Senate Judiciary Committee member Ted Cruz, R-Texas, called the Justice Department inspector general's report both "chilling and encouraging" in an interview Monday on "Hannity."

"It is stunning the abuse of power that we saw in the Obama administration and sadly it continued over in the deep state for the first couple of years of the Trump administration," Cruz told host Sean Hannity,

OBAMA was aware

Comey told Inspector General Michael Horowitz that he briefed Barack Obama on the Trump-Russia investigation in August of 2016 shortly after FBI counterintel chief Peter Strzok opened a CI investigation into the Trump campaign dubbed “Crossfire Hurricane.”

"When we asked Comey about meetings with the White House concerning Crossfire Hurricane, he said that although he did not brief the White House about the investigation, he did mention to President Obama and others at a meeting in the Situation Room that the FBI was trying to determine whether any U.S. person had worked with the Russians in their efforts to interfere in the 2016 U.S. election. Comey said he thought it was important that the President know the nature of the FBI’s efforts without providing any specifics. Comey said although he did not recall exactly what he said, he may have said there were four individuals with ‘some association or connection to the Trump campaign.’ Comey stated that after he provided this information, no one at the meeting responded or followed up with any questions. Comey did not recall specifically when this meeting took place, but believed it may have been in August 2016."

What abuse of power? There was credible evidence of Russian attempts to influence the 2016 election, including forays into states' election servers.

Obama prudently kept his mouth shut about the suspected goings-on between Russia and Donald's campaign, but it would have been negligent not to investigate. All this "No, Obama is the one, not Donald, who abused power" is a red herring.

AG Barr said that he Doesn't agree with the IG report. Why is that?
Because Barr saw what happened to Sessions when he followed the law rather than Donald. If he does not loudly, loyally support Donald's conspiracy theories and alternate facts, his neck will be on the chopping block.

Who, "Lyin'" Ted?

That was my initial thought as well. The OP lost me with him and Sean Hannity, who are both faithful Trump supporters. I know to take whatever either one says about Democrats with a grain of salt. It's strange that Cruz would be so faithful to Trump when he has been called "Lyin' Ted" by Trump too.

Wow, Ted Cruz going on national TV and just lying about what’s in the report. Note how his account is almost totally lacking in detai.

IF the report was so bad for the FBI and the Obama admin., as being stated in the OP, why would AG Barr say he disagrees with it?
Could it be because it isn't so bad?

I don't believe AG Barr is worried about his relationship with Trump, he is fully in agreement with Trump.

Yup, Cruz and others are focusing in on the part of the report about the FISA warrant on Carter Page and completely ignoring other major findings in the report that puts the kiboshes to Trump's story about the FBI being politically biased against him, a deep state coup, that the FBI didn't have enough evidence to even begin an investgation, etc.
In other words, much of what Trump and his admin. having been saying is a bunch of malarkey. :)

He's not called "Lyin' Ted" for nothing. In fact, Trump has repeatedly called him that nickname to insult him and yet he still remains one of Trump's faithful and loyal 'yes-man' devoted supporters.

Trump supporters grossly misrepresent factual findings. News at 11.

Just another day in the life of the Trump presidency.

Indeed it is. I find it distressing that the father of lies has managed to ensnare so many of the faithful.

Yes, I agree. It's distressing that so many of the faithful are attempting to justify politically supporting a twice divorced thrice married adulterer, who paid off a inappropriate content star to buy her silence about their affair, who vulgarly bragged about sexually groping multiple women, and who viciously insults and degrades anyone he personally dislikes. What kind of a person would call their fellow Americans human scum?

It's disconcerting (and ironic) that so many of the faithful will resort to using excuses like "I voted for a President, not a pastor!" or "I didn't vote for him because he was a choir boy!" while they seemingly have no moral confliction judging the opposing political party for immoral and unethical behavior.
