Brother, you have a whole different world of brandy compared to the United States.

That may be.
Here in our region we make brandy out of every fruit that we can have hold of! :)

Most major US brands are distilled from grapes. There are also several major labels of apple. This is changing as the interest in artisanal spirits increases. Some common boutique offerings include plum, peach, and apricot.

I'm seeing more imports as well from places like Serbia and Croatia. Most better liquor stores will stock some sort of plum brandy from the Balkans.

The French call these: l'eau de vie = water of life!
Btw: Whisky as a word has got the same meaning. :)
