Protests are springing up throughout Iran calling for the Ayatollah to step down.

Trump tweets support of Iranian anti-government protesters after Ukrainian passenger plane shot down

So what should be the response in America from both sides of the political isle? We know what President Trump's position on this is. He's given his support and encouragement for their cause and goal but what about the Democrats?

If these brave protesters caused the present government in Iran to go down and a new one to emerge one that allowed more freedom and liberty to the people would they the Democrats support it?

And if it did come about....would they finally acknowledge that something good and great did come from Trump's various actions.....the sanctions on Iran and the taking out of the bad guy Soleimani. It seems those things would have served as a domino effect to bring about a regime change in that country. No?

So would the Democrats like all this to succeed? And furthermore what would be the effect on the 2020 elections if Trump goes into it with a success that his actions brought about a regime change in that country?

I hope and pray it turns out well for the Iranian people. They have suffered long enough under this regime. They deserve democracy to live a better life.

But they have no friend in the Dems, they will fight Trump to the bitter end and if the Iranian people suffer in the process, they won't care.

So far, everything has played into Trump's hand and freedom for Iran is in sight. But it will be Trump who sees it through, don't look for anything from the Dems.

Most people are angry that the Ayatollah isn’t doing much to retaliate against America, many are also angry that Iran has corruption problems, most of the protesters want Khameni and Rouhani to step down not for a total regime change. Iranians don’t have a positive view of America so there’s no chance of a new regime ever coming into play, the present regime itself is a horrific reaction to how America supported the Shah and his dictatorship. So unless America changes its ways the Islamic system is probably going to stay, the regime itself is basically kept alive on hate to America and the West by the general population, every sanction America throws at Iran starving its people to death only ignites more love for the regime. So I don’t see it changing any time soon.

Yes Charlie, Amerika certainly knows how to free ppl. They're liberating souls from bodies throughout the Mideast even as I write.

Not sure if you're up with the latest, but Western countries are essentially all bankrupt militarised zombies that do the will of their secret creditors, and demockery is a farce maintained only for public entertainment purposes.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your great gifts of grace and mercy, we trust in your perfect love for us and in the hope of redemption for the whole world through your son Jesus Christ. Father, I pray that sight be restored, that captives be liberated, that the lame leap for joy like deer. Father may your son return on the clouds full of grace and truth so that every eye may see, and every knee bow and tongue confess that you are God and you have done what you promised, that thy Kingdom come and your peace and rest may reign forever. Amen.

I recently watched on Fox News and seen 2 grown Iranian men with tears running down their faces saying, we don't hate America, we love America.

I watched an Iranian reporter with tears in her eyes as she told of her brother imprisoned by this regime with many others. She said the majority of Iranians do not hate America.

Fox News is extremely reliable. Americans don’t hate Americans as people, they don’t like the leadership. And most Iranians living in Iran don’t love America and why should they America is starving them to death and threatening to bomb them if they retaliate to the US’s aggression in the region. Does that Iranian reporter actually live in Iran, or is she one of the pro Shah Westernized Iranians that have never actually lived in or set foot in Iran.

The Iranian people are not stupid, they know why they are starving. They know Trump is in the right. The majority anyway.

They are being killed for their protesting against this regime.

I think cnn and msnbc is spreading their propaganda and to many folks are buying it.

They are starving for opposing US policies in the region and people know that the US’s propaganda machine can’t cover this one up. You know Trump assassinated Soleimani illegally right? There was absolutely no evidence that he was planning attacks against the US embassies in Iraq, he also violated another countires sovereignty by doing so, the Iranian regime isn’t good or perfect, and some people are protesting because they want to stop starving and basically surrender to American demands although even with the regime gone things won’t be better in Iran, it will just allow the US to tear it up further and further. The US has starved and terrorized a country to the point where it’s people want to start giving into its demands, people in Iran don’t like America, people in Iraq don’t like America, people in Syria don’t like America, people in Lebanon don’t like America, we don’t want you here anymore. Leave us in peace and stop terrorizing us with your friends in the Gulf.

America has a new president that will not tolerate bad actors throughout the Mid-East.

Sad to say, that is the majority of the Mid-East. As long as they threaten the world with terrorism and violence and the killing of their own he will be active in taking corrective measures, if they want to play tough, he knows how to do that also.

We in America are tired of the problems the Mid-East continue to bring to the world. We now have a president who will use a firm hand on these bad actors.

If these countries do not want us around, then get a grip on your conduct. If not, our president will be there and he is not playing games.

No offense and this me trying to me civil can you seriously get anymore silly. Who occupied and destabilized a country for eight long years. Whose starving a country to death threatening to bomb cultural sites. Your leadership wants to be in the Middle East, after all whose constantly propping up terrorist Islamic groups whenever it seems like their time is up, why is it that Isis grew in territory when the US intervened in Syria, why is it that the US is actively intervening against Iran now that Isis is gone? Which middle eastern country has troops stationed in America? How many middle eastern countries does America have troops stationed in? So your seriously saying that the average Iranian who struggles to live due to US sanctions on his country is threatening the world with terrorism? Didn’t the US also threaten Iraq with worse sanctions then Iran if it democratically votes too get the US to leave the region? Who here is constantly threatning people with military violence and sanctions if they don’t do what they say and propping up terrorist ground to destabilize the region? Whose conduct needs changing the people angry at being occupied, starved, and killed?

The difference in presidents could hardly be starker. Back in 2009 obama cut all ties to the Iranian patriots and let them twist in the wind. With a little moral support the world might have been rid of its worst regime. I remember the brave voices out of Iran going dark one by one on Twitter back then.

This president, by contrast, has cut off the mullahs and has pledged support to the patriots. No doubt this is emboldening them to return the streets as they did back then. Perhaps finally their time has come. I hope so. Iran wants freedom and in large part is ready to break out into Christianity.

Here is a powerful testimony from a guy who had a position in the islamic revolution. He tells it like it is regarding the true nature of the regime and of Islam.

Don't believe all the reports. A lot of pro government protests are staged. The government of Iran wants the West to beat itself up and leave Iran to become a nuclear armed state.
There are also reports of revival in Iran. It is most encouraging to hear some good reports instead of the usual doom and gloom. Many Iranians hold the regime accountable for the sanctions, not the USA. Keep praying. God is doing miracles and we want to see many more.

For the reason that they're suffering by opposing US policies still doesn't mean they don't hope the U.S. policies won't prevail and force change.

I’m sure many Iranians hope that the US will end its sanctions against them, though I’m sure they hate the US for encacting them in the first place. And Soleimani’s assassination was infact illegal and yes it does violate international law and there was little evidence he planned the embassy attack in Iraq or was planning more:

I’m completely opposed to the regime of Saudi Arabia, but I prefer not to talk about it openly online due to fears of imprisonement or execution. Also I’m Levantine in origin and proud of it, I regret that most of my family immigrated here and I’d personally like to go back to where I’m from.

Iran can easily retaliate viciously against the US in the region, the people right now are more angry then the actually leadership is. However Iran has repeatedly stated it doesn’t want to go head to toe with the US in the region, but it will defend itself if the US assassinates any of its officials or attempts to bomb it or its allies or proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, and Yemen. 2/3s or Iranians wanting to restore relations with the US isn’t a lot by the way.

Iran already had anti western feelings before the Mullahs took control, infact the 1979 revolution was secular in nature and not Islamic the Mullah’s just became the dominant opposition force during the revolution and soon took control after. After all the West removed the democratically elected government of Mohammed Mosaddegh that was secular in favor of a brutal monarch that was viritually unpopular and hated in Iran. The West’s treatment of Iran has been completely hostile in its modern history, from the placing the Shah in power against the will of the people, to arming Saddam Hussein with chemical weapons to use against the Iranian people, to placing crushing sanctions against Iran and its people. The USA is accountable for the rise of the current regime just like it is accountable for the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan. Even if the present regime went, Iran wouldn’t be an ally to the West or America, yes also of pro government protests are staged especially with the recent killing of Qassem Soleimani. And anyone who knows a little history of the relationship between Iran and the United States, will know that it’s the US who should be held accountable for this current predicament not Iran.

I have to wonder how many in this country remember a more secular way of life from the past. Yet, that is what they are asking for to return. I doubt the youth know what that truly means after being under the thumb of the religious and authoritarian leadership they grew up with. That is all they know, but no doubt have heard of how it was in the past.

Many will gripe and complain about events of the past, but most should be able to realize the people there do want more freedom. I'm not saying they want to look like the world, but their own culture without the fear. I think that is admirable personally, and I hope they find their way to it as well.

I worked with some Iranians here in the states and they certainly had a poor opinion of politics, freedom and life in Iran. I did not hear them complain that they wished America would give them fewer freedoms so they could feel more at home.
