• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yeah, I went through a period in my life when I would agree totally with Grommit... Now, these days, you can't blaim God for all the **** you go through. Because, God gave you free will, and you used it in a way to get you into situations that you completely and totally hate. And it isn't God's choice to save you or not... it's your choice. God gave his everything so that you may be saved if you accept his gift. Hopefully, Grommit, you will pull yourself out of the ditch you've created as I had to do. Now, mind you, it took me about 8 months and a huge slap on the face, but I got out. You are probably going to hate me because I've said this or something. I know I would hate me if I said this to me about 9 months ago...

landon, everyone goes through times when they doubt God. It's like an unwritten rule or something... Like Unimatrix said, just hang in there. Do you go to a youth group? If you do, try talking with your youth pastor. I knwo you may not want to tell anyone that you know personally, but he/she is your pastor. He/she is there to help you through times like these! Everybody has there ups and downs, sooner or later you'll be on a spiritual high and look back to this time and just can't help wondering how you ever got to be there. Hang in there!

Hey little bro.
Don't do this. You're going through a really bad time right now. God is who you need to lead you through this darkness. Don't let go of him. Really. He'll get you through it. I don't know why you have to go through what you're going through. But you'll get through it. He'll get you through it.
You gotta trust me on this one.
You gotta trust Him.

I know how you feel, I used to feel the same way, but then I started to read the bible more and I kinda got a better understanding about God. You just have to have faith. "How do you know that God is there?" Faith...I mean I'd rather follow what the bible says and do what God commands, than be wrong in the end... Just look around, people say 'you can't see God, how do you know He's there?' Well in a way you can see him, there's evidence...EVERYWHERE!!! Things don't just happen ''because'', things aren't just there by accident or by qwincidence, it's all God, and if that can't help you then just look out your window, or let the wind blow in you face, watch the sun set, watch it rise, I mean, it's really intense once you think about and get a better understanding...

May God bless your life to it's fullest!!!

Like others have said, everyone goes thru times like this- I have (frequently). I spent ages weighing up the evidence for and against God before finally coming to the conclusion that if God was there, he'd let us know. I'd get really angry, wondering why he didn't make things clearer for us. But looking at the story of Jesus and at the men and women who followed his word over the years, things began to become clearer again for me. I believe that God did (and does) let us know he's there- he sent his son to be like us in all things but sin. Jesus himself suffered both physically and mentally- My God, My God, why have you forsaken me- he cried on the cross. He said to us to give him our burdens and he would give us rest. That's a thought I keep in my head when things get rough.
Landon, I agree with Globexgirl- find someone you trust and talk it thru with them. That's one thing it didn't do and I'm sure I would have got thru it sooner if I had. The other thing is to keep praying, even tho it feels worthless, because he'll hear.
Take care

can someone help me with this issue im having, how do weknow God is real? How did he even get here? How to we know he was not just another person who claims hes a God?How do we know this isnt just something that will make us not worry about when we die??

Just look into the heavens. Do you really think this could have happened by accident? Look how marvelously we are created. Can sight, memory, thought, and emotion really be a result of an ooze? Where did the elements of this initial life come from? Do not fear. Just ask God to reveal it to you and wait for His perfect timing.

Look at all Jesus said. Are these the words of someone who does not know God? Besides-Buddha never claimed to be God.

Now consider this: Christianity is the only religion that recognizes the need for and provides atonement for sin. This is your proof that it is the real McCoy.

Now look inside. Is there something you struggle with, something you know would displease God? If so, then your doubt is a mechanism designed to make an allowance for that sin. Learn to conquer the sin, and you will no longer need this mechanism because the sin that made it necessary to think God isn't real and the afterlife isn't real, will have been eradicated. Blessings to you, my friend.

Landon, you need to find yourself......figure out who you are what you want to do with your life......maybe a change in scenery or even just a change in doing something different....don't give up on God, he is there even though we can't see him.....I'm going through a time of doubt myself, but I know he is there, I just keep shutting him out when I doubt him.....maybe something like some time away from your friends is all you need, or change your prayer time or where you pray.....these are only suggestions on how to grow closer to him.....you will find him when you seek with all of your mind, all of your heart, and all of your soul........
