I'm going to have deal with Amazon because I'm 98% sure my delivery driver is stealing my packages

I'm not looking forward to dealing with customer service, the complaints department etc.

I live in a sleepy quiet neighborhood with little crime according to my local friends who grew up here and for what I've seen as well. On both days, I was around the house. Last week especially was quiet. This week was a little busier but I was watching things much more like a hawk after having the same exact order/product stolen a low end item a bottle for a years supply of 24 hour generic Zirtek allergy pills costing me something like $15.44 when tax was thrown in...

I'm glad it was a small dollar order on both times, and I paid most of it the first time using credit card points. But it does make me angry and paranoid as far as any kind of orders and receiving things from mail.

If I don't get some kind of satisfaction, I am going to have to part ways with this company and I have done pretty well with them in the past.

Amazon customer service has always been good to me. I hope your driver isn't one of those problematic thieves. I will pray for your interaction with CS to be fruitful and without anxiety.

Depending on the product, it may be delivered by Amazon or UPS. UPS almost never gets delivered.

Both times I got proof pics, but I can tell my delivery driver is going out of his way to sneak in. Other delivery people, my neighbors slam doors, or at least stomp around etc. Not to mention, no knock on the door. Drivers don't always do that, but often they do especially if they are new on the job and honest and worried about being falsely accused for theft like this.

Also unfortunately what I'm ordering a small package is very attractive for thieves especially the dishonest drivers because they can bag them up with other small deliveries like an evil reverse santa clause only to take them home keep them or sell them on Ebay. (I started watching videos and reading web articles on this stuff last week when it first happened.)

2 months ago I had the same thing happen only with a small order of computer printer paper, I actually went out of my way to buy it from Walmart after that. But nearly identical to this time, except I was less vigilant as far as checking my doors and my email for delivery notices.

I guess it can vary by region. I recall working at a place and things were not being delivered by the courier, and I joked someone must be following the delivery van around and snatching the goods. Funny enough, this is exactly what happened and it ended up on the news.

Well tried using the customer service insta chat thing, at some point I was able to complain and explain that my last 3 Amazon orders have been stolen, yet I have received proof of delivery emails complete with pics taken of my doorway, or at least someplace in my apartment corridor. Tried to explain things that I believed my driver was stealing from me, but I'm pretty sure I was talking to a bot program with nobody intelligent listening in at least for now. So I guess, I will do tomorrow what I was originally planning of waiting around on the customer service number, or making them call me but I kind of hate to do that since I get so many spam solicitation calls for various things that I usually screen or ignore.

Wow can't wait for tomorrow to talk to a live person on the phone.

I may try another order, but will leave some detailed instructions

    1) Knock loudly on door

    2) After you snap your proof of delivery pick, please leave the package there, I realize it is tempting to steal it. (Have not received my last 3 orders, but got the proof of delivery pics).

OK got my refund on the last order. Reordered with following detailed instructions

"Please knock loudly on front or back door. After you snap the proof of delivery pic, please leave the package there. I will be closely looking and listening for deliveries all through the day and talking to customer service if I get pic but no stuff."

I really don’t see how delivery drivers can get away with theft. Unless they only stole things rarely. Also, it’s not their protocol to knock, there is nothing odd about them not knocking. More likely your neighborhood has a theif.

I'd say short of actually installing a porch cam. Put up a small "smile you're on camera" sign as a deterrent.

I pray that your situation gets resolved so that you can receive packages without fear of theft. I also pray that God would help you forgive the dishonest person who is stealing your goods.

I've made good head way. I got a refund on my last 2 thefts.

Just waiting to see if tomorrow I get something similar with trying to order the product again, but have even more precautions going in that I did on Tuesday.

Thanks everybody for their prayers and feedback.

As far as the notion that it can't be an Amazon driver many many examples like this nationwide.

From a standpoint of logic and reason it does not make sense, but unfortunately people don't always use those things. Their is something called the illusion of invulnerability that teenagers and people in their college years can have, where they take bigger risks than older folks because they don't believe bad events are likely to happen to them.

I had a chance to see this sort of thing first hand many years ago when I was in high school in the mid 80s. I met a seemingly nice guy in my Latin club that was seeking to stay in my hometown and continue his schooling so he could keep his friends, girl friend etc. while his parents moved away to a different state. My parents and I basically adopted him as a kind of a step son/brother to show a little Christian charity and hospitality. And I was glad to have him around as well because when my middle brother entered the Navy a few years back I was a little lonely.

That guy eventually began to steal from us, stealing checks from my parents, and stole a 20 dollar bill or two from me as well. He was largely motivated from a kind of passive aggressive resentment because it was not enough for us to adopt him, he also began to lobby for us to also adopt his dog as well and well I am allergic to dogs so that wasn't going to happen.

This guy spent his money using stolen checks from my mother to secretly begin buying used cars. He had around 8 used cars by the time we turned him into police, and he spent a few months in Juvenile Hall, including going to a state run reform Summer camp for similar offenders.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. I read an article about Amazon’s delivery service a year ago. If memory serves there’s a camera in the van and deliveries are timed. The piece was written due to complaints and accidents. The window was too short given the volume.

We receive a lot of packages in our building and get two deliveries from Amazon plus the others daily. I’ve never had one stolen. You may want to use the locker instead.

Thanks, I guess my next little homework assignment for today on this is to install the Amazon delivery app on my I phone and run it tomorrow.

I rarely use stuff beyond the basic apps that come with smart phones and such, like GPS navigation etc.

I have my stuff delved to where I work, because where I live there's a good chance it would get stolen. Plus there's cameras at work that record the whole delivery process.

Yeah if you make it more difficult in any way, it's probably going to deter them.
