The Democrats provided for increases funding to the US Post Office in "The Heroes Bill" that has been sitting collecting dust on McConnell's desk for the last 7 weeks without any attempt to negotiate a compromise!

With only 4 months before the 2020 Election, the current negotiations indicate that once again the Republicans have no interest in providing the Post Office with additional funding - which only confirms that this President and his supporters have a vested interest in disrupting mail delivery!

Normally they run without funding. It's not an increase in funding, it's a bailout. (A desperately needed bail-out, again thanks to package increases due to Coronavirus, which has forced extreme cost-saving measures which have caused delays in packages.)

Really, what is killing the USPS is the 2006 requirement to prepay each employees retirement. The USPS has had to get loans from the treasury in the past to be able to pay payroll. It's an unsustainable situation created by the law and it's just gotten worse due to insane payroll increases due to COVID overtime.

The Republicans had no problems providing financial bailouts due the Pandemic for private corporations such as the airlines, but refuse to provide assistance to a federal department that has been financially self-sustaining - this only makes sense if they have an ulterior motive!

Democrats haven't been any friendlier with USPS bailouts in the past, even if they are now. The abuse of the USPS isn't partisan overall.

Most politicians don't seem to 'get' what the USPS is, considering I saw some news recently (which I don't remember the source for) where a politician was calling for defunding the USPS that isn't even funded.
