And science is right.

Then the mask mandate and restrictions should have worked in the last year.

If true, Why is NY, who has the highest restrictions and mask mandates number one in the country for sickness and death.

While Florida (similar in size) has had very limited distancin, restrictions and mandates, is so much healthier?

Population compression and financial status are two important differences (not to mention climate difference in the winter)

Are you saying shutdowns, distancing and mask mandates are different by location and demographics?

If so, why did the science not say that?

You guessed wrong.

Texas leads the nation in COVID hospitalizations.
New York is #2
California is #3
Florida is #4

COVID-19 hospitalizations by state: March 5

The "science" was two weeks to flatten the curve and then ride out the rest of the disease cycle. After that initial two weeks, science gave way to politics. The politicians just kept calling it science.

It does.. it is public knowledge that flues/viruses are worse the more crowded the conditions, the poorer the neighbourhoods, and the colder the weather

That is not what the politicians are saying through Fauci. Who is now saying triple up on masking, and continued lockdown.

I have NEVER heard him say the regulations should be different for different areas of the country. Nor has anyone explained why states with the most stringent restrictions and masks, for the most part are not any better off than states who do not.

Rebellious spirits refusing to comply... regardless of how Fauci tries to control the narrative as he has done for 40 years

That doesn't make sense to me -

The ones following him the closest have the highest death rate at worst case scenario and the same rates as ones who do not follow him, best case scenario.

Who are the ones with the highest death rates... the ill and infirmed who are already for the most part confined (and a closed system once infected is like a fire in a burn barrel) and more susceptible because of compromised immune systems or health issues. Most die with covid, not of it. The rest could be said, are roaming around outside and in reasonable health.

People who are ages 4 - 17 are least likely to die of COVID. The average age of death was 80. That is changing with vaccinations. Even with places open in Florida, many people wear face masks as a courtesy. Some places require them. After fifteen people on a cruise ship died near the beginning of the pandemic, we knew it was worse than the flu. The strategy to vaccinate seniors first is good. The number of deaths and hospitalizations per day is dropping. The unemployment rate is dropping. Cruise ships are yet docked, not that they are essential anyway.

Mask wearing is only one element in fighting infections. Social distancing and lock downs are anothers. There is also the circumstances ie. indoor or outdoor; Type of air-conditioning (type of filtration, air flow etc.). So if you are going to challenge the science then take all variables into account.

New York City is very populous and known for crowding and the necessity of public transportation, which forces strangers to be close to each other. That means less social distancing built into every day Life than most of the country already has (i.e. driving alone). That and there was a scandal in New York having to do with nursing homes getting harder hit than necessary.

May 23, 2020 Governor Cuomo allows gatherings of up to 10 people with social distancing
May 27, 2020 U.S. COVID-19 deaths pass 100,000
June 8, 2020 NYC begins Phase 1 reopening
June 22, 2020 NYC begins phase 2 of reopening
June 24, 2020 NY, NJ and CT require travelers to self-quarantine for 14 days if traveling from hot spots
July 6, 2020 U.S. COVID-19 deaths surpass 130,000
July 6, 2020 NYC begins Phase 3 of reopening, without indoor dining
July 19, 2020 NYC begins Phase 4 reopening, excluding malls, museums and indoor dining/bars
July 24, 2020 NYC reports 227,517 COVID-19 cases and 22,934 deaths to date
August 4, 2020 NYC's health commissioner, Dr. Oxiris Barbot, resigns after voicing “deep disappointment” with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s handling of the pandemic.

Now look at the infection rates:

Florida’s per capita infection rate is a bit higher than NY’s, though NY and several other northeastern states dominate the mortality rates.

Florida’s fall to the middle of the list is new - as recently as November, it was #9 among states for per capita infections. I don’t know why they fell so far in the rankings over the last couple months.

Texas leads the nation in COVID hospitalizatio

Texas tends to have a lot of people who ignore medical advice. We're now about to engage in a great republican experiment, using the lives of Texas as the subjects. The Governor has completely opened Texas, declaring that immunization will be enough to protect us. About 7% immunized right now.

So keep an eye on new infections and deaths in Texas.

From the Texas republicans who brought you "no electricity, no water and no heat", a new program. "No masks."

Should be instructive.

if the science is right, why is there no appreciable difference?

Because pandemics have a lot of different factors. So far, masks have been rather successful where use has been enforces. On person in a store, not wearing a mask thereby exposes everyone else. Masks protect mostly others, and only partially protects the wearer.

That is not true. Just look at the states where mask mandates are the Strongest. NY and California. Number one and number four in deaths according to the CDC. As shown previously.

To put in in similar vernacular:

Both are Part of the great Democratic experiment. Shut down the economy, tax the wealthy until they move out, limit police and have restrictions on personal freedoms, like how many people you can have in your home.

and they are not healthier or freer. Death visits more often.

They do not car about the citizens, they care about money and power.

FYI. There are no maps for cities in Republican states showing where human feces is, but there are in Nancy Pelosi’s city.

What does that have to do with this thread? Because piles of feces that are large enough and frequent enough to warrant online mapping are injurious to health.

That is not true.

It's just a fact. A lot of research has been done, and it is unequivocal. Mask work. They protect others mostly, but they also provide a degree of protection for the person wearing them. No point in denying the fact.

Would you like me to show you?

I'm not so sure that "masks don't work because feces are dangerous" is a very good argument. Perhaps you're wearing your wrong?
