It would also be weird for Iran to confirm reports about their treatment of homosexuals if it weren't true.

I think I was just pointing out the the Iran you get from media is not entirely accurate.

It's also sadly not controversial to base your entire opinion of a country off those reports.

Iran is generally seen as a safe place for tourists, with the exception of the borders to countries the USA invaded. And you need to keep your head down and not rock the boat in a political and religious way.

Personally, I wouldn't go.

If idiots choose to travel in unsafe countries. That's their problem. I'm
not really seeing a difference between Iran and America.

My entire opinion? They hung a teen public, last summer, for being gay.

I've known Iranian people who I thought were very nice and good people. That would lead me to assume that there are many people like them in Iran.

There is however, an effect on one's perspective that seems to happen with some people living in western civilizations. A sort of general disregard for the freedoms and permissiveness that comes from living in a relatively liberal and multicultural society. Some people seem either oblivious of the fact or naive to the understanding that most of the world is not the same way.
