My name is Jim Jarrell. I am a 67 year old white male. I have had some interesting experiences with God over the years. I will post one now and see if anyone else has experienced anything like it.

God Still Heals In This Day

    Jim Jarrell

It seems to me that there are far too many people who do not believe that God still heals today. I can say this because of the conversations I have had in the last twelve years. I know that God heals because it happened in my own body. In March of 2001 I suffered an injury that turned out to be in my back. I spent all of April that year in a wheel chair going from doctor to doctor trying to find out what had happened. My right leg just could not handle my weight and it took an MRI machine taking pictures to find the problem. It turned out that I had ruptured a disk in my lower back between L-5 and S-1 in my spine.

A surgery was scheduled for May 11,2001. After the surgery, I was told to go home and spend the next three months in bed. I probably do not have to explain how hard that was. The pain from the surgery was very intense and could sort of be relieved with prescribed pain medicines. Because of my past drug use, my wife and I were very careful to make sure I was just using the drugs as prescribed. My wife is very knowledgeable of my drug use even though she has really never seen me like that.

At the end of the three month bed rest, the pain was still very present. As I returned to work, I tried to use less of the pain medicine. I tried all kinds of over the counter pain relievers while making an attempt to work. This lasted over the next 5 years, but I still had to endure the back pain.

In January 2006 I got a phone call. The man on the other end said; “Jim, God tells me that you are think this.” He went on to tell me exactly what I was thinking before he called. When a person can tell you what you are thinking, it will get your attention. He went on to say: “God wants you to come to our church, He has a plan for you there.” Given the fact that he had been able to tell me my own thoughts, I was more than willing to see what this meant. I talked with my wife and we went to this church to following Sunday.

We had about a thirty minute drive out to this church in the country. We must have passed many churches on the way, we do live in South Carolina. We parked and headed inside. I have attempted to say what happened when I crossed the threshold of the door. I can only say that I somehow knew that I was in the right place at the right time. The man who had called me on the phone met us and we sat beside them. I had never been in a Spirit filled church before and I was very quiet and watched my surroundings very carefully. Worship began and lasted about one hour. I had also never seen contemporary worship before, but I have to say I enjoyed that more than I thought I would. The stage had maybe ten people playing a wide assortment of instruments and singers. The music they played sounded so much more modern day than the hymns I used to hear in the Baptist Church as a child.

After the worship was over, the Pastor began to teach. His message that morning was on the gifts of the Holy Spirit. I had heard of these gifts, but I believed they had died with the Apostles. This Pastor was speaking of them like they were still happening today. He was about fifteen minutes into his message and all of a sudden he just stopped. He went on to announce that God had spoken to him and He wanted to minister to some people who were there. He explained how he could see God’s Glory on people in the form of lights and that was how God would reveal who He wanted to minister to. He went on to speak with others first and then he called a young lady to the front of the church. God had shown him this lady had a short leg and a back problem the He wanted to heal.

Before he ministered to her, he called my wife and I up to see how this went because we were new there. I watched as her left leg grew out to the same length as her right. He spoke with her for a few minutes and then asked if I would sit down. He said that God had shown him that I had the same problem and that is why my back had issues. As he lifted my feet off the ground, I must confess I really did not know what to say. As he prayed, I watched my right leg become the same length as my left. All of a sudden I started to feel a strange heat start in my lower back and pass through my entire body. He told me how young I would feel when I stood up, but I guess I did not believe him. He went on to tell me about things that God had planned for my life and how God would use my wife and I in the future. The things that were said that day were overwhelming, but the best was yet to come. When I finally stood up, I had no pain in my body what so ever. I was speechless, everything he had told me seemed correct.

No one will ever tell me this was my imagination, it happened in my own body. We started attending this church on a regular basis. I was 54 years old, but I felt so young that I started playing on a softball team full of much younger guys. That was 12 years ago, but I still do not have back or knee pain. When God does something, He does it right. I saw many other things happen over the next few years, but I will leave that for some other time.

Fascinating and I believe you. My wife and myself pray every day for God to send someone or something to help us in our old age (80's). He hears our prayers, we are saved through our faith, but not now, yet, in this world from our distress.
If you do not mind me asking, did you pray for some relief before the man telephoned you? Did you know him beforehand? God bless you.

I did not. I was raised in a Baptist church and I was under the impression the gifts of the spirit died with the Apostles. I was so wrong, even when the pastor prayed for me, I did not believe I would be healed. The whole experience made me rethink everything I had learned.

Please ignore me if I am being too intrusive, but because I believe there is great truth in your testimony I feel I need to explore it a little further.
I asked two questions and you gave one reply: "I did not." That is did you not pray beforehand, and/or did you not know the man who telephoned beforehand?
Either way my belief in your experience remains complete. My wife says the man was Jesus, whether you prayed beforehand or not.

I am disappointed, Jim, that you have had no further responses here to your OP, not even a welcome to CF since you have placed this in the Introduce Yourself Forum as a new member. My first post was in the nature of a welcome.
Are most Christians here sceptical concerning the healing powers of the Holy Spirit?

Wow! That was so amazing... Thank you for your great testimony on how God had healed you, Jim. It just shows how mighty and wonderful our God is, even till this day. If we keep His Word in our hearts, it will manifest one day. In Isaiah 53:5, "But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed."

Day in and day out, we always hear people share about their receipt of miracles, whether it's physical or psychological, or mentally, emotionally, or anything small or big, and they mean so much to them, and so real. Many may not understand till they truly experience themselves. But for those who are still waiting for their miracle to happen, hold on to His Word, meditate it day and night, and the day will come when your miracle will come to pass.

It's so great for you to be here, to join the forum, and to share your miracle with all of us. I believe someone may actually need to hear/see your testimony.

As for the forum, I hope you will take some time to browse and read from the different subforums. Perhaps you may find some topics of interest that you may wish to share your thoughts and opinions with many others.

May the Lord blesses you and your family greatly.

    :amen:
