    Make Me A Channel Of Your Peace

    [IMG]

    Make me a channel of your peace.
    Where there is hatred let me bring your love;
    Where there is injury your pardon, Lord;
    And where there's doubt true faith in you.

    Make me a channel of your peace.
    Where there's despair in life let me bring hope;
    Where there is darkness, only light;
    And where there's sadness, ever joy.

    Refrain:
    Oh, Master grant that I may never seek
    So much to be consoled as to console;
    To be understood as to understand;
    To be loved as to love with all my soul.

    Make me a channel of your peace.
    It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
    In giving to all men that we receive;
    And in dying that we're born to eternal life.

    When I survey the Wondrous Cross .

    [IMG]

    When I survey the wondrous cross
    On which the Prince of glory died,
    My richest gain I count but loss,
    And pour contempt on all my pride.

    Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast,
    Save in the death of Christ my God!
    All the vain things that charm me most,
    I sacrifice them to His blood.

    See from His head, His hands, His feet,
    Sorrow and love flow mingled down!
    Did e’er such love and sorrow meet,
    Or thorns compose so rich a crown?

    His dying crimson, like a robe,
    Spreads o’er His body on the tree;
    Then I am dead to all the globe,
    And all the globe is dead to me.

    Were the whole realm of nature mine,
    That were a present far too small;
    Love so amazing, so divine,
    Demands my soul, my life, my all.

    O bread of heaven .

    [IMG]

    Mass in the Cathedral of the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Westminster, London .

    O bread of heaven , sung during the giving of Holy Communion .
    Words: St Alphonsus Liguori

    Text:
    O Bread of Heaven, beneath this veil
    Thou dost my very God conceal:
    My Jesus, dearest treasure, hail!
    I love Thee and, adoring, kneel;
    Each loving soul by Thee is fed
    With Thine own Self in form of Bread.

    O food of life, Thou Who dost give
    The pledge of immortality;
    I live, no 'tis not I that live;
    God gives me life, God lives in me:
    He feeds my soul, He guides my ways,
    And every grief with joy repays.

    O Bond of love that dost unite
    The servant to his living Lord;
    Could I dare live and not requite
    Such love - then death were meet reward:
    I cannot live unless to prove
    Some love for such unmeasured love.

    Beloved Lord, in Heaven above
    There, Jesus, Thou awaitest me,
    To gaze on Thee with endless love;
    Yes, thus I hope, thus shall it be:
    For how can He deny me Heaven,
    Who here on earth Himself hath given?

    Oh Love that will not let me go .

    [IMG]

    George Matheson ( 1842-1906 ) wrote of his composition:
    "I am quite sure that the whole work was completed in five minutes, and equally sure that it never received at my hands any retouching or correction. I have no natural gift of rhythm.
    All the other verses I have ever written are manufactured articles; this came like a dayspring from on high."

    "O Love That Wilt Not Let Me Go" was written on the evening of Matheson’s sister’s marriage.

    Years before, he had been engaged, until his fiancée learned that he was going blind—that there was nothing the doctors could do
    —and she told him that she could not go through life with a blind man.
    He went blind while studying for the ministry, and his sister had been the one to care for him through the years, but now she was gone.
    He was now 40, and his sister’s marriage brought a fresh reminder of his own heartbreak.
    It was in the midst of this circumstance and intense sadness that the Lord gave Matheson this hymn, which he said was written in five minutes.

    1. O Love that wilt not let me go,
      I rest my weary soul in thee;
      I give thee back the life I owe,
      That in thine ocean depths its flow
      May richer, fuller be.
    2. O light that foll’west all my way,
      I yield my flick’ring torch to thee;
      My heart restores its borrowed ray,
      That in thy sunshine’s blaze its day
      May brighter, fairer be.
    3. O Joy that seekest me through pain,
      I cannot close my heart to thee;
      I trace the rainbow through the rain,
      And feel the promise is not vain,
      That morn shall tearless be.
    4. O Cross that liftest up my head,
      I dare not ask to fly from thee;
      I lay in dust life’s glory dead,
      And from the ground there blossoms red
      Life that shall endless be.
    Oh Love that will not let me go

    Love Divine.

    [IMG]

    Love divine, all loves excelling,
    Joy of heaven to earth come down;
    Fix in us thy humble dwelling;
    All thy faithful mercies crown!
    Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
    Pure unbounded love Thou art;
    Visit us with Thy salvation;
    Enter every trembling heart.

    Come, Almighty to deliver,
    Let us all Thy life receive;
    Suddenly return and never,
    Never more Thy temples leave.
    Thee we would be always blessing,
    Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
    Pray and praise Thee without ceasing,
    Glory in Thy perfect love.

    Finish, then, Thy new creation;
    Pure and spotless let us be.
    Let us see Thy great salvation
    Perfectly restored in Thee;
    Changed from glory into glory,
    Till in heaven we take our place,
    Till we cast our crowns before Thee,
    Lost in wonder, love, and praise.

    Be Still My Soul .

    [IMG]

    Be still, my soul; the Lord is on thy side;
    Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain;
    Leave to thy God to order and provide;
    In every change He faithful will remain.
    Be still, my soul; thy best, thy heavenly, Friend
    Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

    Be still, my soul; the hour is hastening on
    When we shall be forever with the Lord,
    When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,
    Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.
    Be still, my soul; when change and tears are past,
    All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.

    Come Down, O Love Divine.

    [IMG]

    Come down, O love divine, seek Thou this soul of mine,
    And visit it with Thine own ardor glowing.
    O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear,
    And kindle it, Thy holy flame bestowing.

    O let it freely burn, til earthly passions turn
    To dust and ashes in its heat consuming;
    And let Thy glorious light shine ever on my sight,
    And clothe me round, the while my path illuming.

    Let holy charity mine outward vesture be,
    And lowliness become mine inner clothing;
    True lowliness of heart, which takes the humbler part,
    And o’er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing.

    And so the yearning strong, with which the soul will long,
    Shall far outpass the power of human telling;
    For none can guess its grace, till he become the place
    Wherein the Holy Spirit makes His dwelling.

    What a friend we have in Jesus .

    [IMG]

    What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
    What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
    O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear,
    All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

    Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
    We should never be discouraged; take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
    Jesus knows our every weakness; take it to the Lord in prayer.

    Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
    Precious Savior, still our refuge, take it to the Lord in prayer.
    Do your friends despise, forsake you? Take it to the Lord in prayer!
    In His arms He’ll take and shield you; you will find a solace there.

    Christ is made the sure foundation

    [IMG]

    Ecumenical Celebration in the Anglican Westminster Abbey , London, 17 September 2010 , led by the Archbishop of Canterbury , Rowan Willams , with the participation of Pope Benedict and Christians from many traditions .

    Christ is made the sure foundation
    Words: Latin, c7th--8th century, translated by John Mason Neale
    Music: Henry Purcell
    Sung by: Westminster Abbey Choir

    Text:
    Christ is made the sure foundation,
    and the precious corner-stone,
    who, the two walls underlying,
    bound in each, binds both in one,
    holy Sion's help for ever,
    and her confidence alone.

    All that dedicated city,
    dearly loved by God on high,
    in exultant jubilation
    pours perpetual melody,
    God the One, in threefold glory,
    singing everlastingly.

    To this temple, where we call thee,
    come, O Lord of hosts, today;
    with thy wonted loving-kindness,
    hear thy people as they pray;
    and thy fullest benediction
    shed within its walls for ay.

    Here vouchsafe to all thy servants
    gifts of grace by prayer to gain;
    here to have and hold for ever,
    those good things their prayers obtain,
    and hereafter, in thy glory,
    with thy blessèd ones to reign.

    Laud and honour to the Father;
    laud and honour to the Son,
    laud and honour to the Spirit,
    ever Three, and ever One,
    One in love, and One in splendour,
    while unending ages run. Amen.

    Credo III- Westminster Cathedral.

    [IMG]

    The Credo sung during A Midnight Mass presided over by Cardinal Cormac , now the retired Archbishop of Westminster , London .

    Credo in unum Deum, Patrem omnipotentem, factorem caeli et terrae, visibilium omnium et invisibilium.
    Et in unum Dominum Jesum Christum Filium Dei unigenitum.
    Et ex Patre natum ante omnia saecula.
    Deum de Deo, lumen de lumine, Deum verum de Deo vero.
    Genitum, non factum, consubstantialem Patri : per quem omnia facta sunt.
    Qui propter nos homines, et propter nostram salutem decendit de caelis.
    Et incarnatus est de Spiritu sancto ex Maria Virgine : Et homo factus est.
    Crucifixus etiam pro nobis : sub Pontio Pilato passus, et sepultus est.
    Et resurrexit tertia die, secundum Scripturas.
    Et ascendit in caelum : sedet ad dexteram Patris.
    Et iterum venturus est cum gloria, judicare vivos et mortuos : cujus regni non erit finis.
    Et in Spiritum sanctum, Dominum, et vivificantem : qui ex Patre Filioque procedit.
    Qui cum Patre et Filio simul adoratur, et conglorificatur : qui locutus est per Prophetas.
    Et unam, sanctam, catholicam, et apostolicam Ecclesiam.
    Confiteor unum baptisma in remissionem peccatorum.
    Et expecto resurrectionem mortuorum. Et vitam venturi saeculi.
    Amen.

    All Things Bright And Beautiful .

    [IMG]

    All things bright and beautiful,
    All creatures great and small,
    All things wise and wonderful:
    The Lord God made them all.

    Each little flower that opens,
    Each little bird that sings,
    He made their glowing colors,
    He made their tiny wings.

    The purple headed mountains,
    The river running by,
    The sunset and the morning
    That brightens up the sky.

    The cold wind in the winter,
    The pleasant summer sun,
    The ripe fruits in the garden,
    He made them every one.

    He gave us eyes to see them,
    And lips that we might tell
    How great is God Almighty,
    Who has made all things well.

    ETERNAL FATHER, STRONG TO SAVE .

    Eternal Father, strong to save,
    Whose arm doth bind the restless wave,
    Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
    Its own appointed limits keep;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
    For those in peril on the sea!

    O Saviour whose almighty word
    The winds and waves submissive heard ,
    Who walkedst on the foaming deep
    ,And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
    Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
    For those in peril on the sea!

    O Trinity of love and power!
    Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
    From rock and tempest, fire and foe
    ,Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
    And ever let there rise to Thee
    Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

    In light inaccessible hid from our eyes,
    Most blessed, most glorious, the Ancient of Days,
    Almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

    Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
    Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
    Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
    Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

    To all life thou givest to both great and small;
    In all life thou livest, the true life of all;
    We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
    And wither and perish but nought changeth thee.

    Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
    Thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight;
    All laud we would render: O help us to see
    'Tis only the splendour of light hideth thee

    Crown Him with many crowns .

    [IMG]

    Crown Him with many crowns, the Lamb upon His throne.
    Hark! How the heavenly anthem drowns all music but its own.
    Awake, my soul, and sing of Him who died for thee,
    And hail Him as thy matchless King through all eternity.

    Crown Him the Lord of life, who triumphed over the grave,
    And rose victorious in the strife for those He came to save.
    His glories now we sing, who died, and rose on high,
    Who died eternal life to bring, and lives that death may die.

    Crown Him the Lord of love, behold His hands and side,
    Those wounds, yet visible above, in beauty glorified.
    No angel in the sky can fully bear that sight,
    But downward bends his burning eye at mysteries so bright.

    Crown Him the Lord of years, the Potentate of time,
    Creator of the rolling spheres, ineffably sublime.
    All hail, Redeemer, hail! For Thou has died for me;
    Thy praise shall never , never fail throughout eternity.
