their definition, even games like Zelda and Luigi's Mansion would be considered evil. Crash Bandicoot too. Now these are all games I enjoy. As for listening to your parents, the Bible only says to honor them, not obey them like a slave. I translate that as to not do anything that would harm your family. My parents for one, always try to control me, having my future already in mind, while I have a different one in mind. I am actually thinking of being a writer and have already sent in a story of mine for publication. My parents on the other hand, would have me serve them and take care of them, even though my sister got everything when she was younger. I am the first in my family to go to college. Would it be fair to me if I lived the life my parents wanted?

All I can say is that me and my wife played the game for 3 years straight. Before that, we even beta tested it. Without a doubt the game can suck you in and honestly can be a big blast to play. Course, this was also during a time of being "somewhat" backslidden in my relationship with God. I wasn't spending as much time as I should with Him and it affected our relationship a lot. Not that you would've been able to tell me that at the time. We would literally spends hours on the game every night. I was into item finding and my wife was into fighting against other players. Even when we came to a point that I had found multiples of every single item in the game and she had tweaked all her characters to the max and was very hard to beat, we couldn't let go of the game. I had 18 playing characters and 16 mules which are, for those that don't know, characters that carry items for you, and all of them were full. Bottom line, we didn't find the game to be necessarily bad, what we did find is that it took all our time (hours upon hours) and didn't have a lot to show for it. It hurt my relationship with God tremendously because it would consistently cut into my quiet time, something that is so important to have on a regular basis.

I can definitely say that there are so many better things and games that a person can do or play. We have since stopped playing the game and I don't really see us playing it anymore. This was a while back, I would say a little before the "infamous" 1.10 patch finally came out.

Think about it this way: God says: "All things in moderation". Satan says: "whatever keeps you distracted and non-focused to God". After all, according to Satan, you are your own God. Anything that can keep you from spending time with God... isn't that the bottom line of what Satan wants all of us to do and think?

I pray that none of you get as addicted to this game or anything else this world throws our way in the guise of entertainment, that will even slightly distract you from your relationship with God.

Hey cosmo.

Well, I played the game a lot when I first got it but I'd say I was really into it for about a month tops. I do still play it on occaison with some friends of mine while we are having a LAN. But wouldn't say it's sucking up too much time.

I'm into item collecting too but I''m really not bothered to collect all of them (would take waaaaaaaay too long :D). So, what set was the best anyways? ^_^

Couldn't agree more. This is good advice!
