What is the difference in complaining and asking God or anyone else about something? Is complaining mistaken for asking a valid concern? I think so. NTL do not rock the boat. Complain IMHO is accusing someone else of being the problem instead of accepting responsibility for ones self. Crying out in need is not complaining. Speaking against an injustice is not complaining.

OTH valid questions of redress are taken as complaining from thoes who do not wish to address a problem. Bringing the attention to something such as a rule violation is not complaining on the part of the questioner but may be with the one dealing with the issue. The reporting system here is a fine example.

I understand you . Many times , people tell others to stop complaining because they do not wish to address or fix am obvious problem . "Just shut up and do your job " , is a common statement by those in charge .

With respect to christianity , leaders will do the same thing when underlings have a question or two on a doctrine . "Just believe and do not doubt ( me ) ."

Agreed also

Job 24:12 Men groan from out of the city, and the soul of the wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.

Jerm 12:8 Mine heritage is unto me as a lion in the forest; it crieth out against me: therefore have I hated it.

Paul quoted a complaint book 3 times in the NT, 3 if we give him Hebrews, one of the most foundational verses to the Gospel, in Heb 10:38, Rom 1:17, Gal 3:11. The Lord answered the complaint.

Habakkuk 2

2:1 I will take my stand at my watchpost
and station myself on the tower,
and look out to see what he will say to me,
and what I will answer concerning my complaint.The Righteous Shall Live by His Faith
2 And the Lord answered me:
“Write the vision;
make it plain on tablets,
so he may run who reads it.
3 For still the vision awaits its appointed time;
it hastens to the end—it will not lie.
If it seems slow, wait for it;
it will surely come; it will not delay.

4 “Behold, his soul is puffed up; it is not upright within him,
but the righteous shall live by his faith.

Good point, even Abraham wondered if God would destroy the good with the evil, nothing wrong with questions or complaints.

We could also start listing the complaints that the Jesus had - especially with the religious figureheads . And , as so many write ... He is to be our example . ...

Jude 1:16 These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.

just thinkin'....."complaints" i think, are sometimes mis-construed as "grumbling" and "attacking" like the Israelites with Moses, who had temper tantrums about not liking the manna, etc.

The "complaints" that David and others brought to our Abba were from the depths of their hearts, souls, and minds, that needed to be expressed. Who ELSE did they have? Who ELSE do we have. They were burdened. They "lamented" to the Lord. They were suffering. God NEVER admonished us to be "stoic". THat's a lie from the pit of the enemy's abode. The enemy will do ANYTHING to keep us from continually going to the Lord about everything. Why is that? It's because he knows that's where we get our strength, restoration, healing, love, and "hugs" from. Yes, hugs.

John, was called the disciple Jesus loved. Was that possibly because John had no trouble at all laying his weary head on Jesus' chest?

Sometimes we need to just crawl up on our Abba's lap and lay our lamenting, weary heads on His chest and STAY there for a while.
