Remember when I made a post on here saying that I didn't think I could ever be a full-fledged Republican? That was funny, wasn't it? Time to point and laugh at the me that existed before the summer of 2019. She had no idea that she'd fall into the trap of exploring her own political beliefs, looking at what Republicans actually have to say, and discovering reason through throwing away moral relativism.

I'm still an independent thinker despite it all, but I can no longer call myself anything other than a Republican. The me of 2018 would be absolutely furious if she knew where I'd be today.

That's the direction which exercising your mind and being honest will take you:) Thank you for the honesty before this forum too and being willing to give your testimony on this like you did. Anyone, and I mean anyone, who considers all of the evidence on a matter and pursues what is evidently true rather than what is comfortable, what saves face, what promotes self-esteem etc is going to end up changing in ways they never thought they would change and siding against themselves for what they used to believe.

The facts are that there is a party which generally seeks to tear down law and order, to promote perversion, and make infanticide legal in an ever increasing number of ways. There is a party then which generally opposes this other one and seeks to check its immoral stances. As of now it's going to be one party or the other in power; and each major political seat will be filled by someone from one party or other. We sure would be fools to want to stand before God in support of the party which so greatly promotes lawlessness; and we sure should want to show God that we were doing what was reasonably in our power to promote the protection of the innocent and the upholding of His ways when it comes what our laws are and how they are enforced; and there is no way to do that without opposing the lawless party and siding with the party which opposes their foolishness, their rage, and their devices which are hell-bent on destroying everything which is good and right in God's eyes.

Good job in discerning true wisdom! And in acting on it accordingly!

Trump has agreed to spend 6 trillion on military through 2020, sad little fact is that we only get 3.8 trillion in taxes for 2020. And as I post in another thread, our economy is not doing well. I figure with the printing of money as it sets right now, we have about 10-15 years before utter collapse of the economy. That is if Trump Didn't spend 6 trillion on military. I am registered republican myself, I simply disagree with a few republican ideals, like unlimited corporate powers, and immigration and high military costs.

That military expenditure is over a number of years, not one year. According to your article, it also includes veteran's future medical care expenses.

I get your point but it is not an apples to apples comparison.

Beginning to think for yourself is really excellent. Many are doing just that. We live in a society where political correctness rules the media, and it so often takes purposeful effort to discover that one is in the Matrix and then to break free into the previously unknown.

Not that the Republican Party is anything near perfect, I need not say I'm sure, but they're miles ahead of the other side.

I'm sure you've heard of the #walkaway movement? It's real and it's happening. Here's one very recent testimony of a woman in NH who was led to attend the Trump rally there. Her journey to get to that point was rapid and, like yours, surprising even to herself. She's still going to vote Buttigieg, but she's switching her affiliation to Independent and is continuing to keep an open mind. Her story is destined to go viral.

I’ve been a Democrat for 20 years. Here’s what I experienced at Trump’s rally in New Hampshire.

David Duke made the same point. Although the republican party is declining in numbers,

Yep. He didn't say that he could publicly murder someone and still get their support, until much later.

Not that it's pertinent to this thread, but for the sake of accuracy:

Perhaps, according to seven year old numbers. But more recent Gallup data shows the opposite has been true.

The chart that's below this one on that page shows the Independents following the trend.

    Well,let's take a look...

    Gallup data as of 2018:
    https://content.gallup.com/origin/g...roduction/Cms/POLL/euflbdw5d0uafxwbcx14dg.png

Clear decline in people identifying as republicans. More and more people are identifying as independent, but there are still more democrats than republicans.

And the decline in the number of people identifying with the GOP continues.

Anyone can consult the Gallup table I just posted to find that since that 2018 data Repubs have increased, and Indies have increased at the cost of the Democrats, who have decreased. That's part of a larger table that goes back to 2004, IIRC.

Please check what I post before contradicting me, as repeated corrections are not worth my time. As I said, this is not pertinent to this thread anyway, so I will leave you to your own opinions on the data and only stay on topic.

With all due respect, Barbarian, his Fifth Avenue comment has nothing to do with that fake quote. He didn't say anything about Republicans being dumb and it would be dishonest to insist that he did.

Of course it didn't. He was merely commenting on the fact that the most hideous reality about him wouldn't faze his followers.

There's a difference between his followers and republicans. Given the large number of republicans who have bailed on the party in the last three years, that's pretty obvious. The Blue Wave was largely the result of that.

The connection between the falsely-attributed statement about the supposed mental limitations of republicans, and the correctly-attributed statement about the mental limitations of his followers is a low estimation of their intelligence.

    Well, let's take a look...

As you see, your one-year change doesn't reverse two decades of significant decline in republicans.

See above. The "larger table" shows a marked decline in the number of people who identify as republicans or democrats. But over that time, republicans became the minority party, while they were essentially even with the democrats at the beginning of the millenium. Both parties have declined, but republicans have declined faster. Cherry-picking a particular year doesn't really tell one anything.

Please check the data before contradicting me, I'm a very patient guy, so it doesn't bother me to make repeated corrections, but I can see you are clearly not happy about being corrected.

If so, it was probably a bad idea for you to bring it up, apart from your misconceptions about what the data say.
