• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I went years without the knowledge that a once a month shot was even available to me.
For someone who struggled with trying to remember to take pills every day, this monthly injection came as a tremendous blessing. So I'm passing along this information. If you are somebody who has issues with taking pills every day and would look for a helpful alternative, ask your Doctor about the injections. I take the liquid equivalent of Abilify which is called Aristada.

I'm very happy for you. I myself didn't know of this. However, now that I do know, if I find someone who is going through a hard time such as yourself, I would be sure to let them know of such a wonderful treatment. I would say they are better than pills not only if you have a problem with taking them but also because injections work quicker too.

Thanks for spreading the word. Others may not know and desire something like this.

I have a fear of injections--especially mental health injections. Sometimes I take the pills and they backfire, making things worse. I comfort myself in knowing that in several hours it will wear off. It doesn't happen very often, but I don't think I could handle it if I was put in that state for a month.

I am glad it is working for you. I have other injections I take and it is great to not have to worry about them all the time.
