I am asking you to explain what you think the text means. I see the text as it is plainly written, and you are saying it does not mean that and it is totally unrelated. You are not giving me any reason with the text why this is so. You are not giving me your interpretation and you are just hitting the disagree button. I do not have this problem with other people I talk with. Even though many will use verses out of context, and explain the text in an odd an unusual way; They at least respond back and forth with me with Scripture. In other words, so much for a discussion about the Bible. You completely ended the discussion before it even starts. I say this not to wound you, dear sir. But I say this because this is a Christian forum whereby I expect Christians to know how to discuss the Bible (back and forth) with me. For this is not my first rodeo. I have discussed on Christian forums for many years now. Usually when somebody is unwilling to explain their position with Scripture, I get the impression they really are not all that strong in the Word of God on what they believe.

He is not wrong just as you are not wrong. He's reading Isaiah as Jews read it and you're reading it as a Christian.

There are plenty of Jews that see an individual when reading Isaiah 53. It is not a "Christian" way of reading, but the most natural way to read it. To make the servant a nation is totally forced.

Eh, Catholics are a subset of Christians. And non-Catholic Christians did plenty of rotten things to Jews too. Half of Nazi Germany was Lutheran. Ever read Luther's "On the Jews and their Lies" ???? Most anti-Semitic text in history.

Oh, and here is the 353 Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament.

Jason, let me say first that as a Christian I also see Messianic prophecies in the Tanakh.

But here are some problems I have with your statement.

1. Virtually ALL of the so-called messianic prophesies in the Tanakh are not meant as prophecies. They are writings about something else (usually about Israel) that are then given figurative overlay of a messianic interpretation. For example, Hosea 11:1 says, When Israel was a child I loved him, and out of Egypt I have called my son" is an OBVIOUS reference to the Exodus. Yet Matthew states this is a prophecy about Jesus returning from Egypt! You can understand why Jews roll their eyes -- even I have to say it's really stretching it. I only believe it's a prophecy because Matthew says it is. Some of the 353 so-called prophecies you mention go further than stretching it. They snap and break.
2. Christians cannot agree with how many prophecies there are largely because they are "reading into the text" these messianic overlays and your guess is as good as my guess which verses you can do this with.
