Would this have great value? Chinese is from the other side of the Earth. There is a huge cultural difference I suppose, and this is not for me if there is no great future benefit. I'm not going to make efforts teaching kids or beginning learning myself. Even so if I want this I have an option. It's an option. If I don't take it I'm not contributing myself anything to child eventually being able to become a professional interpreter.
The difference in culture would reveal a new world to me, as long as something can be transmitted. At best some benefit having widened my views to be able to author better.
So I'm not asking how to accomplish this as it's a readily available option, just whether there's value to this, can I set aside any desires to accomplish this? Can I let go of something to have this?
This will be current only at this moment, not to be chosen later.
Just asking for the value I suppose
Put it in any terms of enjoyment, compensation, $$:s, time. I want value in this life, I can't start pursuing a life of raisin a child for 15-20 Years to eventually see him/her reaping benefit from this.
If I want to go with this option, I want to be convinced now, not that only the next generation would get something out of the endeavour.
Do I get for example status? Could the right kind of people look up to me for having made such a choice I have in front of me now, if I take the step? Would it be something worth mentioning - which would have just about anyone seeing that I made a good choice? I'm talking about that I have a hard time convincing anyone about things being optimal, no matter which of the completely different options I choose
EDIT 10 minutes after posting: If I want a rich life I can probably even have that but then the problem would be the same as here: Too small, if any, age-difference
