From the "PC police outraged at being out of the loop", files: Inside Mark Zuckerberg's private meetings with conservative pundits

The dinners, which began in July, are part of Zuckerberg’s broader effort to cultivate friends on the right amid outrage by President Donald Trump and his allies over alleged “bias” against conservatives at Facebook and other major social media companies. "I’m under no illusions that he’s a conservative but I think he does care about some of our concerns,” said one person familiar with the gatherings, which multiple sources have confirmed.
...
“The discussion in Silicon Valley is that Zuckerberg is very concerned about the Justice Department, under Bill Barr, bringing an enforcement action to break up the company,” said one cybersecurity researcher and former government official based in Silicon Valley. “So the fear is that Zuckerberg is trying to appease the Trump administration by not cracking down on right-wing propaganda.”

One can only marvel at how open the Democrat PC crowd is about their expectations that high tech should openly censor things they disagree with.

Facebook has been criticized in recent days, including by Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren, for its ad policy, which exempts politicians from third-party fact-checking and arguably facilitates the spread of disinformation.

Democrats in Congress even pressured Facebook to do their bidding ...

The committee’s Democrats sent a previously unreported letter to Facebook in June, after a doctored video of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went viral on the platform, asking what the company was doing to address “the spreading of political disinformation by real accounts.”

We are concerned that you and your company are not taking these occurrences seriously and are grossly unprepared for the 2020 election,” they wrote. “Specifically, we are concerned that there may be a potential conflict of interest between Facebook’s bottom line and immediately addressing political disinformation on your platform.”

Interesting times, very interesting times ... the cracks in the PC armor will likely grow bigger quickly.

It would be great if they could crack down on disinformation no matter where it's coming from.
2016 trolls were so good that they convinced people to do campaign rallies.
LOL ... it would be great if politicians would quit lying. Freedom of speech has historically been the best antidote.

Censorship never ends well. In the old days people used to burn books. These days, some people seem to believe that only approved truths should be allowed.

Censorship frequently ends well. Like the way you can’t market your water medicine as a cure for cancer. That is censoring someone’s right to tell lies and most of us are thankful for that censorship. You also can’t (in most civilized countries) libel or slander people. Again that is censoring someone’s right to tell lies, and is a net positive.

What you're talking about is not censorship. It's making one accountable for their actions.

What the left is calling for currently is outright censorship. That never ends well.

So let me get this right, when it’s someone slandering or libeling someone it’s ‘making someone accountable for their actions’ but when you do it via a Facebook ad that will be seen by millions, it’s A-OK?

Tell me more about how lying is a good thing.

No one is talking about "censoring things they disagree with". They do, however, try to censor misinformation/propaganda/false news stories.

I have to ask why the OP is so concerned about spreading falsehoods that he's outraged by trying to prevent it?

This website has rules about what can be posted here and that is censorship. What's the difference between this privately owned site and Facebook?
The President has done his best to censor the news outlets by saying they all, except Fox, publish fake news.

I think we've seen how propaganda/misinformation can be dangerous. ie pizzagate, by Alex Jones

WHO determines what is a "lie"?

If you state something is true without any proveable evidence to support that claim, then you’re standing on treacherous ground. In this case a claim was being made that is proveable untrue, and thus a lie.
